Toyah definitely deserves some praise, she's fitted back in so well and so quickly and I've never realised how well Leanne and her were casted in terms of similarities looks-wise!

As much as i dont like her, Kym gave a wonderful performance. I mean this in a positive way, these scenes would have brought back memories to her and she knows that emotion of loss so well and some of her emotion was probably very real life. I would assume these were very tough scenes for her but she really done her job.

Yes, Kym was great.

Loving Phelan's control over Andy and the plot's set to escalate!

I definitely have to give props to Kym as one of her detractors, an impeccable performance and I can't begin to imagine how difficult it was for her! I think it sometimes it takes a really harrowing storyline like that to show what an actor is capable of, because Michelle is quite often just "there" so it's hard to judge her as an actor.
So emotional recently, although I do feel Carla was slightly harsh on Steve - he was doing it in his best intentions and besides, it wasn't originally HIS idea to get rid of Rory's stuff. Also loving the Phelan storyline - I bloody hope he gets his comeuppence soon.

Slight shock departure has been announced for

Nick!

That is a surprise, but I'm actually kinda glad as I never took to the actor or character. Unfortunately, it does mean yet another time that

Leanne has split from Nick and will probably end up back with Peter at some point or another. I reckon that Nick will find he can't cope with bringing up a child that isn't his and decide to leave.

Kate Oates is honestly as bad as, if not worse than, Stuart Blackburn  Does she really think anyone will give even one iota of a shit about any of those 3 in such a storyline?!

I have no idea what's happened to Katie McGlynn, she was brilliant as Scout in Waterloo Road but the character of Sinead is just awful, such a drip. That may be down to writing though, as she hasn't had anything to do since the bus crash I swear, and even that was just a few episodes being shown in hospital and her being back to normal after like 2 months, practically doing cartwheels out of the hospital after being unable to even sit up in bed

I don't think Kate Oates is anything like Stuart Blackburn - could anyone be?! She may have a fetish for affairs but she's made Corrie very watchable again. The Steve and Michelle storyline has had some incredibly strong performances, with the material playing to each actors' strengths, and I've found myself really liking Liz again after she suffered being caricatured by Blackburn (she reminds me of Sharon in Eastenders: when the material is right, they're up their with my all-time favourite characters, but when the team have no idea how to write the character, they suffer for it).

The show does still play towards typical soap formats (like characters turning on those they've known for years/know really well in exchange for people they don't really know at all, plus other slightly more plot-driven devices) and rinse-and-repeat of former glories (Shona being yet another person who rises from the gutter and, more specifically, gets a job in the cafe and befriends Roy - like we've never seen that before..!) but Kate Oates does seem to have redeemed a lot of her predecessor's mistakes and made characters more sympathetic and natural, which was undeniably a hard task to say the least!

Corrie is probably the most consistent soap at the moment which is certainly a turn up for the books. Eastenders has higher highs but is having problems at the moment and, whilst Emmerdale also has its highs, I'm seeing too much of Hollyoaks seeping through.

Helen Flanagan has signed a permanent contract to keep her in the show until December at least

Seriously uncomfortable viewing with the Bethany and sleazy Nathan storyline.

I hope Michelle beats the shit out of Leanne and Steve and face job Nick 3.0.

It's actually been toned down a lot as some at a script writers meeting were uneasy with how they were originally going to do it.

Friday's second episode was great Corrie.
