1D at #1 :cheer: and with a massive lead by the looks of things! Video drops on Wednesday so hopefully it can stay ahead the whole week and get them their 4th #1 (or 5th but I try to forget Wishing On a Star happened).

She actually doesn't, she even plainly said that on Twitter the other day.

 At people believing that. I guess last minute changing of 2nd single from Venus to Do what you want, wasn't anything thing to do with the success the latter was receiving. Then having to tack on an impromptu performance of DWYW to her X factor performance because of the change of 2nd single to chase sales and chart positions didn't happen either. I guess also tweeting rewarding the fan who tweets proof of as many downloads of Applause as possible also is just coincidence.

Story of My life - 119% Vs Royals - 58%.

But it won't chart like other GAGA's Promo, it's includes all the pre orders.

Yes it will. It's the first instant grat!

1D's OA/OS release, Tinie's delayed release, Lady Gaga's two ineligible tracks, our weekly Bieber... the chart's a bit of a shambles at the moment, innit?
That's bizarre - if you don't care how much your music sells, WTF's the point of releasing it in the first place??

She probably cares more about reaching out to people and getting the chance to perform. She's probably happy these days maintaining her fanbase, and that probably explains why she's no longer even trying to appeal to casual music fans.

Yea, judged by her new songs she is not even trying to go the safe route (also known as the Katy Perry/Max Martin/David Guetta route)

There's always something cool happening in her songs which might prevent them getting airplay but keeps her and her songs interesting.

No, not really.

Staggered & different releases make things a little more interesting and unpredictable. If all releases were at 12:01 on a Sunday we can virtually predict the Top 40 by Sunday lunchtime.

The only thing that disappoints me is that there are a few too many new entries each week at the moment.

I realised at the start of the 'Born This Way' era that Gaga was mainly making music for her fans and for touring and thought it'd be a one-off album made especially for that purpose. This era pretty much continues to cement that though, and trying to be an objective loon, it's refreshing that she's not actually following the trend and taking safe options like i thought she would with this era. She knows she's alienating a fair bit of the public but good on her for not letting it affect the music or the way she acts.

She has stressed that this is all about the album first and foremost with 'ARTPOP' and gave that as a reason for practically premiering the entire thing before it hits the shelves so people can hear the full thing and then decide if they want to buy it or not. She's going further into fanbase territory but with such a mammoth fanbase behind her that's no bad thing commercially for her and she'll still be a force to reckon with on the touring/merchandise/ and perhaps album front (though that's still to be determined). If her singles sell well and reach out beyond the fanbase then that will obviously be welcomed but i don't think that's her priority anymore.

 4. Recovery - Justin Bieber

It looks like this is going to make it to #3 on iTunes so doing better, at least initially, than 'Hold Tight'. Whether it'll sell more remains to be seen of course.

Lorde down to 0.4980. Eep. 1D probably are coming for #1 if they have that big a lead (and a second version in the top 20).

Fatboy Slim already down to #5, ooops :drama:

Only just realised OneD are #1 :o looks like they have #1 in the bag considering they have a big lead over Lorde. I just feel the weekly #1 is coming back.

The chart is a bit of a mess really, as everything will move 2 places up in the official chart, to filter out the 2 Lady Gaga tracks.

No.78 Swedish House Mafia - Don't You Worry Child

Yes it will. It's the first instant grat!

It won't, It's doing 2 months of pre orders, just like DWYW, it doesn't matter it's their first, what about BSE? that was the first.

Best Song Ever wasn't an instant grat.

An instant grat is a song that's made available to download from the pre-order of an album, which automatically downloads if you pre-order the album (but can also be bought separately). Only one of these per album is allowed to chart. If songs are released as standalone singles then there's no problem.
