edit: Next To Me should be BOTTOM. Seriously awful and overplayed, I'm so proud of myself right now. :D

The live version is GORGEOUS though. :(

Read All About It, Pt. III

The song that started her world domination; her omnipresence; her continual disgusting stick on Buzzjack. Emeli performed 'Read All About It, Pt. III' at the London 2012 Olympics and it was such a beautiful performance. She was also there to sing a beautiful rendition of 'Abide With Me' which she then went on to perform on her November 2012 tour dates. I really don't know why this gets as much hate as it does. She's not performed it live that many times at all, apart from on her tour which I doubt many people have seen / heard / are interested in outside of the fan-base. The fact it's used an extreme amount on talent shows (see Britain's Got Talent and The X Factor) could be the reason why though. An absolutely beautiful rendition. Not as good as the original with Professor Green, but probably the song she will be remembered for in years to come. The live performances of this song are SO much better than the studio version, and when she sings it and merges both the original and Pt. III together it is STUNNING. The Royal Albert Hall performance with Professor Green is just... mindblowingly fantastic. And the linked-below performance in Aberdeen is PERFECT.

RAAI is stunning and I will not hear otherwise

Very surprised this has managed to rank as high as it has. This is an album track from Emeli's second album Naughty Boy's début album, 'Hotel Cabana'. 'Lifted' may be better by just a very small margin, but this is so fantastic! Fell in love with this when she performed it on the 'Our Version of Events' tour, and it's something the fans have wanted to hear for a while (alongside a studio version of 'Enough' which she performed prior to this on the night(s)). The metaphorical basis of the song works so perfectly and the lyrics are stunning, definitely one of her most beautiful crafts and I hope we get more songs like this from her in the future be it if she features on Naughty Boy's second album or puts some like this on her own second album.

Just missing out on the top 10 is Emeli's feature on Kendrick Lamar's 'Bitch, Don't Kill My Vibe'. Obviously this has only reached #11 because it's Kendrick Lamar. It's a decent remix, and it sounds alright but it's by no means her best feature. And unfortunately for many, it's been removed from almost all sites on the internet so is nowhere to be seen / heard or illegally downloaded. Hopefully it comes to light some time in the future. There are still a couple of videos on YouTube, however.

Heading straight into the top 10 now and kicking us off is the absolutely fantastic 'Where I Sleep'. I love this song for many different reasons, and I love how Emeli explained where it derived from in her track-by-track breakdown of the album. It's about being in a relationship and knowing that you are happy and knowing that this is us, this is love and this is where I sleep. I also found it interesting when she mentioned that she'll pick up on things that her friends or people she meets say and she'll turn it into a song. So creative. <3 Her vocals are fantastic in this song and the transition from 'Tiger' to this on her tour was stunning.

Another stunning song from the album and one that is, like 'Lifetime' and 'Hope', a bit overlooked. It's so beautiful in the sense that it speaks metaphorically once again (prior to 'Pluto') about a relationship, but it also speaks about life in general. Being with the right people and knowing you are with them. The live version of this song where she sits at her piano is stunning. I also loved how she spoke about the young girl telling her that she was her river, that was a touching moment. Definitely one of my favourites from the album and one that I loved for a long time when I first heard it.

With another collaboration from both Naughty Boy and Emeli still to come, 'Wonder' unfortunately drops out now. This was the lead single from 'Hotel Cabana' and is absolutely fantastic. What I love about this song the most is the video. It's so different and Emeli looks fantastic in it, as always! The fact that both potential meanings of the song are included in the video is great - we have the people filled with wonder celebrating on a desolate island and Emeli in a boat just looking fabulous and being wonderful, while at the end of the video we have a little hint of what is to come from 'Hotel Cabana' when a lone door stands, we are filled with wonder as to what may be behind it? The song is just so fun, although the only disadvantage is that Emeli seems to struggle singing it live (maybe strain after singing so many powers before it, but still decent!)

Heading up to bed immediately after the other collaboration of Naughty Boy and Emeli's is 'Lifted' - the third single to be taken from Naughty Boy's début album 'Hotel Cabana'. This is the song of the year for me, one that really defined the summer (sorry J-Lo x) and most of the year. Tonnes of plays and barrels of looning! The video for this, much like some of the other songs here, is what makes this fantastic! Of course, we have Emeli's pitch-perfect vocals and the general fabulousness of the song, but the video continuing on from 'Wonder' and 'La La La' shows the journey of two people heading to Hotel Cabana where they will find out everything is not as it seems. I love that we get to see what is actually inside the hotel with this video, and how deranged it is. A very clever masterpiece from Naughty Boy (and of course, the photograph of Emeli in the video <3).

Breaking the Law (Alternate Version)

Although both versions are fantastic, this is the far superior version - the version that some have claimed "saved" the song. Admittedly, the original version is a bit basic and doesn't really go anywhere, but this version takes it to new heights and the added backing track as well as a little switch-up in the song's style is fantastic! Definitely what it needs and I'm glad this is the version that she performed on her 'Our Version of Events' tour, because it appeared to be a fan favourite!

Can't believe the pretty horrific 'Lifted' is above the wonderful feel-good anthem 'Wonder'! That's one of the best things she has done for me these days.
Heaven MUST win. Disappointed Next To Me finished so low aswell actually (can't be too moany as I didn't vote but I only know like 7/8 songs so didn't seem fair) - despite it's overplay, I do still like it unlike many of her others.

Daddy

Average ... 8.143

Kicking off the top 5 is the second single from 'Our Version of Events', 'Daddy'. Somebody was very silly giving it a 2 because obviously it's worth so much more than that! This is definitely among my favourite Emeli songs (possibly scrapes my top 5, I think). The live performances, like some of her other songs, of this is a great deal better than the studio version, and she puts everything into it (particularly at the Royal Albert Hall). It's normally the show opener or show closer, and it's great that she puts a different spin on it! It's a shame this flopped officially, and I don't really get the comparisons people draw saying it's a 'cheap Heaven' or whatever. No. The song also features Naughty Boy who worked closely with Emeli producing the album! So that leaves four songs in the running... What are they though?

In at #4 and fairly outdoing 'Pt. III' is the original version of 'Read All About It' - Professor Green featuring Emeli. Do we think Emeli would have been as big as she is now had she not featured on this song? It's definitely a highlight of her career, and where her success at the Olympic Games, further performances, etc has stemmed from. Had there not been this there would not have been 'Pt. III'. I really can't wait for the next collaboration from this pair because both of them work fantastically together. Emeli's voice is fabulous in this and the video is wonderful! So meaningful and deep. People say that Emeli took the emotion out of the song when she adapted it and made it into her own for the third part, but the point is that it's not Professor Green's song, it doesn't translate the same meaning that he intended for the first part - it's her... version of events.

Beneath Your Beautiful

Average ... 8.633

Emeli's collaboration with Labrinth, 'Beneath Your Beautiful', sits comfortably in the top 3 just behind two other songs (but what are they and what order will they be in?). This song is so beautiful and definitely one of her best collaborations (I'd probably put it in the top 3 that she has featured on). The lyrics are so beautiful and both Labrinth and Emeli's voices compliment one another's very well! I hope this isn't the only collaboration we'll get from the pair of them but hopefully if they do do something else together it's not the same as this and does something the complete opposite and ground-breaking! Not objecting to this being in the top 3 at all, although I would have had 'Daddy' here in its place!
