So glad she left Syco after reading her Open Letter, I really hope Island get her singles right with this 5th album, And the album does really well. She deserves all the success.

Well, a fan just highlighted this but could "Trouble" be a metaphor for her relationship with Syco? That would be interesting and make quite a lot of sense.

I'm shocked that Syco threatened to report that they dropped Leona if she decided to leave their label. What scum.

 

Also interesting that she's considered leaving Syco multiple times in the past and finally took the leap when they wanted her to record an album that isn't true to her. I'd like more details on what the album would've been like.

 

I don't think she meant threatenddd as in they threatened her, more like she was scared that it would be reported that she had been dropped.

I admire Leona for being strong and walking away from something that was clearly not working.

New here from the LLAT on DS, where i am imtrevertal_bob, also LeonaVerse on Twitter and if you haven't been able to tell a massice Leona fan that wants to keep as many forums active as possible- so glad i have found this one! I would recommend joining digital spy if you haven't because that is where the information is usually posted first.

Ok, let me offer my two cents on what has been discussed thus far in the forum.

I think we will get a much more organised approach to release, perhaps a staggered release- album art, single, announcements, radio shows- you know the usgh, but Leona has never had a team that doesn't just vomit it all out at once hoping it charts well- island will hopefully be strategic.

Leona has done a lot of (what they call it in publications) background/ subconscious promotion of her brand and music by reaching large audiences and reminding them off her existence before she starts doing the fully fledged promo tours.

The music direction she will head in will be Echo/ Spirit style, i don't think she will risk anything and she will probably resort to her more successful brand, also pop/ R&B is where her writing talents are most evident.

Early november first single, January second single, third single and album in march promo of both coinciding. My reasons are, they will want music out there (the first single is a set-the-scener), second will receive the most promotion and will be the first U.S single and the rest is self-explanatory.

I am so proud of Leona and her bravery in writing the letter, and i guess we sometimes forget that she is a person who has to feel everything thrown at her. I have grown to love her further and the fact she can verbalize all this shows me she is a true role model. *cough**cough*

That open letter is more revealing than I expected for some reason! Absolute respect for her though for going through with it and actually quitting despite what Syco were trying to do.

 

Anyone know if she's still on good terms with Simon? Would love an XF performance again this year, but after reading that, I'm not so sure it'll happen! :o

She's still on good terms with him. He's praised her a bit during the X-factor promo build up to the start of the series and tweeted to her about her leaving and wished her the best of luck. I'm sure Simon would be happy to have her back on the show at some point.

Really excited to hear the songs Leona and Diane have made.

 

Also, Simon wouldn't snub Leona for an X Factor performance. She was his first big success from X Factor and contributed to the show's popularity and success in the following years after her victory.

I am so so excited for this album, possibly the most excited I've been for a Leona album since Echo (which is still an 11/10 album for me) :wub:

 

OLCHLT is one of my favourite songs this year and Big Girls Don't Cry & If I Were A Boy are both in my top 15 favourite songs ever :wub:

That writer also wrote Who You Are, Skyscraper :wub:

She worked with him earlier in the year too. She worked with him for Echo too IIRC, but his stuff didn't make it. Excited!

I think it's unlikely we'll get anything this year from Leona, although I do want her to possibly promote Christmas With Love. Would love for OMS to be in the charts aain this christmas. I think may people started to fall i love with it near the end of Christmas. I can see it being played on music channels during the run up to christmas especially the christmas music video channel that they have december.
