I agree. At this rate I'll be able to WATCH half of the shows before this is done - and I've already started and finished three of those in the list since voting.

Not to rush you or anything.

23 February 1999 – 22 February 2000 on Channel 4

This position is a combination of both the original British version and the American version going by character picks. Oops. This British drama created by Russell T Davies (well known for Doctor Who) was focused on three gay men, Stuart, Vince and Nathan, living in Manchester. An interesting note is Vince's fandom of the original Doctor Who series as Russell went on to revive the show years later. The show was one of the first roles for Charlie Hunnam (who played 15 year old Nathan), the actor who recently dropped out of the Fifty Shades of Grey movie, and also starred Coronation Street icon Antony Cotton.

The American version, broadcast on Showtime between 2000 and 2005, featured five gay men and a lesbian couple living in Pittsburgh, most of which had UK counterparts. The show was a huge success for Showtime and explored many storylines including same-sex marriage, gay adoption and STIs.

From one show with Doctor Who connections to another. This crime drama focusing on the death of a young boy and the search for his killer proved very popular among British audiences earlier this year as people were gripped by the mystery and viewing figures grew as a result. Now a US version is in the works at Fox, also set to star David Tennant who plays Detective Inspector Alec Hardy and a second UK series has been confirmed to air next year although whether David and fellow star Olivia Colman will return with a different story is yet to be seen.

July 19, 2011 – present on MTV

This American teen comedy centers around social outcast Jenna and her struggles following an accident that is mistakenly viewed as a suicide attempt after receiving a letter which later turns out to be from

her own mother

. Jenna becomes well known for her blog and has a secret relationship with Matty which later turns into a love triangle with Matty's best friend, Jake. Season 3, which started back up last week, introduces another love interest for Jenna, Collin. A big success for MTV, the show is very popular on Twitter with people picking teams - personally I think Matty and Jake are both hot and it's no wonder she wants both.

One of my very favourite comedies around at the moment, Awkward features a host of magnificent characters including guidance counselor Valerie and Jenna's nemesis, Sadie Saxton. Definitely one that more people should check out.

Awkward is one of those shows I've always wanted to watch but I haven't got around to doing so.

But it does look like one of those shows I will love.

September 25, 2006 – February 8, 2010 on NBC

Here is what is known as a four year flame-out, a show that opened huge during the first season but fell hard and fast and was over within four years. The first season was fantastic, featuring a range of characters who discovered they had a variety of powers and the characters were cleverly linked with each other. My favourite character and the one voted best by Buzzjack was Claire, played by Hayden Panettiere, a High School cheerleader who could heal super quickly. There was also flying, mind reading and space-time manipulation to name just a few. Zachary Quinto played Sylar, a serial killer who would hunt the other characters to try and steal their powers. I can't remember a weak link among the characters, each one brought something to the table.

The second season, cut short due to the writer strike in America, introduced some new characters such as Elle, played by Kristen Bell. The main story arc focused on a virus that the characters were trying to prevent getting out. Season three is were it rapidly started going downhill for me with confusing plots and I eventually gave up before the end but the first season is one of my first recollections of really getting into a show.

21 September 2011 – present on DR1

A cross border co-opperation between Sweden and Denmark produced what has been referred to as 'The new the Forbrydelsen'. Critically acclaimed this brilliant example of Nordic Noir follows Malmö detective Saga Noren and København detective Martin Rohde after they are thrown together to work on a double murder. The discovery of a body on the Øresund Bridge that links the two cities and nations and turns out to be two bodies sets us off for a ten episode rollercoaster that takes in more than it's share of twists, turns, red herrings, ups, downs and 180's.

A second season starts on September 22nd on DR1 and SVT. It promises to be just as good as the first, if not better. Moments are provided throughout by Saga, who makes the entire thing worth watching even when you're frustrated at the twists. Martin's son August is pretty easy on the eyes too...

Go watch this now. Yes it's subtitled but if you can't get past this you don't deserve to watch good TV. Off you pop to watch mindless shite like the Hills and Jersey Shore.

George moves himself and his daughter, Tessa, from New York City to the suburbs upon finding a box of condoms in her room. Much hilarity ensues involving nosy neighbour Sheila, Dallas (a love interest for George) and her daughter, Dalia. No commentary can sell this show as much as this:

f*** ABC for holding season 3 until mid-season.  Some of the best comedy characters you'll see on TV are from this very show (Dalia <3)

Do you like lesbians? Do you like prison dramedies? Do you like seeing what happens to white privileged people who get thrown into prison? Well that's your lucky day then since Orange is the New Black hits all of those marks! In this show you'll find literally ALL kinds of characters, from Russian lady ("It's f***ing funny!") to transexual. Despite it being mostly drama with quite a few darker moments it is also a fantastic comedy. Fantastic cast and very plausible characters. The Lost-style flashbacks bring another dimension to the show as well. So anyone who is still too lazy to watch anything other than TV shows imported from the US to the UK channels or the UK TV itself (Calum Sande HINT HINT) should take a bit more INITIATIVE and get on Netflix to watch this / download it from somewhere else if you are too cheap to have Netflix or if you can't have it since everyone in your country is considered to be a terrorist (like Russia) so that's why you don't have Netflix and you need to do mountains of paperwork and body cavity searches to travel or GOD FORBID move somewhere abroad permanently.

So yeah this show is absolutely fabulous. Comparing it to (or ranking it ABOVE), say, Devious Maids, is like comparing a GIANT ASS SPACESHIP to a BROKEN MINI LEGO TOY CAR. That's how amazing OITNB is (although Devious Maids is shit BY DEFAULT so pretty much everything is better than that (HIMYM and 2.5Men aside OBVIOUSLY. There's literally nothing worse than those two shows. LITERALLY. NOTHING. N O T H I N G (literally (PARENTHESES)))).

You Missed A Spot truly is one of the greatest TV moments of recent times. I also LIVE for Jill Warner and Sheila and Noah and Carmen and HALF THE BLOODY CAST.

I pretty much died when I first saw You Missed a Spot. Legendary.
YES for Orange Is The New Black and YES for Tiffany winning best character.

No way is Tiffany anywhere near the best character on OITNB :o Great actress and plays her role good, but for the most part she is vile.

Alex is my fave for some reason . Shame we wont see much of her, or at all next season :(.

74th ☆ Cougar Town ☆ 139pts

September 23, 2009 – present on ABC and then TBS

Cougar Town is led by "Friends" star Courteney Cox who could regularly by seen as a feature in Regina's sig or avatar. Recently divorced, the show follows the next chapter of her [Jules] life along with her fairly cute son and her ex-husband. I've seen a few episodes of the first season and it was pretty decent but as an outsider the best thing about the show are the title cards (see above :D) mocking the title starting from season two (because as far as I can gather, the show isn't currently about cougars yet the title remains and people judge a book by the 'cover'). Ratings during season three became too little for ABC to put up with and the show moved to cable network TBS where the title remained again. Ellie, Jules' feisty best friend and next door neighbour, was voted as the best character. Season five was recently announced for a January 7th 2014 start date.

Sandwiched in the middle of this section is this awful gameshow, hosted by Bradley Walsh, broadcast on ITV around tea time. Contestants play against one of four chasers, attempting to amass as much money for the team by answering multiple choice questions. The chaser tries to catch the contestant to prevent them getting the money which the team play for in "the final chase", where the contestants still left try to answer as many questions as possible in two minutes. It has absolutely nothing on Pointless or Eggheads, not really a show I find very likable.

72nd ☆ Frasier ☆ 145pts

(Favourite character: Frasier)

:ne:

September 16, 1993 – May 13, 2004 on NBC

It says a lot about the quality of Frasier that it managed to spin a character who was far from the most popular on Cheers off into their own show which ran for 11 years and over 250 episodes. Not just that but of those 11 seasons, 5 are genuinely incredible TV and a futher 3 are better than most US sitcoms too. The main 5 cast members are all jolly good, but the real strength for me always lay in the recurring characters and in later episodes the roster of guest stars including Patrick Stewart as a gay art lover with an eye for Frasier and the inimitable Christine Baranski as a truly grade A bitch. Bebe Glazer, Frasier's ex-wife Lilith, Gil Chesterton and Bob 'Bulldog' Briscoe are all among the best recurring characters on any TV show ever, and that is in a universe where The Good Wife exists.

(commentary by John)

I used to like 'The Chase', but god it's absolutely AWFUL now. Passed its sell-by date too.

Cougar Town beaten by The Chase?! Good lord. :drama:

The former really is terrific ever since it got into its groove - having decided it didn't like its original premise - but you have to watch it all the way from the beginning because there are so many in-jokes and idiosyncrasies. It's much, much better as a "bunch of friends don't do much" successor to Friends than How I Met Your Mother.

Cougar Town is amazing. I agree, so underrated! Any show which focuses on a group of friends getting drunk off wine and Courtney Cox is a good one to me.

Laurie is easily the best for me, her scenes with Travis are ridiculously cute too.

The Chase  don't watch it religiously like I used to but it's still pretty good when it's on, great concept for a show and Bradley Walsh is hilarious.
