Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Brazil probably needed to keep it at 0-0 for the first half at least to stand a chance, and far worse teams have kept a clean sheet and then scored one. Those ten minutes between the second and fifth goals will have been like an out of body experience.

Of course it is, but realistically they were never going to beat Germany if you looked at it logically. Take away the home advantage,. Luiz they got destroyed by a team that was so much better in ever area. They just missed a calming influence to get a grip of the game when Germany ran riot. But like I say, you take Neymar out of this current Brazil side and they're average. Luiz was so bad it's painful to watch.

Brazil had been riding their luck all tournament. A defeat was inevitable against Germany, but was obviously made worse with Neymar and Thiago Silva out

Surely Scolari won't survive this? One of the biggest issues with the current squad was his desire to pick his favourites rather than players in form

Wonder if they'll be able to pick themselves up for the 3rd place match on Saturday? Argentina losing tonight to set up Brazil vs. Argentina on Saturday and Germany vs. Netherlands would be nice

I don't think I'd be able to deal with the Louis Van Gaal love in if Netherlands did manage to win though

From Metro:

A Brazilian woman has amazingly won a sweepstake bet after successfully predicting that Germany would thrash Brazil 7-1 in their World Cup semi-final.

And as if not that’s incredible enough, the woman only came up with the idea of betting on that scoreline – because her sleep walking husband told to her to days previously.

The story was revealed by respected Brazilian news outlet Lance who published confirmation of the betting slip along with the bizarre conversation that took place prior to the bet.

Anna Guerra, a 44-year-old artist, confronted her sleep walking husband and asked him who would win out of Germany and Brazil.

She only won the equivalent of £55 though.

That period of 4 goals in 13 minutes or whatever it was, was so surreal - I thought I was watching an action replay at points.

Massive LOL at Alan Shearer who kept ADAMANTLY predicting Brazil to win (and of course Abdul Fareek).

Also, I love this fact:

Germany scored two more goals in this game, 7, than England did in their past two World Cups combined.

Not playing as openly as they did. Their only chance was to sit back and soak up pressure.

Did anyone notice the name of the programme on BBC2 before the highlights of last night's game? It was Seven Wonders Of Brazil

They did!

To be fair to him a lot of people must have thought Brazil would win, even without two key players. The bookies couldn't call it either as I saw the exact same odds for both sides yesterday afternoon.

A few big winners here as well

Four gamblers were counting their winnings on Wednesday after putting money on Germany to beat Brazil by an outlandish 7-1 scoreline in the World Cup semi-final.

Bookmaker Paddy Power had to pay out after offering odds of 500-1 for a result which was beyond the wildest dreams of most German fans. One gambler from the east of England won £2,500 after wagering just £5. William Hill said that none of its 120,000 customers who bet on the result had picked 7-1 as the final score.

One student in northern England, however, was rewarded after staking just 80p on Germany to take a 5-0 half-time lead. He won £240 at odds of 300-1. Both teams to score is a popular bet and Oscar’s late consolation goal for Brazil cost William Hill more than £1 million, a company spokesman said.

I am nervous for tonight to be honest

Me too (I'm hoping for a Dutch win, though I can't decide who I'd like to win a Netherlands/Germany final), but at the same time I think a semi-final is a great result for them so I won't be too gutted if the Netherlands go out (and you Dutch BuzzJackers shouldn't be either :P). Remember none of you thought you'd get out of the group!

Yeah but you always kinda hope for more

Germany vs. Netherlands and Argentina vs. Brazil would be a showdown of epic proportions. 2 massive rivalries in one worldcup

Remember none of you thought you'd get out of the group!

That's true! But even since we won the first game I had been hoping to repeat the success of 2010

And if we are against Germany in the final it'll be an amazing experience. Hopefully we can get revenge from '74.

For me the thing is that no matter who wins in a Netherlands/Germany final, I'll end up disappointed :( If Germany win I'll be sad that the Netherlands didn't get their first World Cup but if the Netherlands win, I'll be sad Germany's team will end up being completely forgotten outside of "oh yeah they were the ones that trashed Brazil and then lost to the Dutch". Then again there are Dutch BuzzJackers so I should side with them, but there's also Lena :kink: Dilemmas.

All I know is Argentina must die tonight.

I'm in quite the same position. If Netherlands lose again in the final I will feel so awful for them, especially them losing against Germany. Germany is the team I want to support because of my connections to the country, but that goes against every part of me that wants different teams winning this all the time.

Germany have what seems like an amazing team and a team that beat Brazil by that much should be winning no matter how lucky they got against a weak team.

It'll be incredibly disappointing if Argentina do win because the resulting matchups from a Netherlands win look incredibly memorable while otherwise it's just two sets of inter-continental matchups that aren't exactly the final showdown I'd be hoping for. Plus I think Germany might well trash Argentina pretty easily/boringly/Brazil-esquely whereas I'm not so sure about a Germany/Netherlands match.

I really hope Holland can win the world cup to make up for near misses in the past but it's unlikely to happen.

Predictions:

1.Germany

2.Argentina

3.Holland

4.Brazil

Hope I'm wrong though!
