Seen quite a lot of shit this year. That's what happens when you let your friends pick the films during group cinema trips. Going to be more forceful in picking in 2014 especially with 12 Years A Slave, American Hustle, Dallas Buyers Club, The Wolf of Wall Street and Inside Llewyn Davis all out in the first two months :kink:

Poor:

The Heat

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU????? The Heat is all kinds of amazing.

Pleased to see you liked to of my favourite movies of last year ('Silver Linings' and 'Perks of Being...') both flawless to me <3

I didn't get Silver Linings Playbook at all. :( I love Jennifer Lawrence and she was the saving grace for me but I just found it a bit bleh, a lot of shouting to it. It's what's putting me off about 'American Hustle', it looks decent and of course it has Jennifer but it also has Bradley Cooper again and the same director iirc so I'm not too sure..

'The Impossible' is the movie I struggle to rate/rank the most this year. I think all of the blood/distressing scenes (ie. the majority of the movie) made me "underrate" it a bit at the time but upon reflection I'd push it up a score. It's a struggle to say I "enjoyed" it because of the subject matter but I'm very glad to have seen it.

I completely get what you mean re 'The Impossible'! A couple of films have done that for me this year (I've liked them a lot, but can't say I "enjoyed them" due to how gritty they were/the subject of the film). 'The Prisoners' is the main big one for me but also 'Disconnect'.
My complete ranking of all new films I've seen this year will come tomorrow!
Average:

Beasts Of The Southern Wild

1 - 11 are all absoloutely brilliant.

10 - 32 are all great.

33 - 55 were all solid films that could have been better, but I'd have no issues watching again.

56 - 78 were average, forgettable and/or dissappointing.

79 - 86 were a drag.

87 - 94 were terrible.

95 is, more than likely, the worst film I've ver seen.

In no particular order

The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug - 8 Better than the 1st but still overlong and full of largely unlikeable characters - Smaug was cool though

Gravity - 9 Great though Bullock is the film is only let down by being a tad cheesy

Dark Skies - 6 Enjoyed it but pretty forgettable

The Conjuring - 7 Solid and a great start but became predictable and overly familiar

World War Z - In comparison to the book 3 When ignoring the book surprisingly ok 7

Star Trek Into Darkness - Fun filled but it ain't Star Trek 7

World's End - Funny (which is rare) but weaker than the previous two - 7

The Lone Ranger - Average 5

Elysium - Disappointing after District 9 and so much clumsier 7

Monsters University - Amusing but weaker than the first film - 7

Pacific Rim - Monsters vs Robots. Looked great, was fun and made me feel like a 9 year old again. Unfortunately it was clearly aimed at 9 year olds and could've been so much more. Still, it wipes the floor with the Transformers films - 7

After Earth - Utterly ghastly 3

Oblivion - OK but very ordinary 5

Rush - Film of the year for me. Perfect feel for the era and wonderfully performed 10

Iron Man 3 - Probably time to leave it there. OK 6

Mama - Better than expected but nothing to get excited about 6

Ender's Game - Surprisingly adult for a teen movie and rather well acted mostly. More than I expected 7

Still a bunch I'd like to see but nothing I'm excited about. Dull year

1. The Hobbit - Desolation Of Smaug

2. The Hunger Games - Catching Fire

3. Star Trek - Into Darkness

I believe those are the only films from 2013 I've watched this year - all sequels to franchises I'm very invested in. Hardly worth doing a ranking in that case (really got to watch more films) but that's easily the order in which I enjoyed them, Into Darkness, while pretty good, couldn't really measure up to the duo of Hunger Games and The Hobbit.
