And I'll count down the top 40 with links, commentary and a detailed history documenting my first listen and the feelings it evoked as well as various other anecdotes related to the tracks in question (okay maybe not) because every single one of them is a gem. I keep coming back to Grizzly Bear over and over again. Shields is one of the albums of the decade and given how they've improved with each album they've released, I'm scared at how good their fifth will be (see Gang Gang Dance too). Most of the tracks you've pointed towards as being overrated, I've got bored of quite quickly, so I guess you might be right!

 

The Los Campesinos! and Fuck Buttons albums I've really struggled to get into (well, albums as a whole this year, oops), but they might reward a more patient listener. :D And if something could beat Wings then I suppose I'd better check it out!

 

I know your top 100 of the decade wasn't too long ago, but I hope you're doing another for 2013 too!

39. Foals "My Number"

 

Brilliant! Only their 3rd T40 hit in the UK, following "Balloons" (which I have on CD and 7") and "Cassius". Probably their most pop moment to date and obviously R1 play helped garner some support. I really love this though and it peaked at #3 for me.

 

#38 Cyril Hahn "Perfect Form"

 

First introduced to this Swiss dance producer on Jessie Ware's "Sweet Talk" single where he does a great remix of the track. I only just got around to hearing this and I obviously love anything Deep House so I am absolutely besotted by this at the moment. It probably helps that the video has loads of clouds in it of course. Slowly working its way up my chart and last Sunday climbed to #16.

Brilliant! Only their 3rd T40 hit in the UK, following "Balloons" (which I have on CD and 7") and "Cassius". Probably their most pop moment to date and obviously R1 play helped garner some support. I really love this though and it peaked at #3 for me.

 

#38 Cyril Hahn "Perfect Form"

 

First introduced to this Swiss dance producer on Jessie Ware's "Sweet Talk" single where he does a great remix of the track. I only just got around to hearing this and I obviously love anything Deep House so I am absolutely besotted by this at the moment. It probably helps that the video has loads of clouds in it of course. Slowly working its way up my chart and last Sunday climbed to #16.

Perfect Form will never get old. Foxes' vocals are dead annoying and this is the only song of hers that I like :( x

This tune brought life into dreich Glaswegian Januaries. I listened to this a lot on the way to Lidl and as such it will forever be associated with there.
