Wow, that's higher than 'Wake Me Up' got right? I don't think it'll sell as much as that did but 200k could be possible for them now :o
I seem to think 'Wake Me Up' reached #8 on pre-orders too but I'm not sure. There's probably a good chance Clean Bandit will overtake Ellie before the end of today anyway and then they will definitely have the highest iTunes position for a pre-order!
Rather Be  8

Wow... goodbye The Cramps

I've just checked previous iTunes weekly threads and 'Wake Me Up' did get to #8 on pre-orders. So Clean Bandit needs to climb another place to get the record for themselves! :kink: (Not counting the X Factor winner's single pre-order which apparently got to #1 before 'Impossible' was released).

As I'll point out again, James Arthur - Impossible reached #1 on pre-order just before release at around 10:30pm. It was then released around 10-15 minutes later!

I was under the impression that 'Wake Me Up' only got to #9, I must be wrong then. Anyway Clean Bandit have beat Adele for the highest pre-order for a UK act so yay them! (excluding James Arthur of course)

I just don't get how Clean Bandit can be so high with this song, when they flopped with Mozart's House

I don't "get" this song atm

Yeah I mentioned that in my post just before yours but I'm comparing 'Rather Be' to typical pre-orders that have been climbing up the charts for a few weeks and then get released at midnight, of course 'Impossible' was completely different to that and is unique in the way it was released.

This is the post that suggests it reached #8 just before it was released: http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?s...t&p=4382111

You can't really call Mozarts House a flop, a top 40 single by a 'new' act with no hype around them is not a flop, it's very impressive.

Rather Be is one of the songs EVERYONE seems to know and love, all my friends are on about it, tonnes of people are tweeting about it etc., I knew it would be massive and deservedly so
I would have liked Dust Clears to have made more impact on the top 40 than it did instead of this even thouygh this is a fantastic song and hope it has a long chart run, such as Wake Me Up did.
Rather Be  8

I raise you... its #7 now

Yeah 'Mozart's House' definitely didn't flop, it got as high as #17 with no support beyond Radio 1 and sounding absolutely nothing like any other recent hit single. Maybe if you said 'Dust Clears' then yes (as you would maybe have expected that to do better after they had a hit single to their name) but I'm assuming you forgot that even happened

36. Do What U Want (feat. R. Kelly) - Lady Gaga

98. Do What U Want (feat. Christina Aguilera) - Lady Gaga

Bet they'll still play the Xtina version on the chart show <_<

Wow... goodbye The Cramps

No re-entry for "Bikini Girls With Machine Guns" then?

I mixed up Dust Clears and Mozart's House :P

But can you really call a {17}-27-46 chartrun a hit? Sure it's impressive that they even made the top 40, let alone top 20 but I wouldn't call it a hit.

Ah, that makes a bit more sense ~

I wouldn't necessarily call it a hit (it was a minor hit at best in the context of the chart as a whole) but I wouldn't say it was a flop either.

Nah it wasn't a flop, Dust Clears was. It was a very minor hit, but it was so much better than Rather Be :(
