Please, Germany vs Netherlands in the final now.

Why? Does your reason have anything to do with Eurovision?

One of many parts of the country I haven't visited!

Not surprising as it's the least interesting part of The Netherlands

(Unless you're there for work bussiness, as a lot is located here)

I'd be terrified of a Brazil v Argentina final. Don't think everyone would get out alive.

If Germany win then the consolation I suppose will be that possibility of an all-European final (massive achievement in South America) with the rivalry between them and the Dutch. I can't call it at the moment, I'm interested to see how Van Gaal will set up against Messi. If they play three at the back then in theory you could have one of them (Martins Indi?) stepping up but that's asking for trouble really.

No, he wants a majority white final, duh.

I never was a football fan and prefer rugby union.

Germany : My sister supported German team from Euro 1996, when they won.

Netherlands : Maybe because I like their music.

Sister liking one team and because you like another COUNTRY'S music.   If there were ever more valid reasons to like FOOTBALL TEAMS it's those two <3

I think regardless if Argentina get to the final, there will be trouble. I think there would be actual riots if Argentina won a World Cup in Brazil.

A great article about the intimidation tactics of Krul.

I've seen people claim he needed to be carded for it :drama:

Regardless of this 'tactical masterstroke from van Gaal' (which it really wasn't). Imo it was the substitution that really through the Costa Rica players off. I know it would have been in the back of my mind. Goalkeepers/players intimidating each other during a penalty is nothing new. Probably helps that the Dutch have the best set of penalty takers in the competition too.

Oh yeah it did, but I think him telling the players he knew which side they were shooting (and he actually did) + the nerves + the fact that he had just been brought in brought so many doubts to the Costa Rican players.

Does he really know? Is that why they changed him? Did they study our penalties?

They'll have massively studied penalties. You can increase your chances by doing preparation, like the height/technique the kicker users, or the goalkeepers favourite side to dive, but at the end of the day it comes down to kicking a ball. Nerves/pressure plays a big part. It's why the best penalty takers in the world have missed on the biggest occassions.

I think van Gaal made the substitution because the statistics show Krul to be a better penalty stopper. Simple as that. It was a good move by van Gaal, but some 'tactical masterstroke' is far from it. They looked labored and void against Costa Rica. I don't think they would have scored in open play if there was another 90 minutes. Takes big balls to make a substitution like that though, but we would have been slaughtered if Costa Rica went through.

Van Gaal admitted he brought Krul on because of his height and reach rather than anything else. But just bringing on a specific penalty keeper must have psyched the Costa Ricans out slightly.

There's no way on earth this can be happening.

Brazil x Argentina in the finale! :yahoo:

I wouldn't be so sure. Germany should easily beat Brazil, and Netherlands can give Argentina a game.

Just hope Brazil don't win it. Without a doubt, this team would be the worst ever winners. Hope they boot Scolari.

With home advantage it's not going to be EASY to beat Brazil, even without two top players.

Can't see the Dutch beating the argies.

I think Germany certainly has the tougher SF. On paper, and from what we've seen of the team, the Brazilians are a bit ordinary sans Neymar (well, they are ordinary with him tbh) but that home crowd advantage is going to be very tough to overcome.

No it's not, but their entire team is based around Neymar. With an attack of Fred and Jo, I think they would struggle to beat a lower level Premier League team, never mind one of the best teams in the world. Home advantage counts for a lot, but they almost bottled the penalties against Chile, and Colombia ran them ragged. Could see Germany beating them very comfortably.

Germany wont beat Brazil, the home support will give Brazil the edge. Argentina will definitely beat Holland so we'll get a Brazil vs Argentina final next Sunday which will be one of the most passionately fought matches of all time.
