40. Various Artists - Pitch Perfect OST [7-7-9-13] - 4 Weeks

Girls Aloud's greatest hits set makes a pretty lackluster EOY appearance. I don't know why, either as I love their singles but I think it might have been too soon for a new greatest hits from them. Ah well. Skylar Grey's long awaited debut album finally dropped, and it makes a pretty respectable #31 showing in my year end chart. The Pitch Perfect soundtrack and X Factor: Greatest Hits sets, also appear. Jay-Z returns with his new album, which made the top 5 in my weekly chart. Icona Pop's debut effort also turns up and lands at #36 in the year end chart. A bit of K-pop never hurts anybody and Rania's album/EP thing is well worth starting out with!

Almost expecting an entire top 20 of Justin/Britney here (not that I'd complain at that of course).

A fair bit I'm liking already. Nice to see Kanye/Jay Z make it in the albums and 'Timber' in the singles :D

Starting to get to the big stayers now! All in double figures of their chart longevity! A couple of former number 1's in the name of Iggy Azeala x1, Nicole Scherzinger x1 and 2 K-pop songs in the name of Girls' Generation and Tiny-G! GG lose out to Tiny-G for me though! Definitely prefer TG's song over the still rather amazing, if erratic, 'I Got A Boy'! In GG's song one of the girls sings "here comes trouble", well, here comes 'Trouble', by new girl group Neon Jungle, just missing out on a top 40 EOY placing! Iggy loses her other two chart placings in this section too, both higher than her number 1 hit though! Mikky Ekko, who should have blown up properly in 2013, is at number 58, just behind Lady GaGa! One of the breakout stars of 2013 features here, Ariana Grande enters with the amazing, 'The Way'! Queen Kelly who has another 2 songs to come, enters at number 51 with her first ever Country single, 'Tie It Up'!

Frankmusik, and Basshunter are two of the surprise returns I really weren't expecting to appreciate as much as I used to, but they pulled out some proper gems this time around! Both albums were impressive. Two Ojnojian entrants appear at 22 and 23, again with stunning albums themselves. Rudimental's debut features here along with a Christmas album by Leona and will.i.am's debut effort! Jason Derulo manages to become a little more relevant again with his very good 3rd album, 'Tattoos' and Lady GaGa somewhat disappoints me with her latest release. Bastille have a pretty decent showing too!

Into the top 40 we go and just missing out on a top 20 positioning is my favourite Ke$ha song, to date. 'C'mon' is full of pop hooks, catchy melodies and sing-a-long verses and bridges. The video is what S Club 7's 'Reach' would look like, if you was to take acid! It's brilliant. To see this flop as disastrously as it did, it's baffling and not fair! Jason Derulo's come back single 'The Other Side' went on to be a big number 1 in my chart, rightfully so too. More poppy than his usual stuff, but I don't care when it's this good! Justin Timberlake's first 2 of six entries in this section, the wonderfully retro 'Take Back the Night' and the awesome 'TKO'! 2 Eurovision entries one from Margaret Berger and the other from former faves, Cascada who returned to form this year with 'Glorious' <3 Kelly Clarkson's flop 'People Like Us', makes a top 25 YE position! The influence for Katy Perry's 'Roar' - Sara Bareilles' 'Brave' - makes an appearance at a rather brilliant number 26. Two dance anthems in my chart, one by none other than Avicii and the other by Alex Gaudino, featuring Queen of the flops Nicole Scherzinger.

Olly Murs takes his title track and finishes at a respectable number 31! Katy Perry's surprise flop hit 'Unconditionally' makes a pretty great showing at number 32. Radio staples 'Just Give Me A Reason', 'Blurred Lines' & 'I Love It' all feature in this section as well as The Saturdays (with their highest EOY chart placing this year - with the brilliant 'Disco Love'), The Killers (also with their highest EOY placing this year with the anthemic 'Shot At the Night'), Samantha Jade (with the ultimate talent winners coronation song, 'What You've Done to Me') and of course the anticipated follow up to their 2010 SMASH HIT 'Love the Way You Lie', 'The Monster' by Eminem and Rihanna also makes a showing!

023. Justin Timberlake - Take Back the Night [2-6-4-5-11-18-16-17-22-28-24-26-31-39] - 14 Weeks

16: MACKLEMORE & RYAN LEWIS | 'The Heist'

CHART RUN: [2-2-3-1-2-4-6-9-10-10] - 10 Weeks

It's been a big year for rap duo, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. They made their massive breakthrough into the main stream. They were practically unstoppable and with this album, it was not hard to see why. Full of infectious raps and catchy hooks, this album was a big surprise and revelation to me!

---

17: BO BRUCE | 'Before I Sleep'

CHART RUN: [6-6-7-2-2-5-7-7-8-10-10] - 11 Weeks

In 2012, The Voice contestant Bo Bruce, came 2nd to Leanne Mitchell. Who? Exactly. Although not a big name herself, Bo stormed into the top 10 with the release of her album 'Before I Sleep' to become the first (and currently only!) 'The Voice' alumni to break into the top 10 officially in the albums chart. Such a solid debut effort and a deserved top 10 peak for this album!

---

18: LES MISÉRABLES CAST | 'Les Misérables Movie OST'

CHART RUN: [5-3-7-12-13-14-14-13-13-8-9] - 11 Weeks

One of the biggest surprises of 2013 for me, was actually taking to and LIKING the 'Les Misérables' film and soundtrack as much as I actually do! It's a phenomenal film, which I can only hope to go see and witness live one day (more *snigger*). Such a fantastic, and beautifully striking album and collection of songs!

---

19: SARA BAREILLES | 'The Blessed Unrest'

CHART RUN: [1-1-1-2-3-4] - 6 Weeks

Another surpriser of the year and this time it's one hit/one album wonder (both in the UK charts (still) and my very own charts (not so much now)) Sara Bareilles. Her breakthrough album ('Little Voice') was a big success, however I never got round to giving her follow up a listen. Thanks to her comeback single, 'Brave', I had to listen to this new album and I'm glad I did. Such a wonderful piece of work. In particular the stunning, 'Satellite Call'!

---

20: ZEDD | 'Clarity'

CHART RUN: [3-4-4-6-3-5-7-8-9-9] - 10 Weeks

I guess this means Zedd >> Avicii for me... Zedd's album is definitely my favourite of the two (I don't hate Avicii's album FYI), but Avicii definitely wins on the "instant smash hits" front. But as an album, 'Clarity' is better for me. It just feels more whole and complete for me. Some truly great songs on there and I do hope he manages to get another hit as big as 'Clarity', again.

#16: JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE (feat. Jay-Z) | 'Suit & Tie' CR: [3-9-17-26-23-20-26-30-24-24-28-36-43] - 13 Weeks

If there is one person 2013 belonged to, for me that was Justin Timberlake. It was such a brilliant comeback and perfect timing. This song actually gets BETTER with age. He really is the most flawless human being of 2013 for me! He still has two more songs to come higher!

---

#17: ONEREPUBLIC | 'If I Lose Myself' CR: [7-1-3-2-4-6-9-6-9-16-24-33-41] - 13 Weeks

This is the song that should have given this group their first UK top 10 smash and their first genuine smash hit since 'Stop & Stare'. It's a shame that it's release got cancelled originally, before apparently being given a new push over here for this year after the phenomenal success of 'Counting Stars'. This is my favourite song from them since 'Secrets' and it stormed to number 1 very early on in the year!

---

#18: MILEY CYRUS | 'We Can't Stop' CR: [15-6-3-4-7-11-14-13-17-21-27-34-40-47] - 14 Weeks

The year's most controversial popstar, without a shadow of a doubt. She got everybody moaning, talking, writing open letters, twerking, the LOT this year and it's been a massive rollercoaster ride seeing Miley, practically troll all the doubters. This song is ridiculously infectious, breezy and catchy, it really isn't hard to see why it was the monster hit it was. She is to appear once more in my countdown!

---

#19: LOREEN | 'We Got the Power' CR: [28-1-1-1-1-2-5-11-18-26-33-37-46] - 13 Weeks

She came back, slayed again and left right away again. Last years reigning EOY champion, LORQUEEN, came back with some words of enthusiasm and strength and absolutely nailed it, again. It didn't have quite the same effect as her OPUS 'Euphoria' did, but my GOD was it a good try!

---

#20: JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE | 'Tunnel Vision' CR: [12-3-6-9-18-30-40-X(6)-15-8-8-8-5-11-16-24-32-45] - 17 Weeks

At number 20 we have the stunning single from JusKing, 'Tunnel Vision'. It was an instant hit with me once I'd heard the album and although I was incredibly happy at it being a single, in hindsight it probably shouldn't have been as it seemed to kill off (almost completely!) all momentum he had, almost instantly! Thankfully 'Take Back the Night' worked for a bit (before 'TKO' "did a 'Tunnel Vision'!"). As I stated earlier, still two entries for the (new) king of pop, to come!

GREAT so far!!

#16: JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE (feat. Jay-Z) | 'Suit & Tie' CR: [3-9-17-26-23-20-26-30-24-24-28-36-43] - 13 Weeks

Yes! Can't agree more! Suit & Tie just peaked for me in the last month, and I despised it at first! A M A Z I N G .

TOO. LOW.

Suit & Tie is probs my least fave of the 20/20 Experience singles, bit, meh, but him getting a massage in the vid makes up for it.

Tunnel Vision has grown on me alot recently, ashamed that it's the only single this era I didn't chart :(

#11 - #15:

11: CIARA | 'Ciara'

CHART RUN: [1-1-1-1-1-1-2-3-2-4-4-6-6] - 13 Weeks

So the unlucky album to miss out on the top 10 position goes to Ciara's self titled album! Full of infectious pop melodies and hooks, rnb beats and her gorgeously toned voice. She really sprung this out of nowhere and it hit so hard! Her best album to date, imo. Edging just above 'Fantasy Ride'.

---

12: CHVRCHES | 'The Bones Of What You Believe'

CHART RUN: [2-2-2-2-4-4-4-4-6-6-6-9] - 12 Weeks

Due to BJSC, I've been aware of CHVRCHES for a little while now, but for whatever reason, they didn't really make much of an impression on me. That was until 2013, and they released 'Gun' and suddenly, they appealed to me. This is such a brilliant, electro, indie, dance album. So good to witness live too! Especially the track, 'Lies'!

---

13: ARIANA GRANDE | 'Yours Truly'

CHART RUN: [1-1-1-3-5-5-6-7-5-7-8-10] - 12 Weeks

Another year, another breakthrough act! Ariana Grande has been on a few kids TV shows (something to do with Nickelodeon I think) but she decided to finally release her debut album this year and what a corker it is! The new Mariah Carey (no, SERIOUSLY) with her R&B flavoured pop, with those MASSIVE vocals, which she seems to hit LIVE too!

---

14: ONEREPUBLIC | 'Native'

CHART RUN: [1-5-6-7-8-5-7-8-X(5)-4-6-6-8-7-9-8-10] - 16 Weeks

2013 marked the return of OneRepublic who's last studio album, was released in 2010 and flopped after their enormous debut album and era. They came back this year and although the album never took off properly, it's been a fairly consistent and stable seller since 'Counting Stars' stormed it's way up the charts and went to number 1. The album debuted at number 1 for me and although the chart run doesn't look like it's deserving, it really is!

---

15: KE$HA | 'Warrior'

CHART RUN: [5-8-8-11-5-5-4-4-6-6-7-7-7-9-11-10] - 16 Weeks

In the top 15 by the skin of her teeth is the second album from everyone's favourite trashy popstar, K dollar-sign Ha. After the album initially failed to make much of an impact on me, it grew and grew and I became a believer in her again. It's such a solid, trashy poptastic album full of songs that should be hits! Still bitter at how badly 'C'mon' flopped!

#11: MILEY CYRUS | 'Wrecking Ball' CR: [8-8-4-5-9-4-3-4-9-17-22-29-37-39] - 14 Weeks

She's back but this time, at her favourite number. #11. Why have one "1" when you can have two, eh? But seriously, such a brilliant and beautifully structured song. So unique and such a powerful and emotional delivery which you know why it means so much to her. It's a shame this couldn't quite manage to go top 10 in my EOY chart, but I do love it so much! Not even got bored of it.

---

#12: DEMI LOVATO | 'Heart Attack' CR: [10-2-3-4-5-2-1-1-2-5-3-7-12-19-26-32-37-45-49] - 19 Weeks

Up next at number 12, is the pop anthem 'Heart Attack' by Demi Lovato who really has turned into a massive pop star herself these last 12 months or so. 'Heart Attack' has a unique structure and it's easy to see why it's gone on to be one of her signature hits already. SO GOOD. Demi has one song left in this EOY chart though! So she has one top 10 placing single as well as album, which is still to appear in EOY album chart!

---

#13: STAFFORD BROTHERS (feat. Christina Milian & Lil Wayne) | 'Hello' CR: [32-22-4-2-1-2-6-13-17-22-25-29-35-46] - 14 Weeks

Here we have it (unless you wanna count 'Work Bitch' - which is still to come) my favourite dance song of the year. 'Hello' was a massive success nowhere but Australia, mine and Gooddelta's charts. Undeservedly so too! It'd be a massive party anthem I reckon if it got a major push. Plus new Christina Milian is always good <3

---

#14: NICKY ROMERO & NERVO | 'Like Home' CR: [35-17-14-6-3-3-5-11-16-13-17-24-31-35-37-43-49] - 17 Weeks

Number 14 and another dance anthem, this time from Nicky Romero who teamed up with female dance duo (?) NERVO, to create this monster of an anthem. Up until the Summer, this was firmly my favourite dance track of 2013, but then 'Hello' came along and, well... Still a brilliant song that deserved a chart run like the one I gave it, in the official UK charts!

---

#15: JAY-Z (feat. Justin Timberlake) | 'Holy Grail' CR: [1-1-1-3-6-10-15-15-20-23-26-33-38-44] - 14 Weeks

Another section and yet another Justin Timberlake related track. This time featuring on Jay-Z's song and returning the favour for what they conjured up together with 'Suit & Tie'. Unlike S&T though, this song is much more commercial and radio friendly and I still think the hook is one of Justin's very best and vocally... omg. LUCIOUS. One more song from him to come!

I have only recently come to appreciate Holy Grail, JT sounds SO good on it.
Hoping for a February 2013 #1 / September 2013 #1 Top 2

Thanks you whore.

Nothing thus far has got my dander up Jonjo dear. :(
WHATEVUH.

Colors is the highlight so far, great to see it here :D I'm not sure what the vocal mix was in aid of, I can't see it getting a push here but the instrumental is iconic

So low for Applause! And I'd forgotten all about that Kleerup/Loreen single, it was 'nice' for a couple of weeks for me and that's it.

The instrumental is absolutely wonderful. If the vocal mix is to give it a push in the UK, I'm all for it. Although I too don't think it'll do much. :(

'Applause' faded on me fast. I don't quite dislike it though and the people saying it has no hook or chorus or whatever it is they're saying about it, is baffling. The Kleerup and Loreen song is stunning <3 You're not that big on Kleerup in general though, are you? (Bar the obvious )

Almost expecting an entire top 20 of Justin/Britney here (not that I'd complain at that of course).

A fair bit I'm liking already. Nice to see Kanye/Jay Z make it in the albums and 'Timber' in the singles :D

EXPECT AGAIN! No album tracks in my chart, so they'd only be able to hold about 8 places between them :kink:

Thank you Hausy <3

GREAT so far!!

Yes! Can't agree more! Suit & Tie just peaked for me in the last month, and I despised it at first! A M A Z I N G .

(congrats on the forum btw :D)

Thank you Jordan :D

So glad you agree on S&T. Such a brilliantly, classy, retro-y and modern song. Thank you for the congrats too. I'm hoping the forum will be a success again <3

TOO. LOW.

Suit & Tie is probs my least fave of the 20/20 Experience singles, bit, meh, but him getting a massage in the vid makes up for it.

Tunnel Vision has grown on me alot recently, ashamed that it's the only single this era I didn't chart :(

You with your JT shade throwing at me -_- He's flawless. A lot of his album tracks have been better than the already incredible singles! But woo. Thank you for commenting <3

He really does. His voice and tone is so smooth and just lovely! It's perfect

#10:

SINGLE:

DEMI LOVATO - MADE IN THE USA CR: [8-4-6-10-13-17-21-14-12-10-5-4-5-11-18-25-31-44] - 18 Weeks

EOY Positions:

SINGLES:

2011 49 'Skyscraper'

2013 10 'Made In the USA'

2013 13 'Heart Attack'

ALBUMS:

2011 32 'Unbroken'

Kick starting the top 10 for me is the wonderful Demi Lovato with her major flop, 'Made In the USA'. This song has all the ingredients it needs to be as close to being the most perfect pop song, of this last year. It's catchy. It's got hooks. It has a rather gorgeous melody. Demi really brings the vocal. It's pretty anthemic. So to see it flop as badly as it did in the official charts was completely unjustified and undeserved. Probably my favourite song from her.

ALBUM:

JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE - THE 20/20 EXPERIENCE (2 OF 2) CR: [1-1-2-2-5-6-8-9-9-10] - 10 Weeks

EOY Positions:

SINGLES:

2008 89 '4 Minutes' (Madonna feat.)

2009 77 'Love, Sex, Magic' (Ciara feat.)

2013 15 'Holy Grail' (Jay-Z feat.)

2013 16 'Suit & Tie' (feat. Jay-Z)

2013 20 'Tunnel Vision'

2013 23 'Take Back the Night'

2013 30 'TKO'

ALBUMS:

2013 10 'The 20/20 Experience (2 of 2)'

Top 5:

01. 'Not A Bad Thing'

02. 'Amnesia'

03. 'Take Back the Night'

04. 'True Blood'

05. 'TKO'

In at number 10 of the albums is the 2nd part to Justin's phenomenally successful 1st part, 'The 20/20 Experience'. This half of the album was nowhere near the success that the first part was, but who cares? It gave us MORE Justin and lets be honest, there can never be enough of him.
