Posted February 17, 201412 yr Single & Album Summary He's made a name for himself by featuring on big hits from Disclosure and Naughty Boy, now Critics Choice winner Sam Smith is heading for his first solo number one with 'Money on My Mind'. However it won't be an easy ride as indie pop duo A Great Big World will make their chart debut with 'Say Something', a duet with Christina Aguilera. It's also the BRIT Awards this week so Pharrell may return to #1 with 'Happy' following his scheduled performance. Recent singles from Katy Perry, Lorde and Ellie Goulding are likely to climb as well. In a moderately quiet week for new album releases, it seems an act from the BRIT Awards will take the #1 spot. Ellie Goulding would seem to be the most likely challenger, but big climbs from John Newman, Arctic Monkeys, Bastille and Rudimental should be expected and any could make the top spot. As for new entries, Nina Nesbitt is looking to be the highest, with Blackberry Smoke, Sean Paul, We Are The In Crowd and Zedd all heading for the Top 40 too. ======================================================= Please note new changes to the Sunday Chart Predictions thread topic: Tuesday/Thursday - There will be no mids from MW for Tuesday and Thursday. February 17, 201412 yr Author Wednesday Update Top 40 Only Source: Radio 1/OCC Top 40 Singles Sam Smith appears poised to give Capitol Records UK its first No 1 with his new single Money On My Mind leading the midweeks. Nick Raphael took charge of the newly-launched British outlet of the historic US label as UK president last spring and it now looks likely to top the singles chart this weekend with Smith’s track having opened an 83% sales lead over its nearest rival, according to the Official Charts Company. February 17, 201412 yr I don't think Pharrell will make it, though I hope he does. Yes, he will get a considerable boost from the Brits but just look at how far Sam Smith is ahead and how much he would have to claw back with the Brits not even being transmitted until Wednesday. On a low sales week he could do it but I don't think it's even going to be close.
February 18, 201412 yr Can't wait to see MOMMs first mid sales tally I think it could be big with the EP hitting no1 & being top 100 for nearly 2 months, the high single preorder and a 40% lead on iTunes it could break 100k! Edited February 18, 201412 yr by steve201
February 18, 201412 yr I'm actually thinking 120/30k for Sam smith. High EP, massive lead and he would have had some quite big preorders from longetivity around 100 and then it's climb on the last week.
February 18, 201412 yr Mini Tues Update Sam Smith on sales of 48,7k, A Great Big World/Christina on sales of 26k, Clean Bandit on sales of 20,2k and Pharrell 50 copies behind Clean Bandit, and Zedd makes up the top 5. The only other new entry inside the top 40 come from MAD at #11. Big climbers for Tegan & Sara #24, Rihanna #27 and John Newman #31. Nina is #1 on the albums on sales of 5,4k, Katy B 3,3k, London Grammar 3,2k, Ellie Goulding 2,9k, John Newman 2,5k, other new entries inside the top 10 come from We Are The In Crowd at #6, Blackberry Smoke at #10, the reminder of the new entries come from Osyterland #18, and Issues #38. The most notably climbers come from Disclosure at #14 and Imagine Dragons #15.
February 18, 201412 yr Nina #1 :o Don't think she's gonna keep that #1 spot because of the BRITs but I'm PRAYING that she can. Such a good album.
February 18, 201412 yr I've definitely missed something with 'Love Me Again', why is it back in the top 40 AGAIN? And Mikey I think you missed out a few decimal points in that album sales rundown (or commas as you seem to use instead for whatever reason) :P Not surprised to see Nina taking the #1 album in the Tuesday mids but she's probably in danger of falling out of the top 5 by the end of the week due to the BRITs
February 18, 201412 yr And Mikey I think you missed out a few decimal points in that album sales rundown (or commas as you seem to use instead for whatever reason) :P Its all sorted out, its not very easy when I got someone shouting in the background
February 18, 201412 yr Big sales for Sam. I highly doubt the Brit affect is going to cause any kind of trouble for that #1.
February 18, 201412 yr I think he sang it on Jonathan Ross. Seems like he's not even trying to shake off his (effective) one hit wonder status. I thought he was performing at the BRITs as well but just checked and he isn't, 'Love Me Again' could easily have been headed back for the top 20 if he was!

And that would have helped dispel his one-hit-wonder status, how?
February 18, 201412 yr And that would have helped dispel his one-hit-wonder status, how? I wasn't suggesting it would...
February 18, 201412 yr Agree with Bré that Nina will be very lucky to remain top 5 by Sunday, considering the front-loaded nature of the release and Brits-related boosts but it's very impressive that her fanbase is strong enough to get a midweek number 1. Still, a top 10 album would be a good result for her. John Newman could be a dark horse but I imagine Ellie will get the #1 in the end.
February 18, 201412 yr Album sales are atrocious. Glad the brits will boost some of them above 20k this week again, thanks goodness!! Sam Smiths opening is decent - should get him 100k sales this week :). Clean Bandit could concievable fall 1-4 this week!!
February 18, 201412 yr 5.4k for the #1 album is appalling. She definitely won't keep the #1 by Sunday, it'll go to either Ellie Goulding or London Grammar depending on if they win any BRIT awards (and Ellie is VERY likely to so I think #1 will be hers) Didn't expect AGBW to be #2 in the midweeks, it'll probably fall behind Clean Bandit and Pharrell soon though. Sam Smith predictably at #1 by a big lead then, could push for 100k I think.
