I thought after Demot said Sam Bailey had over 1 million votes, I assumed her single would do 300/400k.

Hmmmm, Most of the other X-Factor winners have come straight in at #1, she's climbing :(

I'm pretty sure the single hit iTunes much faster than usual this year. Maybe it's the case that she had less of a preorder boost straight away if that makes sense. I guess we'll be able to judge in 24 hours when we see what kind of a lead she builds up.
How long did it take for James Arthur to reach no.1?

James Arthur's pre-order pretty much went to No1 instantaneously after the show. :o

Either iTunes is just being slow to update tonight, or this is shaping up to be the slowest/lowest selling X Factor winners single ever.

It's probably wishful thinking, but how much of Sam’s voting demographic is actually likely to be interested in buying a cover of a Demi Lovato song?

This is the same show that states "Roar" reached no.1 in 72 countries, did it really?

By #1 they mean #1 on iTunes

The show only finished 2 hours ago! Give her a chance

Only #2 two and a half hours after she won, god what a flop.... Totally making Steve Brookstein look like Michael Jackon.

It probably will sell less than the last few winner's singles, but I'd say at least 250-300k first week surely?

Don't forget she has her CD single released tomorrow, speaking of which how do you think The Big Reunion will do on CD Sales?

Come on Sam Bailey :(

I hope it was iTunes just being slow it doesn't deserve to be one of the lowest selling singles, she's too good!

...which is not exactly brilliant for a winner's single. Though I think it might be doing better than 'Cannonball'.

After James Arthur went to #1 practically as soon as he went on sale Sam is doing quite poorly to have taken this long to get to #1 especially when sales are so low. Though I suppose her demographic may be more the CD buying type.

I thought the CD physical is usually released on a Wedsnesday

As far as I know, every winner has entered straight in at number 1 almost instantly after it was released (or at least took no more than an hour I'm sure) so two hours is quite a long time in comparison (not that she won't get it soon)

Oh is it?, did not know that if that is true.

Well my Pre-Order came available at Midnight!

So hopefully, if this was the same for everyone else it will show a massive lead when it updates...

It's definitely released on Wednesday my mum ordered the Physical on Amazon with the release date 18th December (Wednesday).

But we haven't had a Christmas classic song since Mariah and that never made #1. The Christmas #1 this last 20 years has always been about novelty (see Blobby and Bob the builder) or a dominant act like the Spice girls.

If it wasn't for X factor 1D would probably being doing a Spice Girls and releasing a big ballad each Xmas and being #1 or some novelty record we all cringe at by mid January.

Not necessarily it just depends on the year in 2003 we had a record that just took on a life if it's own Mad World by Gary Jules so anything can happen but XF makes it much less likely. And the point about a dominant act - I would much rather Story of my Life bein no1 with big sales being Xmas no1 than a XF cover!

Obv Sam Bailey will be no1 but I thought since sales are so low she would have debuted at no1 for some reason!

It could also get a second week at #1 if her sales are high, usually they hold up quite well, if she drops by 60% in her second week, which means Pitbull needs quite a hefty sum to pull it off, it really depends how much she sells at the end of the week. Which means Pitbull will have competition the week after with Hardwell in the new year.

Pitbull isn't released until the 30th, and Hardwell isn't released until the 13th January

Why on earth would you pre-order it, when you don't know either what the song will be, or even who will be singing it?
