December 4, 201311 yr I concur with your hate choices so far Daniel, these are definitely within my most reviled tracks of the year! '#Music Mondays' :manson:
December 4, 201311 yr Author Moving on to the top 5... 05 - Bruno Mars "When I Was Your Man" CR(UK) -> 46-7-7-7-2-4-4-6-9-10-15-20-21-21-21-25-23-32-29-38-45-48-59-67-x-75-74-75-x-66-x (28 weeks) ekzHIouo8Q4 It's not as bad as 'Grenade', 'The Lazy Song' or 'Marry You' - but it's still awful and so so dull. It got so overplayed to the point where I can't listen to it anymore. The whole song is backed by a single piano, which can be a good thing sometimes (Adele 'Someone Like You') but in this case it just makes it even more boring than it already was with that voice and those lyrics. The sooner he fades into irrelevance, the better, as a large percentage of his songs aren't worth listening to.
December 4, 201311 yr Author 04 - Demi Lovato "Heart Attack" CR -> 3-11-10-12-18-19-20-24-30-33-30-41-46-56-72-x (15 weeks) AByfaYcOm4A 03 - Demi Lovato "Skyscraper" CR -> 32-54-x-59-13-7-21-32-48-72-x (9 weeks) r_8ydghbGSg I may as well discuss both of her songs in one post as they happen to be charting next-to each other. The thing I hate about her is her voice and the way she screeches in certain places of these 2 songs. 'Skyscraper' is technically a 2011 song but I forgot about its existence until The X Factor boosted it back into popularity. I hope Sam Bailey doesn't get this as her winner's single because she deserves a much better song, but to be fair she would sing it much better than Demi. 'Heart Attack' is actually from this year however and in the year of former disney stars doing well, she was bound to have a hit. Unfortunately it was awful in my opinion (obviously, otherwise it wouldn't be in my hate chart) and I remember muting it during the chart show on a few occasions as it was that unlistenable.
December 4, 201311 yr Author 02 - One Direction "Best Song Ever" CR(UK) -> 2-5-9-14-12-15-18-21-29-33-44-48-51-59-66-x-69-57-42- (18 weeks) o_v9MY_FMcw And to the surprise of some of you, One Direction are not my #1 hated of the year :o Who else could it be? :o 'Best Song Ever' was the first single released off their new album which has somehow done even better in its first week than their first 2 albums, which proves that they aren't going anywhere. From the title 'Best Song Ever' I had a feeling that I wouldn't like this song. My feeling was right - with crap lyrics and a song that sounded like their other hits, it was never going to appeal to me. Fortunately the British public saw sense and didn't buy this to #1. Even better, it was stopped by none other than Avicii :D Edited December 4, 201311 yr by Decemeter
December 4, 201311 yr Can't argue with most of these hates. 'Heart Attack' is the only one of them that I particularly like, though 'We Can't Stop' and a couple of the Bieber songs ('Recovery' and 'PYD' to be precise) are also decent. Many of the others would be high up in my hates of the year as well. I'd actually completely forgotten 'When I Was Your Man' existed somehow. Such a terrible song, the 2 singles he's released since are far better as was 'Locked Out Of Heaven', so of course 'WIWYM' would be the biggest hit out of them. (Actually I'm not sure it even outsold 'Locked Out Of Heaven' but it still seems like the bigger hit even if it didn't).
December 4, 201311 yr Author When I Was Your Man has sold 570k whereas Locked Out of Heaven has sold 750k, so yeah the latter was bigger - but I haven't liked anything from his new era (I am very thankful that 'Gorilla' is flopping) Edited December 4, 201311 yr by Decemeter
December 4, 201311 yr Author 01 - P!nk feat. Nate Ruess "Just Give Me A Reason" CR(UK) -> 74-24-16-10-4-3-3-2-2-3-5-7-8-10-14-14-19-26-26-32-36-37-46-51-54-60-55-54-64-70-x-72-65-65-x (33 weeks) OpQFFLBMEPI And at #1 it is the most overrated song of the year - 'Just Give Me A Reason' was the 3rd single from P!nk's latest album which I never liked to begin with, but it was never off the radio and everyone except me and a few other people (most notably Michael) loved it. Thankfully by some miracle it was held off #1 by a shock re-entry from Ant and Dec (and less miraculously it was also stopped by Duke Dumont). The screech note is one factor leading to me hating this song, but the main reasons why it's at #1 is because I find it dull, and of course overplay which made it worse. The hate top 10 in full: 01 // P!nk feat. Nate Ruess "Just Give Me A Reason" 02 // One Direction "Best Song Ever" 03 // Demi Lovato "Skyscraper" 04 // Demi Lovato "Heart Attack" 05 // Bruno Mars "When I Was Your Man" 06 // One Direction "One Way Or Another (Teenage Kicks)" 07 // Miley Cyrus "We Can't Stop" 08 // One Direction "Story Of My Life" 09 // Justin Bieber "#MusicMondays" 10 // The Wanted "Show Me Love (America)" Now that's over, from here it's all love, love, and more love  My favourite albums of the year will be revealed soon!
December 5, 201311 yr Indifferent about the Pink track, hate the 1D, Demi x2, and Burno Mars tracks. :D
December 7, 201311 yr Author Next up I will be talking through my favourite albums of the year. All 3 of them to be exact. There will be 2 'contenders' and 1 album of the year. Last year Calvin Harris won the award for his album '18 Months'. But who will it be this year? Armin van Buuren, Avicii or Disclosure? Well we can be certain that it's not Disclosure: Album Of The Year Contender: Disclosure "Settle" http://s16.postimg.org/g4entr0w5/disclosure_settle_1500x1500_1370291426.jpg And starting off the best albums of the year is the debut album from Disclosure, featuring fresh housey beats and great vocalists throughout - what's not to love? With 8 top 50 hits, 4 of those going top 10 - they've certainly had a great year. One of the top 10 hits in question wasn't even chosen as a single, but made a great impression on me when the album was released. Some of these songs will be appearing in my hot 100 of the year. Chart Hits: 04 Disclosure feat. Eliza Doolittle "You & Me" (18-9-4-10-9-9-4-5-15-16-31-43-x-48) (13 weeks) 05 Disclosure feat. Jessie Ware "Confess To Me" (5-8-25-27-49) (5 weeks) 06 Disclosure feat. AlunaGeorge "White Noise" (22-6-11-11-8-9-10-13-29-30-36-27-19-16-15-22-43-39-17-31-48-29-35-46) (24 weeks) 07 Disclosure feat. Sam Smith "Latch" (22-7-35-31-15-19-12-18-38-19-26-29-21-28-34-27-31-32-37-32-16-38-x-40-48-x-33-34-26) (27 weeks) 11 Disclosure "When A Fire Starts To Burn" (20-11-31-13-44-49) (6 weeks) 21 Disclosure feat. Sasha Keable "Voices" (28-21-x-31-50) (4 weeks) 27 Disclosure "F For You" (35-27-40-42-47) (5 weeks) 27 Disclosure "Tenderly" (27-47) (2 weeks) Recommendation: QREPr2ripbo
December 7, 201311 yr Author Next up in my short albums review is an album from a trance legend who experimented with progressive house in his new album, whilst still keeping his trancy sound. It also scored him his first UK chart hit in over 10 years. It is... Album Of The Year Contender: Armin van Buuren "Intense" http://s21.postimg.org/neqx1hauv/intense_600x600.jpg ...Armin van Buuren, with his fifth studio album. It's easy to see why he is one of the biggest DJs ever with music as good as this. In the title track, he mixes the sounds of violinist Miri-Ben Ari with his own trance beats in a 9-minute epic. 'This Is What It Feels Like', which I will discuss properly later, is his most commercial song of the album and whilst it may be seen as selling out, it's still got great melodies that he is known for. The vocalist choices on the album are great too, with talent like Emma Hewitt, Laura Jansen and Fiora. And his most recent single, 'Beautiful Life' is, as the title suggests, beautiful. Chart Hits: 01 Armin Van Buuren feat. Trevor Guthrie "This Is What It Feels Like" (16-19-33-13-15-2-1-1-5-6-15-27-26-41-37-20-50) (17 weeks) 07 Armin Van Buuren feat. Cindy Alma "Beautiful Life" (33-11-21-48-x-45-x-15-7-12-48) (9 weeks) 18 Armin Van Buuren feat. Miri Ben-Ari "Intense" (18-20-34-50) (4 weeks) 30 Armin Van Buuren feat. Fiora "Waiting For The Night" (30-31-48) (3 weeks) 35 Armin Van Buuren feat. Laura Jansen "Sound Of The Drums" (37-35) (2 weeks) Recommendation: 6UoNXz0Ox-g&noredirect=1
December 8, 201311 yr Author Album Of The Year: Avicii "True" http://s13.postimg.org/4ek48todj/avicii_true_album.jpg Was anyone else going to get my album of the year? I've been a big fan of Avicii since 2010, when he got onto my EDM-radar with 'Seek Bromance' and 'My Feelings For You'. But it's this year when my looning for him got to extreme levels (pun not intended), and when I heard he was releasing his debut album I wet my pants with excitement (not literally, but you get the idea). And he certainly didn't disappoint. The two leading singles, 'Wake Me Up' and 'You Make Me' are contenders for best song of the year - and the new single 'Hey Brother' is my current #1 and is climbing the UK singles chart. Avicii isn't like most DJs who try to make their drops as beefy and bassy as possible, instead getting the right mix of melody and bass when the beat drops. Don't get me wrong I love an epic bass drop, but Avicii is a breath of fresh air amongst other DJs and who wants everyone to be the same? Imo he has the entire package, fantastic beats, drops, sounds, melodies and vocalists. And he even experiments with other genres such as country (a genre that I usually hate, but Avicii makes it amazing). I'm also planning to see his live show when he comes to London, which I'm sure will be a night to remember with many hands-in-the-air moments! He has a record 7 #1s in my personal chart, 5 of which hit #1 this year - so this definitely won't be the last you hear of him in this thread. ^_^ Chart Hits: 01 Avicii feat. Aloe Blacc "Wake Me Up" (1-4-1-1-1-1-1-1-2-2-2-4-2-1-3-4-10-7-16-15-21-28-34-22-18) (25 weeks) 01 Avicii "You Make Me" (2-1-1-4-5-4-2-7-14-16-15-22) (12 weeks) 01 Avicii "Hey Brother" (12-28-x-1-1) (4 weeks) 02 Avicii "Dear Boy" (2-7-37-x-32-34-x-44-x-41-5) (8 weeks) 04 Avicii "Hope There's Someone" (4-18-40) (3 weeks) 05 Avicii "Addicted To You" (5-29) (2 weeks) 08 Avicii "Shame On Me" (8-37) (2 weeks) 09 Avicii "All You Need Is Love" (1 week) 10 Avicii "Lay Me Down" (1 week) 11 Avicii "Liar Liar" (11-22) (2 weeks) 13 Avicii "Long Road To Hell" (1 week) 43 Avicii "Edom" (1 week) 45 Avicii "Heart Upon My Sleeve" (1 week) 46 Avicii "Canyons" (1 week) Recommendation: seKrfTa-3yk
December 9, 201311 yr Never any doubt about that #1 album (not listened to it yet!). Nice to see Disclosure there. Heard 'You & Me' out last night and it's still such a jam.
December 10, 201311 yr Author The Hot 100 will be starting soon! I know you're all excited as to what's in it. Firstly, nothing from last year's top 100 has been allowed in. December 10, 201311 yr Pretty decent so far, really like Disclosure's album, only song I like in the worst is Pink though 'Story...' is One D's best by a long way. These are all good: Arctic Monkeys "Do I Wanna Know?" Arctic Monkeys "Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?" Bastille "Laura Palmer" Carli "Look Up" Faul feat. Wad Ad "Changes" Imagine Dragons "It's Time" Jason Derulo "The Other Side" Justin Timberlake feat. Jay-Z "Suit & Tie" Justin Timberlake "Take Back The Night" Kendrick Lamar "Swimming Pools (Drank)" Kanye West "Bound 2" Matrix & Futurebound feat. Baby Blue "Magnetic Eyes" Sophie "Bipp" Vance Joy "Riptide"
December 10, 201311 yr Great list there. None of those are glaring omissions but Magnetic Eyes, Don't Stop The Party, and Blackout are especially good!

Stylo G 09 Soundbwoy Notes: *all chart histories have only taken charts from the Buzzjack era into account - so any chart hits from Jan - Aug 2010 will not be represented here. **"total estimated sales figures" are my last fm scrobbles of all versions of the song up to 11 December 2013, 18:10 - which have been multiplied by 10,000 to make them seem more like sales figures of my fictional BJSC participating country, Danaelanda. The chart is not purely based on last fm playcount, which is why some songs with lower 'sales' are higher in the chart. ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ So the top 100 has officially taken lift off! And coincidentally that is the name of my #100 single, the first of two W&W entries in the chart. It's a fun song with a nice beat to it, and that's what they're all about - and this year has been big for them in the EDM scene. Keep it up guys! Next up at #99 is the comeback single from Tinie Tempah, which is very good. I love how he came back on a trap beat - however overall this era's been a bit of disappointment. Only #7 in my weekly chart for a comeback single is pretty poor considering the amount of top 5's he has had. And 'Children of the Sun' did even worse, not even making the top 25! Drum n' bassers Camo & Krooked are in at #98. I was introduced to this song by my brother who is a massive fan, and I was not disappointed. The drop here is simple but effective. John Newman enters at #97 with huge UK #1 single 'Love Me Again' which infamously won the "battle" against The Saturdays' 'Gentleman' which was much hyped around Buzzjack following a campaign from SevenSeize to outloon the Sats loons with John Newman spam. Finishing the section off is the one-hit wonder Stylo G with "Soundbwoy", which is a mix between reggae and dubstep which was a summer jam. ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ Recap: 096. Stylo G "Soundbwoy" 097.
