Hi y'all!

Just a quick wee end of year round up for you guys to let you know what's going to be happening over the next few months and have a wee look back over the past year. 2013 has been fairly unstable to say the least. As you may have noticed, Tom is no longer listed as a BJSC Mod :( Sad times. I'd like to thank him for the hard work he has put in over the years in making this contest great. We've come a long way since Tom first joined the team and we've achieved a fair few great things in that time.

So this year saw us under go some pretty serious mod changes, the most disruptive changes since Tyron upped and left halfway through TBO III, and the 'Temporary Mod' idea. I think the idea was a rip roaring success personally and I couldn't be more glad we went ahead with it. The support we received from Dandy and Matt for this programme was most appreciated. The downside to all this turmoil and temp programme was that it left myself and Cal manning the ship when Tom took an unexpected step back, to never return. Annoyingly this has allowed the timetable on some projects to slip but things had to be re-prioritised. With Yu and Jack joining our team we found that there was a little chaos in mashing together everyone's working styles and allowing the guys to get used to the role. Internally we took the decision to put a lot of things on hold until TBO so we could hit reset.

That is what we are in the process of doing currently. We've worked hard to minimise the chances of last minute veto's with a new procedure and are now turning our attention to our resources. Many pinned threads will disappear shortly as we consolidate them into our 'Central Resource Centre'. As part of this process we are reviewing the content of the pinned topics and making alterations as necessary. So over this festive break we will be making changes to the rules, including firming up policy on areas we have been accused of being inconsistent. The changes to the Anti-Alias policy announced earlier this year will take full effect from the launch of the CRC.

The biggest part of our reset will be that of the Veto Framework. We will be undertaking a full review of the policy including points per level, the number of levels and the veto threshold. There are some songs we feel haven't been covered by the Framework that should have been and we'll be looking closely at that.

Looking forwards, BJSC LXI will begin on January 5th 2014 (please and thank you Pavel) as our provisional 2014 schedule takes form. As it stands we will have ten contests, BJFEST III, TBO VII, Awards 2014 and a two week summer break.

In addition to that, the long awaited spin-off revamp will finally be arriving. Spin-offs were pushed to a back burner earlier this year as other things took priority. I am pleased to confirm that Spin-Offs will return this month! Ashton will kick start us off with a themed edition, as we don't have an official launch date other than sometime after Sunday and it'd be unfair to push hosting onto someone at such short notice. Spin-offs will alternate between a Themed spin-off and Re:LOADED with a month off for both BJFEST and TBO. The schedule is very flexible as we will try and work out how best to run the them along side the main contest. Please do keep volunteering theme ideas for a spin-off, and your nation as a Re:LOADED host, in our Suggestions Box!

I for one am looking forward to another year of BJSC, I can't believe we're now 6 years into this!

Now that I've said way more than I planned too, we'd like to hear from you guys. You can say as many nice things about us as you'd like, or if your Umi you can continue to proclaim how useless I am as a BJSC mod. They choice is yours!

What I am hoping to get out of this is how you thought 2013 in BJSC went and any suggestions you might have for rule changes and the Veto Framework. Have at it and please don't be too cruel! :P (It should need saying but please don't make this personal. This isn't about how late Yu is with the stats update, or how much you'd love me to quit (I am not going anywhere so I suggest you give up on that particular dream) but more about policy and gently reminding us of areas that we've been a bit grey on)

I'll get my sickly sweet post out of the way and say THANK YOU for all of this.

I joined on a whim in January and it has since become the most essential part of the site for me. So many great discoveries + it's been brilliant to mix with posters that i never go to before.

Bring on '14 *.*

or if your Umi you can continue to proclaim how useless I am as a BJSC mod. They choice is yours!

you're***

Yu does need to hurry up with that stats update tho ~

Aside from that, the mods have done a great job this year considering the minor issue of 2 of them vanishing off the face of the Earth. Looking forward to spinoffs finally getting started again.

Is Reloaded going to be picked up where it left off (i.e. starting with II)?

You are not a bad BJSC mod behind the scenes, you are just terrible with everything that isn't behind the scenes.

Yep, starting next month! (I hardly recall the first one happening oops, perhaps I need to research more of the BJSC times before I became a mod)

Will we be getting awards this year?

Yes to this as well! (with some slight adjustments)

That's why I was asking. The first one was kind of half-arsed so I wasn't sure if it was still being counted as the official launch. Personally I would like to see Reloaded I re-run as I didn't take part in it the first time :kink:

Do those adjustments include the host? :D
thanks for all the work you guys have put in over the year, it's easily the big reason to be on buzzjack these days and the discoveries are not to be missed. bring on 2014!

Re:LOADED I was not half arsed thank you very much!

It was superbly hosted, with a minor delay between the voting and the results.

Re:LOADED will start with the Second contest seeing as we've already redone the first one, handed FSR Ashvia a historic 1-2 and I ain't risking that being erased

I'll admit that 2013 was HARD. Juggling 4th year and taking on the extra workload after both Ghosty and Tom had to take a step back was indeed an experience. But we're looking forward to 2014, especially with Jahq and Yu being on the team and the changes we're hoping to introduce. The mod trials (and the prior mod applications) showed us that all y'all are crazy lovely and wanting to get involved, so we hope you'll enjoy the year and take part in the spinoffs and events we have planned. The awards are coming back after a sharp decline in interest this year. The changes to the awards may seem small but we're hoping they make the process easier and less of a chore. We shall be creating HYPE for those soon so y'all better get your asses down to the polling stations and vote once the nominees are chosen by your fines selves. :o

I wasn't expecting much when I joined this contest this year, as I was competing in the DigitalSpy one and kept DNQ-ing and had a qualification rate of 9% or seomthing like that. But I'm doing surprisingly well

I'd like to thank all the mods for keeping this contest rolling and of course all the posters who put up with my annoying behaviour in the first few contest (I'm still annoying but a lot less :P)

I've enjoyed discovering some true gems in here and hopefully this'll continue in 2014!

I've already found my 2014 opening smash, cause that Yehesi smash still needs to happen
