Glad he got his happy ending in life. ^_^

The guy who played Elton, was he good ...

Yes he was - but it didn't feel like an impersonation - more an interpretation. He was very good.

Without giving too much away - Mostly I found it sad. If you're made to feel worthless - however much you achieve in your life - you will still feel worthless.

Did it come across that way Laura , I do not know too much about Eltons background ...I read somewhere that his Mother was a strong character

The first half hour is all about his childhood Tess - there wasn't much love in the house.

I've heard him talk about his childhood a lot and some of the things that took place are in the film.

Your heart bleeds for the little boy he was.

But I guess that gave him the momentum to achieve what he did. And he found love in the end. ^_^

Him and David Furnish have been together 25 years - that's a life time in Showbiz years isn't it?

That is indeed a long time for showbiz..

Crocodile Rock always manages to galvanise me from his repertoire...

Was there anything about his Dad, I never heard him mentioned

Yes - it focusses a lot on his relationship with his Dad.

The Donald comes to Ireland next week , he flies into Shannon airport where I happen to work. Today we received a notification from out HR dept at work telling us that we will have to have a letter from the company plus some form of photographic ID otherwise we will not be allowed to enter the airport & surrounding area from Wednesday morning until Friday when he leaves again. It's a joke , this is the second time that I have had to put up with this mayhem, the same happened when George Bust came here , 2.5k police were bussed in from all over the country to mind him. Bill Clinton came here & walked around & nobody touched him, no hoo ha ... the flights go past our office window as the runway is just down the road, i think I will go out & protest -_-

Go out and stand on the runway Tess with a banner :lame:

What date is he coming to London?

I haven't done anything about taking the day off to protest. I did last time and it felt very satisfying.

I pity the Queen having to give him tea. :puke:

I've had a nice couple of days but "strange" too.

An old friend of mine who I swap Christmas cards with contacted me via my daughter's FB to tell me a colleague of ours from the late 1980s had passed away.

She lives in Northumberland and was coming down to Epsom for the funeral.

I invited her to stay at our house which she did. ^_^

So we met up - I hadn't seen her nor spoken to her in 26 years but it was like we had never been apart. We worked together for 9 years and always got on well and just resumed our friendship. We laughed a lot and it was so nice. ^_^

We went to our colleagues funeral and all these people were there that I used to work with and also hadn't seen for 28 years. Everyone looked the same - just older. :o

Then last night she came out with my friends now.

So it was like two world's colliding - my past (single, no children) life colliding with my present (Mum, Nanny married 29 years) life and I had to keep reminding myself that we hadn't spoken to each other in all that time. It was as if that whole quarter of a century hadn't happened. It was very surreal - in a lovely way.

She's gone home again now but we'll see each other soon and it won't just be Christmas cards we exchange.

Life can be funny sometimes can't it?

That is a lovely story Laura, I know exactly what you mean though , I have friends from the days I used to live in flats & while we do not see each a lot we do meet up a couple of times a year & it's like it was only yesterday since we had last met each other & we natter on about what each other are doing , etc etc. . Some people you just click with & that is even the same with new friends that you meet along the way , you just like each others company , find you have things in common & get on , no pretences, it's just ' is what it is warts & all ' :P . The Irish are great at meeting up at weddings & funerals, you meet people you have not met in years & we all say & "how are you keeping , you havent' aged a bit '"

Lovely you met your friend again Laura ...

there was a lot of that going on. ^_^

Had that happen to me when I went to my 20 tear high school reunion....a lot of 'you haven't changed a bit' directed my way.....of course, I did not recognize several of my class mates, as they changed hair, gained or lost weight, or completely changed their look where I had no clue who some were...my sister-in-law's sister who graduated in my class, said 'well, that's an A*** brother if I ever saw one', as I was walking away from her upon leaving my hotel room...

My problem is names - I knew I knew them but their names had slipped my mind in the ensuing 30 years. -_-

Same happened to me at my 20 year reunion....drew blank on several names.....then again, there were a number of classmates who forgot my name, but recognized my face....

O :o Poor Anthony Joshua , what a gorgeous smile that man has , far to handsome for that awful boxing game

Irish girl Katie Taylor won, she is running out of opponents ... I would hate to get a wallop from her , she boxes hard :)

Just looked up some documents on the computer. Apparently I have planned 15 church routes consisting of 117 churches. :o

and the man who beat him was so out of condition. :o Just brute force.

Still AJ will come back stronger for it I imagine - that's the mark of a great champion.
