Posted January 25, 201412 yr So there actually seems to be a mixed opinion, even though All Fired Ups sister seems to have been the perfect choice for next single, a lot of people seem against the decision, what would you have liked to have seen? I think the choice was the best and want to see Anywhere With You or/and Lease My Love as next single! Not going to happen probably, but I live to dream! Haha!
January 25, 201412 yr You should've made this a poll Juliano :P I'm 110% on board. Been crazy about the track since we heard clips on CTS and wanted it to be the next single after What About Us. I'm glad they didn't sleep on this one like so many others.
January 25, 201412 yr HELL YES. Like it or not (I personally love it), it's what they need right now.
January 25, 201412 yr Author I thought I made it a poll but it didn't work  I'm also crazy about it, I like the message even. Edited January 25, 201412 yr by Juliano
January 25, 201412 yr Like I said in the other thread. Though I don't love it personally, I think it was 100% a the right single choice and a wise decision.
January 25, 201412 yr It's the best decision in order to shift the album and get them a decent-sized hit, but it won't be massive at all and it reeks of desperation. It's obvious they were headed in 'Leave A Light On''s direction but plumped for this instead. By far one of the weakest on the album but meh, whatever helps the campaign as a whole I guess, because it has been fabulous until now.
January 25, 201412 yr Their best decision ever. Let's just hope radios actually make the right decision of actually playlist the song and play it a lot.

How is it "the best decision in order to shift the album" but also "one of the weakest on the album?" Do you really think it is more dull than the likes of Anywhere With You, Problem With Love, Don't Let Me Dance Alone, and Gentleman? I like Leave A Light On too and I think it's single-worthy, but I don't see it faring any better than Not Giving Up and I don't think it's any better quality-wise. It's the best decision they could have made if they want to shift more albums because the fans will obviously buy into it given how much hyperbole there is surrounding the release and outsiders would probably catch on as well given the comparisons to 'All Fired Up'. However, in my opinion, it's definitely the weakest song on the album. I'm not saying that 'Leave A Light On' would do any better than 'Not Giving Up' would either - only that it would be a preferable single choice. Heck, it won't do much for them, but a beautiful video and a top 20 position would be more than acceptable at this late stage in the campaign.
January 25, 201412 yr Agreed, it's the only viable choice if they were gonna release anything off this album.
January 25, 201412 yr I think it could do something in Australia/New Zealand too if they actually decide to promote there.

Don't get me wrong, this isn't passive-agressive or anything! ♥ I still fail to see how the weakest track on the album can be such a fan favorite and be compared to All Fired Up that was quite critically acclaimed? Don't be pissed, but here's what I think : you don't really think the song is as amazing as people pretend it to be, but these people around here coming after you for this actually make you say it's the weakest track on the album because it's clearly too overrated in your opinion. (If I'm being totally honest with you, I don't even know what's not to like in the track? It's not like the production was cheap, it's actually one of the tracks that sounds good in that department. Granted, you might not think the vocals are the best, but it's nice to hear their voices without autotune everynow and then. The vocals are well shared for once. The lyrics aren't the best, but it's not like it was awfully cheesy or shameful. What's left is the melody of the song itself, but even if you don't like it that much, I don't see how that makes it the worst on the album with the likes of Somebody Else's Life being there.)
January 25, 201412 yr I'm wondering how everyone predicts this will do sales wise assuming they hold it back. Obviously it's way early to tell but, based on the song itself and assuming the campaign is handled similarly to Disco Love, what do you all think? If Disco Love was able to do over 50k first week then I think it could do around 60k. I can see it selling just over 200k when all is said and done, unless airplay is really good in which case I could see it going higher.
January 25, 201412 yr I keep saying that cause LFTW flopped Thisbis gonna do so much better than a usual 5th single and I've only seen a couple of people saying this is gonna do poorly. This clearly should have been the 2nd single to be released and with the amount of people that actually bought the album, Gentleman and DL I think it could do wonders :)

I would agree with you there. I'd say part of why I dislike the song is that it's clearly far too overrated for its own good when it's really not *that* special at all. I've given it repeated listens, but still find nothing as interesting about it as the likes of '30 Days', 'What About Us', 'Gentleman' (!!), 'Disco Love', 'Leave A Light On', 'You Don't Have the Right', etc. Even the other tracks on the album appear stronger to me, maybe because the fans aren't hyping the shit out of it and expecting something massive if / when it is released. :P It's by no means their worst track at all, because there are plenty of duds to choose from in their discography, but it's one of the weakest links on 'Living For the Weekend' - a mix of dislike because it really isn't that strong plus the aforementioned. Don't want to rain on anybody's parade at all, so I'll remain positive in the hope that this will do well for the girls and will get them the next hit that they need with the campaign to keep them on the go. ^_^
January 25, 201412 yr I'm not exactly in love with the idea but not exactly "I HATE THIS SONG". However I think we are being very optimistic in what we are expecting!
January 25, 201412 yr This is definitely the right choice but I'm not so sure it's not too late to release anything. It could easily miss the top-20 if they're unlucky and don't plan on any promo. And I don't agree with the decision of making it 'album only'. If it flops - it flops, peak position doesn't mean that much in this day and age.

I'm no expert though x
