April 8, 201411 yr Author Speaking of French songs, this has a chance of being a hit: K5KAc5CoCuk If it was sung in English I could see this being big. In its current version, possibly top 75 if it gets pushed
April 8, 201411 yr Oh gosh we can't have a translation into English from that beauty. It's good enough to be a hit in its own right. Plus I imagine a translation would be quite clunky.
April 8, 201411 yr Yeah I could really see Indila getting a reasonably big hit even without a translation if they ever bothered to push it (which they won't). I can dream ~ I normally can't stand French language songs but 'Dernière Danse' is <3
April 9, 201411 yr Is it too late for Stromae's 'Papaoutai' to become a hit here, I definitely think the Angel Haze version stands a chance (if given a push)... That would be a dream come true! Such a tune!
April 9, 201411 yr Oh gosh we can't have a translation into English from that beauty. It's good enough to be a hit in its own right. Plus I imagine a translation would be quite clunky. Yeah I can't imagine an English version would have anything on the original, plus translations are never as good as the original because you just get so used to the original that it just sounds odd, even if I understand English more than French obviously. The lyrics are beautiful anyway, hopefully it can transcend the language barrier even if it was just a Moi Lolita style low top 10 hit!
April 9, 201411 yr It's a great song but there's nowhere that would support it in the UK. The foreign songs that have been playlisted by Radio 1/Capital have pretty much all been dance or uptempo club type songs with some sort of big novelty value, eye-catching video, dance routine, or an added in English rapper. I just can't imagine them supporting a foreign language pop song. The TV music channels might but I doubt it would be on heavy rotation and the very best it could hope for is low top 75 in its current form. Moi Lolita had major support from The Box, which was a big deal in 2002, it was literally on TV all the time. Is there a thread of all of the foreign language hits on BJ? Gasolina, Dragostea Din Tei, Alors On Danse and Dancing Lasha Tumbai, Gangnam Style and Schnappi are the main ones I can recall from the past few years and all sold on novelty value apart from maybe Alors On Danse which should have been so much bigger and would have been if it had been fully translated to English. I'm glad it wasn't, and that the French version was pushed but it does highlight how unlikely UK audiences are to buy normal/non-gimmicky foreign music which is sad.
November 14, 201410 yr Author let's see how we did Predict what songs will be big hits in the opening months of 2014. Here's my tips for success: DVBBS & Borgeous feat. Tinie Tempah "Tsunami (Jump)" Hardwell feat. Matthew Koma "Dare You" Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike feat. Katy B "Find Tomorrow (Ocarina)" Tiesto "Red Lights" What do you think will be big next year? Tsunami was a #1 but not a very big hit, Dare You was a one week wonder in the top 20, Find Tomorrow never got released and Red Lights was a moderate hit. I can think of a few more John Legend - All Of Me - Seems to be doing big things especially in Australia so can see that being big Great Big World/Christina Aguilera - Say Something - Becoming big in America so could break through Magic! - Rude - Shot up the Australian Itunes, could take off Envy - Am I Wrong? - Has already been massive in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark, was recently taken off itunes which suggests they will release it here. you win this thread Oh have AATW got 'Flute' off Spinnin' for the UK? Hopefully it does well but we all know how bad they can be at releasing a song. If only Spinnin' kept 'Tsunami' instead of giving it to MoS though. Silly Spinnin' records. :( well I was right about AATW messing the release of Flute up :magic:
November 14, 201410 yr Hozier's 'Take Me To Church' could be the new 'Let Her Go'. Could still happen!!! It is climbing again and could possibly reach a new peak this week. I d0oubt it'll ever go top 10 but it could be top 40 for quite some time yet. I hope not. If anything deserves to be the new Let Her Go, it's got to be Vance Joy 'Riptide'! This was closer to the truth but still not quite. Well with Jubel looking a certainty to be big, maybe this'll follow in its wake?:- /cFf85n-Im8Q > implying Jubel wasn't a ripoff of Changes and following in its wake (and failing spectacularly) I think, or at least hope, 'Beauty' by Tara Ella stands a chance - a belated hit, but a hit nonetheless. One day. 'Not Giving Up' will be released on 2 March with a new mix, maybe with a rent-a-rapper such as Pitbull or Flo again. It will go straight to #1 (as its album only) selling 119,000 copies in its first week. It will stay in the top ten for four weeks. Lol If they wanna push Oliver Heldens here I hope they go with 'Gecko' rather than this. I vote this as the most prophetic prediction as there was really no indication that 'Gecko' was going to be released, let alone a hit. Claps.
November 14, 201410 yr Author I vote this as the most prophetic prediction as there was really no indication that 'Gecko' was going to be released, let alone a hit. Claps. It seemed quite obvious (to me at least) that Gecko would be pushed and become a hit (whether it be in instrumental form or as a vocal mix), even when I entered it into BJSC oops (#cheapDanaelanda), I'm glad it did happen anyway as it's an amazing song :D
November 14, 201410 yr > implying Jubel wasn't a ripoff of Changes and following in its wake (and failing spectacularly) well how was i to know Changes would be released first at the time x
November 14, 201410 yr well how was i to know Changes would be released first at the time x Is this you admitting you're not ACTUALLY #psychic7? :o
November 14, 201410 yr bumpity bump. 53lkKpgmzKM calling a 3rd 'sax-dance' hit this year for this, alongside Jubel & Changes *.* (and apparently it's a former #1 in France, which is a good sign i guess) I'd say this is enough to retain #psychic7-ship. *.*
