I have to go to Edinburgh tomorrow morning so my time on here might be limited for a few days ;)
A quick hello from wee Edinburgh 👀. I see the Mirror is talkings load of Bx again and making it up as they go along 🙈
Just reading about Notre Dame Paris...that is really sad ..

It is indeed sad, I can only just look at the headlines. :(

Back to work tomorrow for a rest. :P

Awful. :( Such a beautiful building. It will take years to repair.

Am also saddened about Notre Dame.....thankfully the bell towers have survived, along with a lot of the relics and artwork. As the days move forward, they're going to see what else has survived for any artwork, and hopefully it can be restored...and to think my dad's father might have attended this grand cathedral, as he was from Paris, my dad's dad...

It seems that although devastating - that the cathedral can be renovated.

It will take a lot of time and money but many of the artifacts have been preserved as well as the beautiful façade.

I see that a couple of French tycoons have pledged money towards the work in the news.

Very nice, worth a trip Laura & very easy to get around, good transport facilities . You & Mr S could get a train to Edinburgh , they say that the end of July to end of August is the best time to go with lots of stuff going on ....

I would like to one year.

The weather here today has been so gorgeous - warm and sunny. :yahoo:

Talking about 26 degrees on Monday

For a Bank Holiday - that's unheard of

Yep, I'm sporting the French surname from dear old granddad, to my knowledge, my ever-lovin dad never made it to Paris, but did make it to Bordeaux and Nice to visit family while he was on leave, as the ship he was on was docked in Marseilles in 1960. Dear old dad was in the US Navy. I can go back a couple more generations past granddad on dad's side, with the surname....one tradition that's kind of gone by the wayside is to put up a bottle of wine for each family member born into the family, and have it on a special occasion with said person, once they're old enough, of course...one of my dad's grandmothers was very happy to see my dad, and crack open the bottle of 1938 wine she put up for him....will have to ask dad if he can remember if it was a red wine or a white...

All sounds very interesting Mr B , have you ever thought of taking a trip & visit family .. I love France, all those beautiful villages & towns ...

Sorry to moan  but I have a really bad cold & sore throat at the moment , it's the first long weekend I have had off in ages & I feel miserable :puke:

As much as I'd love to go over to visit, I just don't have enough vacation time where I work, and I just don't have the funds for the trip right now, especially as I wound up taking on a car payment a couple of weeks back to replace my car that was totaled 3 weeks back, along with student loans and 2 credit card payments....

Even looking for a deal on a trip to France, I can't afford it just yet...
