I heard 'Sweater Weather' on R1 the other day so I think it is finally going to be getting a push here soon.

 

Incidentally that was the first time I've heard it and I was a bit disappointed to be honest. Might be a grower though.

Erm....maybe because it's not the single the record company wants promoting at this moment in time. I'm not sure if they're giving it some non-playlist spot plays though.

Captial Fm have playlisted Drunk in Love though so I don't think that's the case . Also aren't they both meant to be singles .

Yeah but Capital don't play as much of a variety as R1 do. If you look at both playlists you'll find there are a few artists that have 2 (or more) tracks on Capital's playlist, where as Radio 1 will only playlist one track from 1 artist. It's very rare they will playlist 2 songs buy one artist, and if they do they will do what they did with Lily Allen last year and split the plays between the two tracks.

 

XO is the official first single from Beyonce, but for some reason everyone is cherry picking Drunk In Love which is why it's doing well. If XO wasn't sent to Radio 1 as the official single, then they would no doubt have playlisted Drunk In Love.

I doubt it was dropped because of the controversy. It was more the lack of an actual radio edit (the chart show one wasn't the full song), and that led to the poor chart performance, which led to it being dropped, IMO. So if the label had bothered to make a clean version... :lol:

No 'Dark Horse'? I'm very surprised considering it's already top 20 on iTunes and rising close to the top 10! Should be playlisted almost definitely next week though.

I know :cry: Could've and should've been massive if they put in a bit more effort. The video was brilliant and the song itself is her best, or at least 2nd best to The Fear, IMO.

I can't help but feel the song would have lost its meaning with the 'bitch' being changed to 'chick'.

Really surprised that Bastille, Shakira, Lily and Will.I.Am have all stalled on the C-list this week, yet Xtina moves up!

I simply don't get what the problem with 'bitch' is - to me, it is no stronger than, say, 'crap'.

Which is why crap also receives the same borderline treatment as bitch in the sense that it is sometimes allowed but most of the time, it isn't.

I don't know who in this day and age is still legitimately offended by even 'proper' swear words. If anything 'bitch' is WORSE than 'fuck' and so on as it is degrading to women (most of the time anyway) whereas 'fuck' is only deemed a bad word because... it's historically a bad word for some reason?

I think to be honest the one that begins with C and rhymes with runt is the only one that has any real shock value, and even that's becoming quite a commonplace word anyway.

That word doesn't really appear in many songs though ('212' is like the only one I can think of?), probably just because it's much more taboo than other swear words. I think there is a legitimate reason to censor the N-word as well but I think most other profanity censoring should be done away with entirely and anyone offended by hearing a few f words here and there can just get over it.
