I have compiled my Top 40 singles and Top 10 albums. Since I am sans money, I wont be buying any more albums this year :snif: so it seems right to kick this off now.
For anyone who cares, the cut off point for single releases was Monday (18/11/13) and in terms of chart runs, my most recent chart (#172) is the cut off.

As ever, my countdown will be sponsored by men who have brought me joy in some way. This year they are:

And off we go! Woo etc.

Album Top 10

10 | Katy Perry - PRISM

http://wp.patheos.com.s3.amazonaws.com/blogs/poptheology/files/2013/11/2013-10-21-KatyPerryPrismDeluxeVersion.jpg

UK Peak: #1

Regina Album of the Week? - No

Top 5:

1 | Legendary Lovers

2 | Roar

3 | Ghost

4 | This Moment

5 | This Is How We Do

I want your energy, I want your oral.

KittyKat's 4th album (if we include her Christian one) and a good follow up to Teenage Dream.

Not much progression from that TD sound, despite what was said before it's release. It's this fact that prevents it being any higher up on my list here.

That said, the high points of this album are very high and rank with her best songs, sadly, the lows rank with her very worst. There is no inbetween songs on this album.

09 | Matt Cardle - Porcelain

UK Peak: #11

Regina Album of the Week? - Yes

Top 5:

1 | Loving You (feat. Melanie C)

2 | In Chains

3 | Hit My Heart

4 | Not Over You

5 | When You Were My Girl

Oh Matt, my dear Matty. I still love you. He was never going to beat Letters in terms of quality albums, but Porcelain comes close. Much better than The Fire, although there is still something lacking.

Alas, he is not the force he once was in my charts or indeed in my heart. However, he continues to be one of my favourite singers and I still adore his music.

There is alot to love about this album, lead single LY especially. If he could make an album full of songs like that, he'd be onto a winner.

'Porcelain' is fab too, and great to see the dedicayshun to 'Loving You' thurr

Regina Album of the Week? - Yes

Top 5:

1 | Venus
2 | Gypsy
3 | Donatella
4 | Aura
5 | Do What U Want (feat. R Kelly)

YES. Gaga. YES. DWUW (that bloody song keeps growing on me, damn you Gaga)
I like to mock Gagz, and her fans, but I can't help but love her and her music. BTW was a masterpiece and I didn't think she could top it. Applause was good, then great,
then less great and is not a steady very good. I hated DWUW at first but then VENUS arrived. On the whole, this is a very VERY good album, the few duds in the pile are easily
overshadowed by the greats on the album. Her diction lets her down sometimes though, Dope I am looking at you.

07 | Within Temptation - The Q-Music Sessions

Regina Album of the Week? - Yes (2 weeks)

Top 5:

1 | Grenade
2 | Dirty Dancer
3 | Don't You Worry Child
4 | Let Her Go
5 | Skyfall

Ever wondered what a symphonic rock cover of Dirty Dancer by Enrique Iglesias would sound like? Or how Let Her Go by Passenger would sound when sung by someone who could
actually sing? Wonder no more. As part of a celebration of 15 years of WT, they recorded some amazing covers for a radio station and eventually relased them on an album. Sadly some of the songs were emitted, but I got good quality mp3's and plonked them on the end. Sharon den Adel has the most perfect voice in the world and she does justice to all the songs on the album, not one bad cover on this album. Never officially released here (boo) but you can get it on import.

06 | Stereophonics - Graffiti On The Train

UK Peak: #3
Regina Album of the Week? - Yes

Top 5:

1 | Indian Summer
2 | Graffiti On The Train
3 | Been Caught Cheating
4 | We Share The Same Sun
5 | Violins & Tambourines

Another male act piercing my top 10 albums and one act that sticks out against the usual Regina tastes. I've been a Phonics fan for ages and was gutted when last album,
Keep Calm & Carry On, flopped on its arse because it was amzeballs. Fortunes turned for the band when this album came out. Indian Summer turned into a little bit of a hit
and the album went top 3 and had sold pretty well. Such a great album, different to their previous stuff, but still with their stamp on it. Time will tell if any of the singles made it
to my top 40 singles countdown, but it's a safe bet at least one will.

05 | Cher - Closer To The Truth
http://www.muumuse.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/chercloser.jpg

UK Peak: #4
Regina Album of the Week? - Yes

Top 5:

1 | I Hope You Find It
2 | My Love
3 | I Walk Alone
4 | Woman's World
5 | Red

Who knew? Cher still has it. The living relic managed to get a top 5 album and a top 40 hit this year, several years since she last attacked the charts. Living Proof remains
a forgotten classic, but this has managed to be an actual success for the old girl. Typical Cher camp dance tunes mixed in with some very touching ballads, everything people
love about her tbh. The voice is as deep and powerful as ever and she pours emotion into those ballads and injects a fair bit of fun into the bangers. The fact that P!nk wrote two tracks and provides some backing vocals to one makes it even better.
'Closer to the Truth' Such a good album! Need to check out more of her stuff ~
Prism, ARTPOP and Closer To The Truth  Especially Prism, obv. not as good as Teenage Dream but Roar and Uncondtioanlly pretty much slay everything she's done except Firework, Hot N Cold and maybe E.T.

Her 80's rock stuff >>>> everything else

Are y'all excited for the final 4 albums? Predictions on what they may be?

At least SOMEONE has their finger on the pulse.

What a fantastic Top 10 albums list so far! Both PRISM and ARTPOP took several listens to grow but now they are really, really good. Singles aside my favourites from each album are 'Legendary Lovers'/'Walking On Air'/'Dark Horse'/'Birthday' and 'G.U.Y'/'Artpop'/'Gypsy'.

Not listened to the albums from Matt Cardle or Within Temptation (I'm sorry!) but 'Loving You' and 'Skyfall' are truly magnificent. I was impressed with Graffiti on the Train when I listened to it on release, particularly liking 'Been Caught Cheating' (Amy Winehouse inspired, is it not?).

Closer to the Truth is up their with Cher's back catalogue for me. The two singles are among my favourites of the year and 'I Walk Alone' and 'Favourite Scars' are two I want to be singles.
