December 13, 201312 yr Midweek Charts update: Robbie Swings ahead of One Direction Source: MW by Paul Williams Robbie Williams has moved narrowly ahead of One Direction in a close battle to top this weekend's UK artist albums chart. His Island album Swings Both Ways was by the end of Thursday around 1,200 sales ahead of the Syco boy band's Midnight Memories, which secured a second week at No 1 last Sunday and was leading during the early part of this week. According to Official Charts Company data, sales of Swing Both Ways are up 44% on the week with the album clearly benefitting from BBC One last Friday evening broadasting One Night At The Palladium, featuring Williams and a cast of guests performing at the historic London venue. The album debuted at No 1 last month before being replaced by Midnight Memories the following week. One Direction have now dropped to 2 in the latest Sales Flashes with Gary Barlow's Polydor set Since I Saw You Last holding at 3 but with sales up 31% on the week. Epic act Olly Murs' Right Place Right Time, which was re-issued a week ago in an extended version, holds at 4 as sales rise 83%, while two Michael Buble albums are now in the Top 10 following his performance on ITV's The X Factor last weekend. To Be Loved moves 19-5 with sales up 147% and fellow Reprise/Warner Bros release Christmas improves 10-6 with sales rising 45%. Parlophone's Lily Allen continues to lead midweek singles with Somewhere Only We Know with Positiva/PRMD's Avicii up 8-2 with Hey Brother on the back of a 41% sales rise. Meanwhile, Syco's Leona Lewis could be heading for her highest charting single since Happy reached No 2 in 2009 with One More Sleep rising 34-3. Sales of the single, which she performed on The X Factor last week, are up 286%. There are also big sales increases for Pharrell Williams' Happy on the Back Lot label (up 277%) and Warner Bros act Jason Derulo's Trumpets (up 65%) to move 30-6 and 12-7 respectively in the week to date. http://www.musicweek.com/news/read/midweek...irection/057067 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Friday Update Top 40 Only Singles 1 Lily Allen - Somewhere Only We Know 2 Avicii - Hey Brother 3 Leona Lewis - One More Sleep 4 Ellie Goulding - How Long Will I Love You 5 Bastille - Of The Night 6-10 6 Pharrell - Happy 7 Jason Derulo - Trumpets 11-20 12 Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You 15 The Pogues feat. December 13, 201312 yr I hope Lily holds on to #1, neither Avicii nor Leona deserve it, to be honest. I prefer Lily's song among these 3 too. "Hey brother" is a bit of an abomination certainly... "One more sleep" has grown on me (especially after the cute video) and I wouldn't mind it getting a week at no1. (perhaps next one?) It has to be the only original xmas song I can stand that has been released during the last decade or so. Other than that, my xmas playlist is usually a mix of a few classic xmas songs with Carey, Buble and Sinatra and lasts for a single week...

It has no chance next week - the X Factor Winner is released on Sunday.
December 13, 201312 yr App what would that make their sales this week then? There wasn't any information how many copies Gary and Robbie sold last week, so i can't answer on your question. I think that last friday one direction could have around 35 k advantage over robbie, which means that this week he probably sold around 76k and 1D 75
December 13, 201312 yr Is it still possible that Avicii will be #1? Lily has faded quite a bit. Not really  (Lily is already gaining on Avicii and she has physicals on her side) Edited December 13, 201312 yr by 7heDreamer
December 13, 201312 yr Is it still possible that Avicii will be #1? Lily has faded quite a bit. Alas with sales at such low ebb this week, Lily's 6k lead (from Wednesday's Update) is probably insurmountable. :(
December 13, 201312 yr Leona nearly overtaken Avicii on iTunes and said before was ahead on other download sites? Lily still ahead in mids and has physicals. Could be a real 3 horse race this week (though fairly mediocre sales for top spot whoever I think)
December 13, 201312 yr Those physical sales must be really strong for Lily. She hasn't been number 1 on iTunes since Tuesday! She was quite far ahead on iTunes up to that point though. She built up a lead during the part of the week with the highest sales, so although Avicii is now beating her on iTunes, it's during lower sales days so harder for him to make much of an impact on that lead Lily initially built up. (That said, I think Avicii will be #1 now). Lily had sold fewer than 1k physicals up to Wednesday.
December 13, 201312 yr Not really  (Lily is already gaining on Avicii and she has physicals on her side) (on the last update she decreased again quite a bit)
December 13, 201312 yr What position is Gary Barlow in todays update? Leona out of the top 10 albums is unfortunate but at least the single is top 3. Edited December 13, 201312 yr by pippa
December 13, 201312 yr Woo for Robbie overtaking 1D in the albums! Though 1D will undoubtedly return and get the Christmas #1 next week since they're being whored out again by XF for the final <_< Not sure how high 'BEYONCÉ' is likely to go this week, it's download only right? Unless it's absolutely DOMINATING on digital sales I'd be quite surprised if she makes the top 10 but she'll likely be up there next week. At least that should make it a whole one new entry in the top 40 this week.
December 13, 201312 yr Is Wham in today's update? I don't mean to be rude but the update is literally at the top of this very page.
December 13, 201312 yr I know this is a long shot, but I don't suppose anyone's seen any top 200 midweeks and knows whether Leona's cover of 'Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)' is in the chart?

December 13, 201312 yr I'm really curious if Beyonce can get the top 10, After get 80k in just 3 hours everything is possible
December 13, 201312 yr Is it possible to know where Susan Boyle and Richard & Adam are in Friday's album chart update? Thanks!
