65th - QI - 150pts ( 27)

At number 65 we have the iconic comedy quiz show hosted by the amazing Stephen Fry. Hilarious and educational - what more do you want ?! Not quite the highest panel show on this countdown but it sure is popualar - being the first show to break the 150 point barrier.

64th - Six Feet Under - 153pts (fewer votes) ( 34)

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kNyO8AvSpo8/TqCsDodTsSI/AAAAAAAAAE0/coEHByitkHo/s400/Six-feet-under.jpg

Coming in 64th place is this Emmy award-winning HBO show. I must admit that I'd never heard of this before now (a recurring theme unofortunately !!). It revolves around Nate Fisher who becomes joint owner of the family's funeral business after the death of his father and deals (logically I suppose) about death and its effects. It actually sounds like something I would enjoy so I will go check this out.

63rd - How I Met Your Mother - 153pts (more votes) ( 43)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/f/fc/Howimetyourmother.jpg

How I Met Your Mother started on CBS back in 2005 and revolves around a group of five friends with Ted giving his two kids a very long winded explanation about how he...met their mother. Eight years after the show began and we finally know who it is!! The current 9th season is the last for the show and will come to a conclusion next month. Starting off as a bit of a bubble show for CBS, a Britney Spears cameo came during the 2007/08 season and really helped the show grow, building momentum off the back of the writers strike. It didn't actually peak from a ratings perspective until season 7!! Now that CBS comedy is weaker, they are really going to miss this show on Mondays once it vacates and a spin-off, "How I Met Your Dad", is in the works. This show gets a lot of hate and even I stopped watching near the beginning of the fifth season but it's one of the first series that I followed so holds a little place in my heart.

62nd - The Killing / Forbrydelsen - 154pts (fewer votes) ( 26)

TheKillingCast.jpg

Forbrydelsen (the Danish version is obviously infinitely superior to the American) forms part of my Holy Trinity of Scandi drama (along with Bron/Broen and Borgen). Featuring super Copenhagen detective Sarah Lund (and her equally famous Faroese jumpers) and an array of slightly less awesome supporting detectives. This was the show that paved the way for Nordic thrillers in the UK, achieving great ratings for BBC4 and instantly becoming a classic. If you have not seen this show (the American version does not count) yet then what are you doing?? Go and watch it now. I'm not even kidding - you will not regret it one bit. Should have been top 10 at least on this countdown - but I suppose that 62nd is pretty decent for a subtitled programme on BBC4.

Forbrydelsen

Not enough words to describe how fabulous this show is.

How on earth was there a collective failure of taste on Buzzjack sufficient enough to propel that shite to 63rd?!?!
Six Feet Under  Far too low, glorious show with such honesty and insight about life (and death, huh).

THIS!!

HIMYM is atrocious, unfunny, unrealistic, with no redeeming features. One of the worst, most try-hard sitcoms I've seen.

How on earth was there a collective failure of taste on Buzzjack sufficient enough to propel that shite to 63rd?!?!

If there is ever a need to blame someone, blame Jonjo. Especially this time since it's his fault.

HIMYM is a good show to watch if you're being tortured. This way you easily get distracted from physical pain. Although it will leave you emotionally scarred so if I were to choose I'd prefer physical torture.

61st - Black Books - 154pts (more votes) ( 24)

Appearing on Channel 4 from 2000 to 2004, this sitcom was well before my time. It was critically successful - winning the BAFTA award for Best Situation Comedy for 2 of its 3 seasons - and it seems to be popular with you guys as well.

60th - Charmed - 155pts ( 20)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/a/af/Charmedtitlelogo1.jpg

This ICONIC Supernatural series aired on The WB from 1998 until the network merged with UPN to form The CW in 2006. In January 2006, just months before it's untimely axing it was recognised as the longest running TV show in the US with only Female Leads. 6 years on from it's cancellation figures showed that it was regularly the second most watched show on online streaming services Netflix and Amazon' Instant Video. The show has a cult following and an overwhelmingly positive critical reception. Always in the top3 of shows on it's network, the decision to axe it baffles fans to this day.

The show revolved around the three Halliwell sisters, Prue, Piper and Phoebe. Discovering one stormy night, the first time they had been together since the passing of their grandmother, a 'book of shadows' Phoebe set into motion the gifting of magical powers to the sisters three. Awakening the destiny that had been passed through generations of Halliwell women these three sisters we're known as the 'Charmed ones', the three most powerful witches of all time. Prue had the power of Telekinesis, Piper had the power to stop time and Phoebe had the gift of premonition. The first three years follows the sisters as they battle each other and the many evils of the world. Following the departure of Shannen Doherty at the end of season three, a new sister was required. The half-sibling Paige Matthews. Paige was half whitelighter and gained the ability to move objects although with her white lighter abilities it was a bit different...

Eight years, an anti-climatic finale and numerous snubs by the major awards later the sisters three still hold a special place in our hearts. This is one of my all time favourite shows, comfortably in my top 5 and even holding the number one spot between 2005 and 2009!!! I can't recommend this enough.

59th - Keeping Up Appearances - 163pts ( 11)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/4b/Kua2.jpg

Hmm, I thought as I read the title of this one, I'm sure I've heard of this before. Thirty seconds and one Wikipedia visit later I realised why. This is one of the great British comedy classics revolving around the life of Hyacinth Bucket ( but pronounced Bouquet !! ) and her attempts to become a 'social climber'. This is definitely a classic and something on my 'to watch' list, as it has been recommended to me many times by my parents. As well as being successful in the UK its five series were very well-received in the US and in various other parts of the world. The show also spawned four books and a theatre production.

58th - Veep - 165pts (:ne:)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/41/Veep_intertitle.png

Yet another comedy appears, although this one wins the award for the wierdest name. I half expected it to be some kind of wacky sci-fi show, but in fact it's an American political comedy show about the life of (fictional) Vice President Selena Meyer. This comes from the creator of The Thick of It (which itself is almost 40 places lower), a similar show focusing on the British government.

57th - Bad Girls - 166pts ( 2)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/a/ac/Bad_Girls_Titles.JPEG

At last we have something more serious on this countdown. This was long-running ITV show managed to survive for 8 series between 1999 and 2006, which is an impressive feat in itself. As is the fact that it was broadcast in 17 different countries worldwide. At its peak its was pulling in just under 9.5 millions viewers - yet another testament to it success. Set in a British women's prison this show dealt with some serious and controverial issues including drug smuggling and relationships between inmates and staff. An American remake is apparently planned for later this year / early next year (but we know how well they turn out normally [see Forbrydelsen])

56th - Merlin - 167pts ( 8)

http://static1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20111022124108/merlin1/images/3/39/Merlin_pic_2.jpg

Nothing screams Saturday-night family-friendly BBC TV to me more than Merlin (The Voice can try all it wants, but I'm still unconvinced [see future post]). On reflection the show was rather bad - by that I mean the acting was far from superb, and it was all a little too cheesy - but it still holds a special place in my heart. For those of you who didn't seen Merlin, think Atlantis but set in Camelot. I stopped watching this somewhere around the start of series 4 but I didn't miss much, as I returned to watch the 5th (and final) series finale with little trouble. In summary: good fun, but not a masterpiece.

lol Merlin. It had its good moments but it was mostly just the same thing every week until the end. Morgana

Can we just take a moment to recognise the absolute epic that is 58-59-60

Veep, Keeping Up Appearances and Charmed

Oh and Veep is so much more than just another comedy, it's probably the most on point comedy on air currently. FLAWLESS.

I've just been watching clips on YouTube and some of them are absolutely AMAZING.

e.g.

Best signature joke of pretty much any show everrr <3

You should have brought me in for a GUEST WRITE UP for Keeping Up Appearances. God I love Hyacinth and her relentless social climbing cuntery too all and sundry.

Well I was definitely going to ask you to do The Good Wife (which I will need quickly if that's OK) but if you (or anyone else) want to write any more then I would greatly appreciate it. That's really what's slowing me down at the moment as I don't know much about many of the shows. But there are a couple that I definitely want to do myself. I will post a list of the remaining shows tomorrow.

If there is ever a need to blame someone, blame Jonjo. Especially this time since it's his fault.

Charmed ... TOOOOOOOOOOO LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!    :moira:

Needs to be no.1 coming for all weaves!

Definitely in me top 5 all time faves too.

I like the last season just because Paige FINALLY gets her healing power. Phoebe really needed to keep hers, too, but for the budget...

I'm going to try and speed this up now. There's now point dragging it on and I won't be able to post much next week due to exams, so my aim is to have it all finished by Sunday. That will involve quite a bit of rushing, and I do apologise, but I think it's in everyone's interests to get this finished. Schedule: 55-41 today, 40-21 Friday, 20-11 Saturday, 10-1 Sunday.

55th - Battlestar Galactica (2004) - 170pts ( 5)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/40/Battlestar_Galactica_intro.jpg

A reworking of the classic 1978 series (hence the 2004 in the title) this sci-fi programme aired for four series. I'd never heard of this (not being the biggest sci-fi fan in the world), but it sure picked up a lot of votes from you guys.

54th - Buffy the Vampire Slayer - 177pts ( 54)

http://jonathanbudden.files.wordpress.com/2010/03/buffy_logo.jpg

This cult classic is one of my absolute favourite 90s (and early 00s) shows. Unfortuantely I never got past the second series for rather wierd reasons (the tape that it was on messed up my video player (yes, I still have one of those) and I never got round to buying the DVDs). This is often voted one of the best shows of all time, and I would have to agree. Well worth a watch.

53rd - New Girl - 178pts ( 17)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/2/2e/New_Girl_Intertitle.png

Starring the brilliant Zooey Deschanel this US sitcom was very well received by the critics and picked up mega ratings for FOX. It follows the aforementioned Zooey's character as she moves into an apartment in LA with three guys. It's still going strong and is now apporaching the series 3 finale, which will air on the 4th of March.

52nd - Sugar Rush - 182pts (fewer votes) ( 16)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/0/06/Sugar_Rush.JPG

Based on the novel of the same name, this comedy drama appeared on Channel 4 between 2005 and 2006. It follows the story of 15 years old lesbian Kim Daniels and her crush on straight best friend Sugar and later her relationship with girlfriend Saint.

51st - Footballers' Wives - 182pts (more votes) ( 8)

http://thealchemyofscreenacting.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/footballers-wives.jpg

An ITV drama based around the fictional Earls Park Football Club and (obviously) the wives of its players. This managed five series and has decent ratings but was never anything that interested me personally.

Sugar Rush is absolutely amazing  One of my fave TV shows eveeeerr ... Sugar is one of my fave characters ever too.

I was addicted to New Girl for the first couple of series, but it got old REALLY quick.
