You know what , today was not a good start to the NY ...I washed a dress in a cold wash, the top was white & the bottom was black, the top is now grey & the bottom remains black

& No , I do not have colour catcher & I will not get to the shops this week so that's a dress down the drain :puke2:

Just looked this up again Tess, according to Wikipedia he is listed as composer in occupation and there is more detail in the other work section there.

Wow - what a talented man.

They should make him a Lord while he's still alive and can be proud.

I guess the year can only get better then Tess. ;)

Took our tree down today and all the decorations.

Onward and upward to spring now. :yahoo:

I take down my crib, decorations after the 6th

I found it very hard to sleep last night, I guess it was because I have been off for a week & return to work today

Ouch Tess, not an ideal start to 2018 but things can only get better from that start I hope.

Our tree was down yesterday, also put away in the loft as I was home.

Methinks mum will take the tree down this weekend upcoming, not totally sure on it, though....

You were lucky to have New Year's Day off, Syd, and I say that due to the fact I was scheduled to work for the day....not me favorite thing to do, work on a holiday....

Working NYD is against my religion , actually working any BH does my head in

Do people still get cards in the post, I do , I think it's a really nice tradition , maybe it's the old fashioned gal in me ...

What New Year cards you mean or Christmas cards?

We received and sent Christmas cards.

Christmas cards, I love seeing them come in the door & then I can stick them on my mantlepiece

I did get a New Year card yesterday , a neighbour of my sister who passed away a number of years ago sent it , it was kind of her to remember so a card can have a lot of meaning to it :)

I got a bunch o da dust using da vacuum today....

Real tree or fake?

Mum has an artificial tree....she hasn't had a real tree since about 1984......I remember having a real tree, tho...

My parents always had a real Xmas tree, I can well remember the scent that came off it , really lovely, my Dad used to put the tree in a wide large wide coal in a bucket, add about two inches of water & then wrap the bucket in decorations that he made himself , the tree used to last for ages & did not lose it's pine needles quickly

He then used the coal for the fire when all the tree was taken down , he was well into recycling before it was ever trendy :P

We always used to have fake but the last three years had a real one. I prefer them. I like the wonkiness of them. :)

What a great tribute

Did you see Glam Rock early 1970's the BBC last night , it was on BBC 4 .... I loved the music, hair, clothes, just fab... artists included T Rex Roxy Music, David Bowie, Alice Cooper, Suzie Quatro, Queen, Elton John, Sparks , & many more & a special performance by Cilla Black & the beautiful Marc Bolan who tragically got killed at a young age
