January 13, 201213 yr I think I like it ... I'm not sure. She has an amazing voice so the autotune feels a bit unnecessary and the production is messy in places. Perhaps it's a grower?
January 13, 201213 yr Plus it's a bit too Euro-dancey and the song seems so anonymous, sounds like any random song that you'd hear on a dance show on Radio. Which is exactly what the UK loves right now. Hello, Loca People was #1 a few months ago? That is the DEFINITION of (amazing) anonymous Eurodance. Anyway, I only heard this in the predict thread Liam set up and I don't know if it's just low quality or what but I don't think I'm going to like it at all. And I was so ready to get on board this era! Damn you Alex.
January 13, 201213 yr Loca People was more a novelty dance record. "Elephant" sounds like a lazy rehash of a dozen Euro disco songs with a big fat diva wailing the vocals. I love THE BEAST mind you, but with a generic tune as this and typically no Radio 1 support, she'll need a miracle to have a big hit. I suspect 1 week in the lower top ten.

How can you say that when collide in all of its awfulness still managed a peak of 4! this is a surefire number one with some surprising sales! you watch. #beastisbest.
January 13, 201213 yr I don't mind Alexandra for what she is but that clip of a remix is just as awful and generic as they come, how can people be getting excited over it? Mr Dandy* is a HUGE Alex fan and when I played it to him he wouldn't believe me when I said it was Alexandra, the vocal sections sound warped beyond recognition which is just ridiculous considering her vocal is her main selling point. And my opinion remains IDENTICAL after hearing the single version, completely void of any personality or even vocal ability. May as well be the latest eurodance novelty track, what an utter let down even though it will probably do well.
January 14, 201213 yr How can you say that when collide in all of its awfulness still managed a peak of 4! I disagree here. I think "Collide" was a far better track than "Elephant" is, both vocal and production wise. This seems like a decent song but the autotune really gets on my nerves and the production isn't as great as I had hoped. It could be a grower, but I don't expect to love it.
January 14, 201213 yr This is really, really good. I mean, it's certainly no 'All Night Long' or 'Bad Boys', but it's still brilliant. It's going to be huge, especially in the clubs. (And not the 'Collide' hyperbole type of "it's going to be huge in the clubs" way. I think it'll genuinely be massive.) I need to hear the HQ of it though in order to give a full proper judgement of it. But I think I will LOVE it.
January 14, 201213 yr It doesn't even sound like her :/ True. I can SORT of hear her in the verses and the intro but the chorus could be anyone. That said I do quite like it, the production is awesome, as Rich (gooddelta) says somewhere, it's like a Loreen (Swedish Eurovision star) song. The only annoying thing is that it sounds like she's singing "you wanna fuck about it" :/ As Jonjo says I need an HQ. STAT.
January 14, 201213 yr It actually does sound like f*** occasionally, but that line would make no sense. The Daily Fail are sure to pick up on it. http://www.wearepopslags.com/listen-alexan...rillo-elephant/
January 14, 201213 yr I really do like this on first listen. I was worried that I wouldn't after all this time but it is a really infectious record. It's kind of a mix between 'We Found Love', 'Hello' and the verses remind me of 'The Boy Does Nothing'.
January 14, 201213 yr I really like this new song from her. And I like the idea to do something unusual, house music + pop singer :D
January 14, 201213 yr I really like this at the moment, but I kind of get the feeling that much more could have been done with it, I am not a fan on autotune at the best of times but especially on someone who can SING like Alex. Also, the 'somethings going on, somethings going on with you' bits feel very disjointed. I need an HQ to properly judge the production, but it seems good at the moment, especially the last minute or so.
January 14, 201213 yr I really do like it, I wish there was more chorus "you wanna talk, you wanna talk about it" parts. But why so much autotune? It's not a Rihanna song, Alexandra can sing very well.
January 14, 201213 yr Sometimes "autotune" is used on purpose just to give it a twist, not because an artist cannot sing. Cher was doing it back in 1998, can she actually sing? Of course...
January 14, 201213 yr A poster on PJ: "What a negative way of looking at things. I'm not even a massive Burke fan, but from what I've heard it's more a case of there's two amazing songs that they can't decide what to lead with, rather than desperately searching for a single. It's between the Benny Benassi song and and the Eric Morillo song. The last I was told, it was the latter song that was going to be the single. Twitter: Harry Romero Wrapping up this project with alexandra burke @djjosenunez @ErickMorillo. I can't wait to share it with the world! Tracing back, who was that poster who claimed this? Whoever he is, we should keep an eye on his posts in the future. :P I love how we got the title to 'Elephant' 7 months before its expected release date.
January 14, 201213 yr Someone on Popjustice claims to have found a HQ link, but he's not replied to the poster asking for it... :(
