lol ^so even w/ the tons of new releases there's nothing that's a #1 contender?

I think Foxes, Paloma Faith and Tiesto will go top 10 with their new releases but #1 will probably go to Sam Smith again. The week after we have Route 94/Jess Glynne releasing which will easily reach #1. Then the week after that we have the possibility of Dvbbs/Borgeous/Tinie Tempah going to #1 but I personally think Route 94 will stay on top for a second week. Then the week after we have a definite #1 in Duke Dumont/Jax Jones

I saw a lot of posters in London's HMV today saying Nina Nesbitt will be doing an acoustic set and signings there tomorrow, which will probably give her a boost (although not enough to remain at #1, I don't think).

Pharrell is at number 2 in the singles chart with Happy and is 30,000 sales behind Sam Smith. Bastille are at number 2 in the album chart 600 sales behind Nina Nesbit.

Winners and performers at last night's (February 19) Brit Awards have experienced huge sales boosts.

 

Bastille, Arctic Monkeys, Disclosure and Rudimental all saw their album sales double as a result of the awards ceremony, according to the latest data from the Official Charts Company.

 

The big uplift occurred by midnight last night, just a couple of hours after the ceremony had ended, as the data only counts sales up to that time.

 

If the trend continues, British Breakthrough Act winners Bastille will be contenders for the Official Albums Chart number 1 this Sunday with Bad Blood. It has currently hit number 2, with a sales increase of 132%, and trails front-runner Nina Nesbitt's Peroxide by just 600 units.

 

The band's previous number 2 single 'Pompeii' has also leapt back into the Official Singles Chart Top 40, moving 29 places to reach number 32 today.

 

Meanwhile, Best British Single winners Rudimental are on course to re-enter the albums Top 10 with debut album Home after a 130% sales surge overnight; Arctic Monkeys' MasterCard British Album of the Year AM currently stands at number 6 after a 115% increase in sales; and Disclosure's Settlehas risen 24 places to number 8 following a 138% spike.

 

Perfomer Beyoncé also got a boost, although it was 2008 album I Am… Sasha Fierce that had the biggest rise with 67%, while her current self-titled LP experienced a 48% increase.

Friday Midweeks-Bastille No 1 album, Nina has dropped to No 6

I had a feeling Nina would end up at around #6/7 by the end of the week, could be even lower than that if she's already out of the top 5! Whoops.

 

Bastille seem like an odd choice to return to #1 due to the BRITs (would have expected Ellie/Beyoncé/Arctic Monkeys) but I won't complain ~

Bastille beating Arctic Monkeys to #1 :D Hopefully Katy Perry can kick Zedd out of the top 5 by Sunday, I'd also like the Pompeii and Waiting All Night medley to go top 20 (I thought it'd be top 40 today, must be an OCC error like Bré said) And if Clean Bandit could beat AGBW to #3 that'd be great.

You gotta feel sorry for Nina Nesbitt! It's not every week an album drops from 1 on Wedsnesday to 6 by Friday!

You can't really. She was never gonna get the official #1 anyway, and she could've chosen to release on another week to avoid older albums like AM and Bad Blood benefitting from the BRITS effect.

What a difference a few days make! Can't believe Nina has fallen to no6 in albums since wednesday but given sales are so low, the Brits were bound to have a significant impact!!

Would have thought Beyoncé would have benefitted more than Rudimental, for instance, and been higher as of now but it's impossible to predict the impact for each album. London Grammar are holding well despite not featuring prominently. It'll be interesting to see the final positions on Sunday.

I'm not a Beyonce fan but I do like XO. I thought her performance on Wednesday was a little disappointing so I'm not surprised she hasn't gained as much as some of the other performers.

This, except I'm not a fan of XO. She just stood onstage and sang, whereas Katy Perry put on a show, so it's not surprising that she's benefitted more. (there are other performers I know)

To be fair, you can't put on a massive show for every song. I thought the performance was perfectly suited to the song, and it's had a massive boost, up around 40 places on iTunes!

I didn't necessarily think it was a disappointment but there was a good bit of hype around her being there and the BRITs were certaintly milking it all night, so I thought the hype combined with 'XO' being a mid-tempo (and her performing in a ballad-type setting) would lend itself to a big boost in album sales. But then she has a lot of competition so it's hard to know.

Good to see AM as high as no2 great album, but Bad Blod maybe appeals to a more broader audience. No surprise Bastille are so high too though they were everywhere on brits night from performances to being nominated for alot of categories - fair play to them biggest break through of 2013!
