They should've played 'Drunk In Love' with that massive climb up to #12, plus it could sneak top 10 by Sunday.

Lorde climbing again on the albums chart and 'Royals' back up one place (seems to be holding up much better now than it was to begin with) :D

Over 1/3rd (14 out of the 40) of the song titles in this week's midweek Top 40 update are single word song titles - is this becoming a modern trend?

Perhaps shorter song titles are easier to include in twitter hashtags, which might be a contributory factor?

I don't recall there being quite as many as this in the recent, or distant past (I'm sure that somebody will correct me)

Great to see Pharrell back at #1 already :D I do prefer that to 'Timber' so yay for it getting a 2nd week at #1. Hardwell's debut is not bad either, I just hope it can climb throughout the week and land in the top 20.

31 Little Mix - Salute

36 Kodaline - In A Perfect World

YES! Go on Idina! Please stay there for Sunday! :D

Great to see Little Mix still top 40 in the albums. I think they could be boosted next week tbh, I don't know why I just get a feeling and I just about DIED when I saw 'In A Perfect World'... F YOU KODALINE. Keri >>>>>> You.

For some reason I prefer Timber at #1, yes its that ever changing #1 thingy every week  I know its not exactly my kind of track and I do prefer Pharrell over it.

I see Clean Bandit are doing well on pre-orders, I do love that track, I'm hoping that will do the business over The Vamps.

"There are three new entries on this week’s Official Singles Chart Update Top 40: Lady Gaga’s re-recording of her 2013 single Do What U Want, which sees Christina Aguilera replacing original collaborator R Kelly, debuts at Number 9 today. The pair premiered their new duet during the live final of the US series of The Voice at the end of last month."

WTF?

Are they going to considere this as a new entry now? That would be a MESS.

The MW report said it's climbed 23-9 and it's still listed in the chart as 'Lady Gaga & R. Kelly' so no, I don't think it's being counted as a new entry despite what that paragraph says.

EDIT: I see its credit has actually now been changed to just 'Lady Gaga' on the OCC website (which I suppose is sensible enough, I'm still going to keep it as 'Lady Gaga feat. R. Kelly' in chart threads and my spreadsheets though). Still don't think it's being counted as a new entry though.

Great to see Hardwell entering at 23 and its still climbing on iTunes so hopefully this should be top 20 by Sunday! And I'm thrilled to see Sub Focus and Breach back in the top 40!

I'd rather anything other than Timber/Happy would be number one but I have my fingers crossed we could get number ones from Clean Bandit and maybe Katy B before the end of the month

It must be high physical sales that's keeping Ellie at number one on the albums but I think Beyonce will beat her to it on the chart

Delighted with the climbs for Pharrell, Fuse ODG, Matrix & Futurebound, AWOLNATION, Chase & Status, Sub Focus and Breach! :cheer:

Looking good for Hardwell to enter the top twenty this week. :yahoo:

err... a mini Thursday update

Pharrell #1 on sales of 52,8k, Pitbull around 3,300 behind, reminder of the top 5 follow as Avicii, Jason Derulo, Fuse ODG. Lady Gaga #10, Beyonce #12, new entry for Hardwell at #23, notable climbers from Sub Focus #27, Kid Ink #33, Breach #34, Idina Menzel #35 and Vance Joy #40

Ellie still #1 in the albums on sales of 12,3k Beyonce around 750 copies behind reminder of the top 5 follow as Gary Barlow, John Newman, Bastille, the only new entry in the top 40 for Kid Ink at #27

We are lucky this week!! A wednesday update. Great to see Riptide sneak in today & the top 2 sales looking decent again - could be another 100k!
Four of seven days down, so you'd expect maybe 85-90k for Pharrell and hopefully at least 20k for the top two albums. Springsteen next week should do at least 40k and may even get a second week at #1, then You Me At Six look like a good bet for their first #1 the week after. Picks up a little after that with Bombay Bicycle Club and Katy B the next week.
Come on Let It Go!!!! Would be marvelous if this stays top 40 or can get top 30. It's such a bloody good song!
Will the albums #1 even pass 20k?

4 more days so it should be 25k id say!

You do realise it's Thursday today? :P
