I love Macdonald's but haven't been for ages either.

I remember as a kid, paper straws always got wet and stuck together so you couldn't suck through them.

No - just the paper ones.

Maybe technology has moved on in 50 years - I can't imagine we'll be going back to them however bad plastic is for the environment.

It's crazy the amount of plastic they put with fruit etc, it's not necessary . I try to be as conscious as I can about reducing the amount of plastic I use . It's slowly changing, I see Lidl are the leading supermarket when it comes to change ....

Every week our green bin is chokablok full of recycling stuff. It's mad how much of it there is.

Hope we managed to stay safe during the windy and wet weather this weekend.
A young girl from London has gone missing in Malaysia , she is travelling on an Irish passport, she is 15 years old with learning disabilities , she has been missing for a week, I am praying so hard that they will find her , it is very sad for her family , such a terrible thing to happen
That is indeed worrying. Hope they find her safe and well.

Yes - we've been following this on the news. It's so very sad.

I can't imagine how that must feel - for your child to be lost and you can't find them and protect them. :(

The weather is crazy this summer. So unsettled. One minute it's like a monsoon and the next it's 38 degrees.

It's dreadful Laura , how can someone just disappear like that , I believe she has been taken away, surely they would have found her by now

The strain on her Mum and Dad must be awful.

They've offered a reward today. Let's hope that brings them some news. They are obviously being guided by the Police.

Was without internet at home due to a phone company main phone cable going south, so to speak...have only just had internet come back this past Friday after just over 4 weeks out....the home phone is still not working, 5 weeks on...

Busy is putting it mildly where I work, never a dull moment it seems...as to the weather, it's currently 84F/28.9C, with a humidex of 94F/34.4C at 12.30 a.m. local time. which is EDT here on the east coast of the US, which means we're 5 hours behind GMT...

The bugger of it all is the home phone's STILL not working 5 weeks on now, and my parents are still being billed for the time they had no service at the home here....even my brothers are ticked off that the home phone's still not operational, I'm miffed to a degree the home phone's not working, as my parents are relying on my cell phone to make any necessary calls, and my brothers are calling my phone to talk to me mum...

It ended so badly, I shed tears every time I see it on the news. I am glad that they managed to find her even though it ended terribly , at least the family have her back .

Try living in this country Mr B, it's nothing unusual about having either no internet or a very bad connection. I am lucky as I live in the city where I have great service as there are many offices in the area so it has always been good.

You must be kept busy with all those folks using your phone Mr B, you will have to start charging them a fee :P

Are you going to Kew gardens fairly soon Laura, I remember you mentioning the Chihuly exhibition , pls take some picks & bring back good memories for me, I spent a lovely time at that expo in Seattle ..
