A double-bill of tracks from 'Midnight Memories' up next, and falling short of the top 15 is the title track from the boys' third album. It's set to be released as the third single from the current campaign, and it's not exactly going down well. A lot of flop predictions, but hopefully it can defy the odds and go on to get a top 10 peak! The song itself is so amazing, but as has been pointed out a lot, it ends just as you're getting right into it! The video itself is amazing. Harry looks fabulous in it (when does he not?). Zayn is just... the perfect person in the video (despite all of the "omg racist!!1" claims at him appearing for a limited amount of time). All of the live performances of the song have been fantastic, and Harry looked stunning in them all, particularly the UK X Factor final where he probably looked close to his best.
Just above that is the track that precedes it on 'Midnight Memories' - 'Diana'! Surprised but happy to see that it's landed a spot so high. The only person who doesn't seem to get the fuss about it is Jseoph (<_<). It's definitely one of the highlights on the album, probably in my top three just behind 'Little White Lies' which is just utterly perfect in every way. And I probably only love this as much as I do because I can imagine the video being Zayn-heavy much like the song. It'd be a fabulous choice of single and I can imagine it'd be another top 10 hit for the 1D lads [/pensmithquote].

Both would get a 10 from me now, such amazing pop songs. I'd love 'Diana' to be a single but we all know that's not going to happen. :(

Probably, IMO, more towards the bottom in terms of amazing > "ok" singles from the boys, at #14 is 'One Thing' - the third single from the début album 'Up All Night'. It has an energetic and fun video - very much along the same lines as 'One Way Or Another' (their 'follow us around places and see what happens' videos are normally quite fabulous). 'Up All Night' doesn't exactly have many highlights on it, so this would be in the top 5 possibly.
And then just above that we have 'Strong', one of the best tracks by the boys! Taken from their third album 'Midnight Memories', it's one of the most memorable and definitely one of the strongest (lol)! That whole segment (disregarding 'Don't Forget Where You Belong') is beautiful, right from 'Best Song Ever' to this song (maybe including 'Happily' and 'Right Now' as well?). The fan-made lyric video for this is, of course, beautiful. The superhero image for the boys would work wonders in a video for a single I can imagine. Another way to set the fanbase's hearts racing! :kink:

Strong is waaaay too high. Being above One Thing is ridiculous :(

 

(I feel like I've complained about every Midnight Memories song oops, I do really like the album even if it is, for me, their weakest yet :kink:)

'One Thing' is their most dated single I think, ('Gotta Be You' EAR RAPE aside) so I'm not surprised to see it miss the top 10.

Looking back I have no idea what I was thinking giving 8/10 to both 'Midnight Memories' and 'Diana' (they're 6.5/10 at best).

 

Much better pairing with 'One Thing' and 'Strong' though (the latter very much an album highlight) :wub:

'Strong' is such a gorgeous track. :wub: The verses are interesting... sort of quirky and intense, and then we suddenly launch into a punchy chorus. Great stuff.

Now we reach the two songs that were very unfortunate not to make it into the top 10! First at #12 is 'Don't Forget Where You Belong'. Just a *bit* miffed as to how this has managed to get as high as this - it's not even one of the highlights from 'Midnight Memories'. It's a decent song on the whole, and yet again another nicely penned song by Tom, Danny and Dougie but beating the likes of 'Strong', 'Midnight Memories' and 'Diana'? :unsure:
And sitting criminally at #11 is the lead single from the boys' second album 'Take Me Home' - 'Live While We're Young'! Definitely one of their most fun, most exciting and most well executed singles (or SONG). The video is fabulous as well (not just for Zayn x, but for that moment at the beginning that I'm sure a lot of people know what I'm referring to xox). Zayn's second verse though *.*, sry but it completes the song :kink:

YES it very much is young man. :angry: "Don't Forget Where You Belong" craps all over "Diana" and "Midnight Memories" from a great height for me, the McFly penned tracks always end up being highlights. :wub:

 

Sad to see that one just miss out on the top 10 but I'm glad "Live While We're Young" has, it does feel a bit like they were trying to re-create the success of "What Makes You Beautiful" but it just ends up a bit weak, a nice song but it doesn't stick out as a singles highlight.

Can't believe the GLORIOUS Tell Me A Lie went out so soon, and indeed much of the first album seems to be doing poorly. Silly people, it's by far the best.

Don't Forget Where You Belong is the best non-single on MM. And it's even better than one of the singles (MM itself).
