Notes:

*all chart histories have only taken charts from the Buzzjack era into account - so any chart hits from Jan - Aug 2010 will not be represented here.

**"total estimated sales figures" are my last fm scrobbles of all versions of the song up to 11 December 2013, 18:10 - which have been multiplied by 10,000 to make them seem more like sales figures of my fictional BJSC participating country, Danaelanda. The chart is not purely based on last fm playcount, which is why some songs with lower 'sales' are higher in the chart.

◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊

Starting off section 2 is Gorgon City with their breakthrough single "Real" which almost went top 40 in the UK. I'm sure they will get there very soon when new single and #1 contender "Ready For Your Love" is released. Yasmin's soulful vocals and City's deep house style go very well together and the single I mentioned will surely be a future smash in my chart as it just gives us more of the style they show in "Real".

Dizzee Rascal up next with his surprise comeback single which has a dirty bassline and is just a fun track. I'm glad this took off as it's a lot better than his more commercial singles of the era.

The next entry is the first of a number of Danaelandan BJSC entries. For those of you who aren't in BJSC, firstly, you should, and secondly, Danaelanda is the country I participate with. Unfortunately this summery tune from Stone & Van Linden was a massive flop, only getting a few votes in its semi.

The second and last W&W entry is in at #92. "Thunder" really shows the good side of this duo, with its melodic buildup and its fierce drop, and like I said earlier this only way for them is up really.

Finishing the section is Sander van Doorn et al with "Into the Light" which has lovely vocals and a fab melody, this is the kind of prog house that I love.

Into section III now and we start with Quintino & Alvaro with BJSC flop "World In Our Hands" which has a vocal which may seem generic (we've got the world in our hands isn't exactly an underused cliché) but it works well, and with a drop that surprised me the first time I heard it as I was expecting something melodic after that buildup. It's a great tune though. And looking through my Quintino chart history, I can't believe I never charted "Epic". :o

Knife Party next with le track de choix off their latest EP 'Haunted House' which was one of the biggest club hits of the year. The EP itself was quite disappointing but hey, at least they gave us a banger in 'LRAD'.

Next up is a man who has had an eventful year, having been in the news a lot for his relationship with Kim K, it's Kanye West with his first single off the new album, which in true Kanye egotistical fashion, was named Yeezus. 'Black Skinhead' is a great song though, quite uncommercial for him but it works.

At #87 is a song I discovered from Griff in BJSC, Plezier with his almost self-titled 'Plezier Anthem', is a nice housey instrumental which was released in late 2012 but it passed me by until it was entered. It's not the highest non-Danaelanda BJSC entry in the chart but still what a great discovery this was.

Finishing off the section is Taylor Swift with a song that I'm sure you are all aware of. It happens to be her best song to date, with her leaving her country roots for a more poppy sound with dubstep influences. And it was also the center of a viral video where goats were screaming some notes of the song.

Starting off the next section is Bra's favourite song of the year, the debut single from Lorde which was a massive hit in the UK. I quite liked it too which is why it's in my chart.

At #84 is the first of two entries for Armin van Buuren. I have already talked about how good his album is, and this is definitely a standout and yay for it being chosen as a single. Not so yay for it flopping but it was to be expected.

Next up is Jessie J with the first single off her second album, which has been quite a success for her considering that popstars generally struggle with album #2. 'Wild' is quite refreshing for her, singing over a hip-hop beat and we even get 2 guest verses from some of the biggest names in rap.

London Grammar were never an act that I expected to like, after listening to 'Wasting My Young Years' I dismissed them as a dull act. But then 'Strong' came, which is quite good in its original form, but the version really worth listening to is the High Contrast remix which brings life to her lovely vocals. It's amazing what a remix can do.

Finishing the section off is Drake who tells us how he started from the bottom in this short catchy rap. He still has one more entry to come in this chart.

At #80 is Ben Pearce with his surprise UK hit 'What I Might Do', which had been a big club hit for ages and then suddenly it blew up in the UK. It's a cool deep house track with soulful vocals.

Next up is Carly Rae Jepsen with a song that I love despite it being such a basic bitch pop song. It's a fun song about breaking up which has a generic, but good, breakdown.

Nicky Romero is up next, and despite only peaking at #32 (what?!?) it manages to enter my end of year chart. Helped by the production and vocal skills of NERVO, it's a really good example of progressive house.

Entering at #77 is a man who released his best single in ages, Jason Derulo with help from 2 Chainz make a sexy RnB jam avec saxophone breakdown and random Asian girl saying his name. What's not to love?

Finishing off the section is TJR who had a big club hit in late 2012 with this which I continued loving into 2013. I love the 'oi' chanting and the drop in this, he has a style which is not seen in the charts often so this song is very welcome in my chart.

Into the 2nd quarter of the chart, we start with Fatboy Slim, a man who didn't have a hit single for years until this song came around, the main hook of the song being a popular meme in dance circles. It then was given the Calvin Harris treatment for general release and imo he made the song a lot better. Calvin still has quite a few songs left in this chart, they are his collabs with Alesso, Ayah Marar, Ellie Goulding and Tinie Tempah.

At #74 is our first official Danaelandan #1 single of 21 - 3 of which went to #1 in 2012. It is Tiësto et al with the progressive house banger "Love and Run" which was also a BJSC flop. It also holds the record for biggest drop from #1, having slipped down to #12 after its second week at #1.

Showtek enter at #73 with UK chart breakthrough "Booyah". Its main appeal is the features that are different to your average house track, they manage to mix the song into a drum n' bass beat and back into the main tune which surprisingly works well.

A foreign BJSC entry next, this one coming from Manufactured Superstars with their instrumental 'Zombies In Love' which has a simple but infectious melody.

Finally we get to James Arthur with his winning single of X-Factor 2012, a cover of Shontelle's 'Impossible'. The original only made #39 on my weekly chart so it's kinda obvious which version I prefer. He has yet to follow up with a song this good though, with his second single just missing my top 40 and his latest 'Recovery' going nowhere near my chart.

Hurrah for Ben Pearce, Nicky Romero, Fatboy Slim, Tiësto, Showtek, and Manufactured Superstars.

Catching up! 'Black Skinhead' the obvious highlight for me so far. Only Kanye would dare risk opening an album campaign with that

Nice to see some Drake here too hope he has one other track slightly higher now. Also nice to see London Grammar (with a remix i've actually heard!) and that Carly Rae Jepsen tune is a major guilty pleasure

◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊

David Guetta has had a relatively quiet year in 2013 - having only released 2 singles, one of which did really well in the UK and one which flopped. Unfortunately it was 'Just One Last Time' that was the flop, with the guest vocals of Taped Rai who would go on to have a BJSC smash, it's not as generic as most of his other songs which is, of course, a good thing.

At #69 is the first of three entries from will.i.am, and despite the position suggesting otherwise, he is not sexy. And neither is Justin Bieber, who I would've never expected to get a hit single in my chart, but his vocals in the song aren't off-putting, which is high praise coming from me. Will's raps are the main highlight of the song however, along with a beat that wouldn't sound out of place on a club track.

Olly Murs with a surprise summer smash and his best single to date charts next. After 'Army Of Two' put me off the whole era, I was surprised to hear something this good when I first heard it on the chart show. The production sounds like something you'd expect from Naughty Boy, but the main highlight is of course his singing.

With her only entry of the year after having 3 last year, it's Rita Ora with her pop-dance single 'Radioactive'. There is another song of the same name yet to come in the chart.

Finishing the section off it's OneRepublic but not with the song you'd expect from them. I never liked 'Counting Stars' but 'If I Lose Myself' was a big club hit and it may even be getting a UK push soon. Alesso shows us once again why he's so successful with this remix that has his signature sound. Listen to some of his other songs then you'll hear what I mean.

Coincidentally, three entries from Avicii enter together. The first, 'X You', was a promo single, which was co-produced by some of his fans. For those who don't know the story, basically people were asked to make beats, baselines and melodies for a competition and the winners would have their part included in the song.

Another promo single up next, this one was 'Speed' which Avicii produced for Burn Energy Drink and the Lotus F1 Team. Originally an instrumental but Avicii later did a mash-up of this and 'Wake Me Up'.

The next of his three tracks is 'Dear Boy', an album track from True. It is the longest track on the album, clocking in at 8 minutes, but it's easily the best album track and I hope it gets the single treatment sometime next year.

A non-Avicii artist finally, Calvin Harris is at #62 with UK #1 single 'Under Control'. The song was produced with Alesso and it made for a great banger of a tune! I was surprised that he went on to a new single so quickly after finishing the 18 Months era but more Calvin is never a bad thing in my opinion.

Finishing the section off is Disclosure's 'You & Me'. The song brought garage back into the charts for a few weeks which is nice to hear. Eliza's vocals on this are surprisingly good too, however the Disclosure boys have two songs that are far better than this which will appear higher in the chart.

All this Avicii! :o SLAYING (hopefully 'Wake Me Up' is top 10 though!)

Bieber #69 :heehee:

Shocked even #thatPOWER charted for you actually but some form of Bieber here is fab. And it's higher than ANY Bieber track this year managed in mine.

You And Me really should be not as low as #61. At all.

All this Avicii! :o SLAYING (hopefully 'Wake Me Up' is top 10 though!)

And there are four more Avicii tracks yet to come! Although they'll be a lot higher, and considering WMU spent 8 weeks at #1 in my chart it would be surprising if it wasn't top 10.

Bieber #69 :heehee:

I thought someone would make that joke  He is not sexy in my opinion though.

You And Me really should be not as low as #61. At all.

It would be higher but there's been so many good songs released this year that not all of them can be top 40 :( Disclosure have 2 more songs yet to come though so stay tuned!

Some great tracks in today’s batches: David Guetta, OneRepublic/Alesso, Avicii (x3), Calvin Harris/Alesso, and Disclosure. ‘Speed’ and ‘Dear Boy’ are amazing!

Miguel enters at #60 with "Adorn", a song which I discovered early this year which then grew on me further due to its BJSC usage and UK release (this song should have peaked in the official UK top 40 singles chart :)) The song is a smooth RnB jam which we don't get in the charts a lot these days so this song is really refreshing to hear.

The next song comes from everyone's favourite rapping b!tch… oh wait, this isn't a Nicki Minaj song we're talking about. Anyway Ke$ha impresses us with a super-generic song, with the help of will.i.am's mumbling (such genius lyricism right here).

Continuing his record of appearing in all my year-end charts is DJ Fresh, who with Diplo creates a swagalicious trap song. And to add to the swag factor is female rapper Dominique Young Unique who's flow drops like an earthquake.

And the third song avec female rapper comes up next, and it's the first and only entry from Iggy Azalea who tells us her life story over a trap beat in "Work". It's always nice to have a female rapper being successful, however sadly her follow ups 'Bounce' and 'Change Your Life' aren't half as good as this.

Finishing the section off is BJSC smash 'Feel the Love' from Cahill. They are mostly known for doing remixes of pop songs but they made a great pop-dance tune themselves this year and I definitely felt the love.
