October 8, 201311 yr Author I didn't say that people with only a good voice should go on The Voice at all... I meant that in that show The Voice is ALL that matters, and people act like that about X-Factor too - when it's not the case at all. It's simply not about just having a voice, hence the name... Like John said, Olly Murs is hardly Freddie Mercury or Prince vocally, but he is incredibly charismatic, likeable and attractive. Coupled with great material, he has been very successful, same with 1D really. ANd looks don't even really come into it either. It does help, but it's just the whole aura that really embodies The X Factor that matters to me. Alexandra wasn't ugly, but she's not Beyonce or anything yet still had 'it'. Of course it's not the same as The Voice and they don't look for exactly the same things as each other, but sometimes on The X Factor a certain quality is valued over the one quality that really is what makes the person even valid for the show - the voice. If all they have going for them is looks why are they not on a modelling competition? That's basically the same as asking why people without charisma or the so-called 'X Factor' don't go on The Voice... A good voice is (or should be) the basis of a show like this, whereas everything else just adds to your package. There are plenty of people who have come out of The X Factor as unlikeable w*n**rs too.
