Not quite what I expected, surprised that Diamonds/Skyfall/Read All About It Part 3/Trouble/Little Talks/Million Voices/Latch/Never Tear Us Apart are missing, I guess the first two at least will be on Now 84 by which time they'll feel absolutely ancient. Actually, that said, do Bond themes ever make the Now albums? Two Wiley songs on Disc 1? 12 number 1's is a good total though.

My biggest problem is that besides Spectrum, I don't really like any of those no.1s!

It's also missed off two Justin Bieber songs. 'As Long As You Love Me' and 'Beauty & A Beat'. I'm actually annoyed Calvin, Florence and Example all have multiple places. (But that's more for selfish reasons - the two CalFlo tracks were major number 1's after all)

I'm still baffled as to why they included Elbow? Has it not featured on a NOW album before?

It never got higher than 35 before last Summer so no. I'd forgotten about it's repeak to be honest so I too was a bit surprised to see it here.

As everyone else has said, a poor selection. There are a lot of good songs but the rubbish and dated songs eclipse all of that. I think that the fact that they've missed out Rihanna and Adele says a lot. They've also left off two of my favourite non Top 10 songs of the year in the form of Little Talks and Million Voices as well. Terrible. I wouldn't be getting it if I wasn't an avid collector of the series. If this really is the last one, they've tarnished their remaining legacy because of their final album. Abysmal.

Oh well, I've done my bit by commenting on the Facebook wall and complaining about the tracklist (like Jonjo and gooddelta have), so hopefully they'll change it if there's enough demand. Didn't they do that with Now 81?
Yep. They swapped Jason Mraz 'I Won't Give Up' (which went on to go on Now 82) and replaced it with 'Wild Ones' IIRC.
It was Good Feeling that replaced I Won't Give Up, would have been a ridiculous omission if they hadn't changed it!
Where are Rihanna, Adele and The Killers? Ughh...

It does seem shocking that Rihanna isn't on here. But Russian Roulette wasn't on 74, instead on 75 with Rude Boy.

I haven't really been keeping up with the charts recently so some of these songs I have no idea about. Some good songs, a little dissapointed in it, especially since this could be the final NOW ever

NOW 83 could be the LAST Now CD ever

The Now That's What I Call Music! series may be forced to come to an end later this year.

The long-running and hugely popular music compilation is said to be in jeopardy due to the takeover of EMI by Universal.

As part of the deal with the European Commission for Universal's £1.2 billion takeover of EMI, the label has agreed to sell EMI's 50% stage of the Now! brand.

The series is set to end with upcoming edition Now 83 - to be released in November - unless a buyer arrives to invest in the compilations.

The current compilation in the series Now 82 is currently the biggest selling album of the year with sales of over 700,000.

"Everyone has at least one Now album in their record and CD collection – they're a total guilty pleasure and an essential part of growing up," Top of the Pops magazine editor Peter Hart told The Independent.

"But at the same time, these song collections are nearly as an important part of British pop heritage as Top of the Pops itself, and it would be devastating to see them disappear for good."

Now! was launched in 1983, and was the first compilation series that worked with the major record labels of the day to include several number ones and big hits on one record.

The series has since sold over 100 million copies, and continues to dominate the compilation chart with each new edition, as well as several spin-offs including Now Dance.

1999's Now 44 is currently the biggest selling edition, shifting 2.3 million copies, making it the best selling compilation album ever.

It has also been launched in other countries around the world, including the United States, Argentina, Egypt and New Zealand.

Industry experts have stated that buyers for all parts of EMI are likely to arrive, especially the Now! series, which continues to be hugely popular.

Maybe Buzzjack should buys the rights to continue the Now! series. Imagine how awesome the tracklists would be. :w00t:

It's a shame though because I usually find the predicted tracklists that people post here are better than the official ones, purely because Now! include top 10 hits from 3 months ago that didn't stick around long. Like Jonjo posted, it often ends up feeling dated before its released.

To be fair to them, I suppose the Now albums are more representative now than they ever were 10-15 years ago when they competed with the Hits series and missed a ton of big hits each time due to record label politics. The charts are obviously slower too now, rendering an alternative Hits album completely pointless, what would they fill one with? The 10 songs that Now missed along with a load of non top 40 hits?

What a brilliant idea! An album full of Diana Vickers and Marina + The Diamonds album tracks! :w00t:

I wouldn't buy it. -_-

I CALL Margaret Berger 'Will You Remember Me Tomorrow' to open Disc 1! :drink:

Been having a think about why Rihanna isn't on Now 83 and I think it's because there's no video for the song yet, it's still getting a large amount of radio play and the album hasn't been released. So maybe Universal didn't put it on because not everything has come to plan yet. I'm sure we'll get a double RiRi apperance on Now 84

A new compilation coming soon:

I'm sure that'll sell well (!). Nice to see a Solo GA member on a NOW that isn't Cheryl

Looks like they've brought back the Now Dance Series
