When I was reading that, I was like "YES!" until I saw the "2 or 3 years" part. I honestly don't think Leona's label will give her that long. I think they will push her to get a single ready for summer and the album ready for a Septemberish release. It would be bonkers to leave it so long, especially with the recent success of OMS/CWL.

 

Edit: Leona also has Holiday! coming out this summer, so that will generate buzz around her a bit. They should capatilise on all this renewed interest. I will be really annoyed if they don't. :(

I would quite like Leona to follow Calvin Harris' example with his last album campaign. Space the release out bringing a new single out every 3/4 months to keep people interested and then release the album after about 3/4 singles in. I think what Leona needs right now is another hit single. Hopefully One More Sleep and Christmas, With Love will re-emerge over the next few years but she needs some regular songs to keep her relevant. It also gives her time to keep working on her album. Her label need to stop sitting on their 'hit singles'. There was a lot of buzz around Trouble shortly after Collide, yet they sat on it for over a year. By then Emeli had released her album and to many it appeared as a wannabe Emeli track. The fact they had Leona perform Glassheart and we knew it was always going to be on the album suggests it was intended as a single. If they released them over 2012 to keep some momentum, she might have maintained support ready for the proper album release.

 

Everyone might know The Pogues, Slade and Wizzard but the general public don't really know or care about their other material. Even Mariah struggles to sell her singles atm, despite AIWFCIY entering the top 20 here every year (to be fair to her, she has already had plenty of hits in her back catalogue). I know she already has other 'hits' but only 3/4 people immediately think of so if she is to continue being seeing as a current artist she needs a current single.
