Thank JESUS! I am soooooo glad that he's breathing on his own, that's a positive indication!

Absolutely love Jules Bianchi, he's also exceptionally pretty (easily the hottest F1 driver), he's a champion in waiting for sure so I am praying for a full and speedy recovery for Bianchi.

Reckon he'll be out for the rest of the season :( Although the pay drivers Marussia will put in his seat should seriously help them financially.

Former F1 driver Andrea de Cesaris has died at the age of 55 following a motorcycle accident in Italy where he collided with a guard rail at high speed

He holds the record for the most starts without winning a race at 208 and the record for the most retirements in a single year with 14/16 non-finishes in 1987. The 2 races he finished were third in Belgium and 8th in Australia whilst driving for Brabham.

Going back to today's race:

Why was the start of the race not moved earlier?

Why was the green flag being waved?

Absolutely horrific to watch that. Warning contains graphic content.

The FIA have started investigations into the crash.

Bianchi's family have issued a statement:

'Jules remains in the Intensive Care Unit of the Mie General Medical Center in Yokkaichi. He has suffered a diffuse axonal injury and is in a critical but stable condition. The medical professionals at the hospital are providing the very best treatment and care and we are grateful for everything they have done for Jules since his accident.

'We are also grateful for the presence of Professor Gerard Saillant, President of the FIA Medical Commission, and Professor Alessandro Frati, Neurosurgeon of the University of Rome La Sapienza, who has travelled to Japan at the request of Scuderia Ferrari. They arrived at the hospital today and met with the medical personnel responsible for Jules’ treatment, in order to be fully informed of his clinical status so that they are able to advise the family. Professors Saillant and Frati acknowledge the excellent care being provided by the Mie General Medical Center and would like to thank their Japanese colleagues.

The hospital will continue to monitor and treat Jules and further medical updates will be provided when appropriate.'

Again. Get well soon Jules. We'll be praying for you.

Why was the green flag being waved?

I can only assume it was to mean that it was all clear after that section, but why it was being waved right by the crash scene itself I've no idea.

Looking at this video here:

From 0:14-0:59- There were double-waved yellow flags

1:00- The green flag is now flown despite the fact the recovery truck is carrying Sutil's car and still on the circuit and begins reversing.

1:10- Bianchi's car is hurtling towards the recovery truck which is still reversing.

1:12- Bianchi's car hits the recovery truck.

1:12-2:31. The green flag is still being waved.

1 minute and 19 seconds it took before the yellow flags were waved after Bianchi's crash. Which is straggling. Surely the yellow flag would have come out immediately.

It's also incredibly fortunate that the accident didn't take out several of the guys recovering Sutil's car.

Definitely indeed very fortunate that the accident didn't hit any of the guys who were recovering Sutil's car.

Strong words in the driver's briefing today before the Russian Grand Prix.

For me I think it was the worst race of my life. It's a really bad race, worse than the race of my accident - because I didn't remember. It was the worst race of my life. Yeah. It's so difficult to be everyday because I can just be thinking about him, thinking about Jules. It's a very difficult weekend for all of us. Maybe tomorrow it will get a little bit better because at least you are working, at least you have something to think about, some issue put inside your brain. Try to race and do the best we can for him, for his family. But anyway, it was the worse race of my life.
From Felipe Massa

"It is not acceptable. We have to look for answers from the FIA on what happened in this tragic accident.

We have to make sure they hear us In the future, when there is a tractor picking up a car, we need a Safety Car, no matter the conditions because there is always a risk.

You expose the marshals, a lot of people, so we need a safety car if the tractor is on track.

You could have people run out of brakes, so many factors you never expect, and if the tractor is there it's a big problem.

You don't want to expose anyone like that. We have to take care of the marshals

From Perez

Marussia have entered Alexandra Rossi as Bianchi's replacement although the decision will be made tomorrow.

What are your views on the events of the Japanese Grand Prix and also of the footage of the crash?

How the safety car didn't come out when a recovery vehicle is there is daft. Surely a safety car should come out when there is a recovery vehicle in order to avoid events in Suzuka.

I love wet weather races and they are often the most exciting but the race should have been red flagged earlier or even cancelled. I'm not saying it was undriveable out there as I've seen worse conditions on the track in races but the FIA have stated that the medical helicopter was unable to fly in those high winds. This meant that Bianchi had to be driven to the hospital. In this case it may have made no difference but could mean life or death on another day in another accident.

Thoughts are with Bianchi but it really doesn't look good right now.

As for De Cesaris, I remember him well and he was a very likeable chap. For a driver who was nicknamed De Crasheris (and not without good cause) it seems tragically fitting he would go out that way.

Hamilton on pole for the Russian Grand Prix.

Great fifth place on the grid for Kvyat in the Toro Rosso. Hopefully he'll be able to convert that into a good points position tomorrow as his best finish has been 9th.

Thankfully no big crashes in qualifying today.

Are Forza Rossa meant to be entering F1 in 2015?

That Russian GP was honestly one of the most boring races I've ever seen. What a terrible track, barely a single overtaking spot, run-off at every corner and there was no challenge on the tyres whatsoever, how can it be acceptable for a single compound to comfortably manage the entire race? Hamilton winning was the only positive part, we have yet another soulless Tilke output just like India & South Korea...

Caterham will be allowed to miss the USA and Brazilian Grand Prix to focus on finding a buyer which has been allowed by Bernie.

No reaction yet from Marcus Ericsson and Kamui Kobayashi.

Who would want to buy Caterham anyway? Back of the grid team that hasn't come close to scoring a point.

Marussia will also be missing the US Grand Prix and the Brazilian Grand Prix.

It will be the first time since the 2005 Monaco Grand Prix that there'll be 18 cars on the grid for the race.
