F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone agrees a £60 million court settlement to end his bribery case in Munich.

How is Maldonado and Gutierrez still in F1 well because of their sponsorship money. Surely they would have been out of F1 without it?

  • 2 weeks later...

Max Verstappen will become the youngest ever driver in F1 history as Toro Rosso have signed him up for next season. He is the son of ex-F1 driver Jos Verstappen who was in F1 from 1994 to 2003.

Max will make his debut at 17 years old.

However he still won't be allowed to drive in his native country Holland as the minimum age for driving a car there is 18.

He's currently in Formula Three.

Is 17 too young for F1?

Three-time Le Mans winner Andre Lotterer will replace Kamui Kobayashi at Caterham for the Belgian Grand Prix. Why not replace Ericsson because all he seems to do is crash.

Caterham:

Lotterer will replace Kamui Kobayashi for this round of the championship.

"The team will benefit from having another experienced driver at the wheel of the car throughout the weekend and the German's feedback will contribute to improve the performance of the car."

What a load of bull. Why not have two experienced drivers than an complete F1 novice who was a test driver for Jaguar in 2002 and a rookie who seems to crash a lot.

I think Caterham are doing it for some Advertising $$$. No other explanation really.

Although a 3 times Le Mans winner is hardly something to sniff at.

Max Chilton has been replaced for this weekend's Belgian Grand Prix by reserve driver Alexander Rossi due to contractual issues probably something to do with Max's funding and Marussia in talk with investors and want some more dollars.

So Alexander Rossi and Andre Lotterer will both make their debut in Spa this weekend.

Turns out that Max Chilton will drive in Belgium after all. As the issues with Marussia have been resolved. Very strange indeed. Poor Alexander Rossi who looked to be making his debut this weekend but now had that taken away.

It's all a bit suspicious. Clearly money motivated as apparently the team barely couldn't afford the trip!

So the drama at Mercedes is rather overshadowing today's result.

I must say I really do think Rosberg did it deliberately to get Hamilton out of points contention. Makes me doubt whether Rosberg's 'parking' of his car at Monaco was quite as innocent as he made out either.

Couldn't help but LOL @ Rosberg being extensively booed at the podium and the presenter's meltdowns!

Loving all this drama though! Makes you wonder if Rosberg and Hamilton will be teammates next season and if not, who will leave and where will they go. And will Rosberg continue defend his lead by (excuse the hyperbole) 'sabotaging' Hamilton? :drama:

I was gutted I was in a course and missed the majority of this. I saw the news that Rosberg had done what he did and couldn't help but laugh. Arrogant little c**t Hamilton deserves it! It's just Karma coming back to bite him in the arse and he can't handle it.

Preach!!! Honestly I thought I was the only one who thought Hamilton was proper up his own arse. All my friends don't understand why I don't like him but he just gives off this "I'm the best and everyone should bow down to me" persona.

It ultimately proves that it's hard to have an individual sport inside a team sport. If Rosberg had done the same thing to Vettel and they were in the same Championship situation, I can't imagine there'd be anything like as much uproar as there is with this. It proves why Ferrari have generally always partnered a world class driver with a competent and very able one, two team-mates fighting for the title and you'll always get this, just look at Alonso/Hamilton and some of the Vettel/Webber stuff. I know Rosberg isn't as good a driver as Hamilton, but he's fully deserved his chance over the last few years and when one car is so dominant it's always going to be those two fighting for pole and then the race win, it's the longest track yes but Vettel was 3rd, over 2 seconds behind pole!

I've grown incredibly tired of Hamilton over the years and have been rooting for Nico all season but do it fairly, don't stoop so low! I'm just pleased Ricciardo is doing so well at the moment, what an excellent and incredibly likeable driver he is!

Even the FIA are getting in on the act.

They could even penalise Rosberg for causing a collision.

What do I think should happen. All 18 points should be taken away from him.

It's nearly all Germans doing it. Schumacher on Damon Hill in 1994, Vettel on Webber in Hungary, now Rosberg.

Typical, they just can't stand losing so they stoop to cheating.

I remember Prost & Senna at McLaren years ago but at least it was at the last race, not halfway through the season.

Rosberg knows that unless he cheats, if Lewis has a reliable car Lewis would win in the end hands down.

No wonder the team are furious, they could have had a 1,2 collecting 43 constructors points in the end they only got 18 which will cost them quite a few million in prize money.

I don't mind Hamilton, admittedly I don't watch much forumla 1, although you have to give it to him, he is one of the better drivers.

This whole incident is awful though. Even I can tell that Rosberg should not have done what he did. You ruin it for the fans, and you ruin the championship as a contest. Awful sportsmanship.

But what has that got to do with anything? (same to Silas obviously)

Lewis is indeed a bit unlikeable at times but that doesn't mean it should be tolerated if another driver deliberately causes damage to his car. I'm not at all surprised he was booed and I doubt it was solely british fans, anyone who believes sport should be played fairly is bound to have disapproved of the incident.

I'm with RFC in his love for Ricciardo, my ideal outcome is that he somehow snatches the title away from both of the Mercedes drivers!

The FIA will not be investigating into the collision.

Again everyone's fault but me, Hamilton.

Rosberg shouldn't have done it but was it inevitable that there would be contact between these two racing each other sometime this season.

It's pretty much Hamilton saying this and Rosberg saying the other.

Will Hamilton retaliate in a later race?

But Ricciardo for me has a outside chance for the World Championship. Another couple of wins in Italy and Singapore then it will be interesting.

All it would take it for Ricciardo to be within 50 points of both Merc drivers going into Abu Dhabi, they take each other out & Ricciardo win. I certainly wouldn't rule out that scenario actually happening.

Kamui Kobayashi is set to return to race for Caterham in Italy after he was replaced by Lotterer in Spa.

It will be interesting to see what happens when Rosberg and Hamilton battle for the lead in the first lap.... Providing there aren't any mishaps in qualifying for Rosberg and Hamilton.
