It's kinda exhausting seeing fans up in arms about Best Group. Yes, there's been a couple of odd inclusions over the years, but generally, no, no artist would be nominated without launching a new era/album that year. Do I agree the rules are silly? Yes. Do I think Little Mix were the biggest group last year? yes. But it's odd to think The Brits are going to suddenly change the criteria for them I think?

I'm not really sure if this is directed at me or not, but since I was the only one "up in arms," I'll chime in.

I'm not really up in arms, I was just very surprised. I understand now why they weren't nominated (no album last year makes sense,) and no, I never expected the Brits to change their criteria. I didn't even know what their criteria was to start with, hence my surprise when they weren't nominated.

Not trying to exhaust anyone; I just love LM and thought they would have been nominated, that's all

Edit: a word

Oh no, I didn't even see you complaining! I just saw loads about it on Twitter! It's annoying that even though lots of them have seen that they haven't released an album, they're still complaining.

Like Camila and Rita Ora were also huge in 2017 but neither were nominated for best female because their albums haven't come out yet either.

Oops, my bad! Yeah, it's probably a full on meltdown on Twitter

They've been in the lead for 3 days now.

Looking good at the moment. All depends on the night though

I remember thinking Little Mix would make it on the night due to their performances but on the night the 1D hash tags were waaaaay ahead, it was annoying.

Yeah. Similar thing will happen I reckon. Dua's fans will be ready along with Harry's on the actual night.

Aren't these rounds just to dwindle the category down to a top 5 for the night, or is that not a thing anymore? If it's not the thing anymore it's really annoying, coz why bother opening the vote if people could just vote on the night and everything won't count or whatever?

I don't think they were ever ahead during the early voting stages though
They def were at some points for 'Hair' but 'Black Magic' was only ever leading whenever the voting opened up again and OneDirection would take the lead after. :(
  • 4 weeks later...

They've made it to the final of the video (as expected).

They're up against:

Ed Sheeran

Harry Styles

Liam Payne

Zayn Malik

Poor Dua. :(

Let's do it for the girls/women in general. I was hoping the 1D boys would split the votes between each other, making way for Dua. :(

Touch doesn’t deserve to be in the top 10 videos of 2017, it’s actually ridiculous that it’s managed to sail it’s way into the top five! I’ll be shocked if we find a non deluded stan who thinks is actually better than New Rules and Symphony, although the same could be said for the top five!

I just find it rewatchable and have seen it a lot of times. More so than any other music video recently. There's a certain charm to it I find. There might not be a storyline like 'Symphony' in it or 'New Rules', but tbf I don't find the 'Symphony' video rewatchable. Even if I can appreciate it as a video. It's far too serious and all I want to do most the time is listen to the song to escape a bit.

'New Rules' is rewatchable and I'm gutted that couldn't beat any of the males in this category as it's fun, carefree and what I want/personally look for from a music video.

'Symphony' shoulda been top 5 out of the contenders, but it was never gonna get there with a fan voted award against 3 1D members, Little Mix, Ed and Dua. Tbh, didn't 'Symphony' get knocked out early, too? Like 8th or 9th? (I could be wrong) but yeah.

I think BRITs academy or whoever shoulda just cut the shortlist down themselves and put it to the public vote on the night.

New Rules deserved the win. But this has always been a fan award. Nothing to do with video quality.

I would ditch the public award as a whole!

Also Jonjo, Symphony finished 7th just behind Dua

The Touch video was awful, this isn't really based on the video is a public vote, it's just who has a bigger fanbase  Ofc though I would be more than happy for the girls to finally get a Brit, especially over the others they're against now! They really should have got Group last year.

They already have one, for best single last year :kink:

So twitter is going into a meltdown because Little Mix were #1 on British video even when the countdown stopped and still lost 🙃🙃🙃
