February 20, 201412 yr Lily Allen has been on the playlist for 6/7 weeks prior to the release of air balloon. Something like C-C-C-B-B-A. How common is a song playlist for that long beforehand? I thought the norm was 2/3/4 weeks.
February 20, 201412 yr Oh right is the pre-order that's in the iTunes Top 40 then? I had just assumed it was OA/OS. Its an instant grat so it will chart this week!
February 21, 201412 yr Interesting that the average age of the Radio 1 listener is still 32, way over the target average age http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-25...s_campaign=1490 The obvious reason for this is that slightly older listeners are still too young for the likes of Radio 2, and so stick with Radio 1. There is an obvious gap in the market and a large age range that BBC Radio are just not catering for.
February 22, 201412 yr I'm 31 and I listen to radio 1 because they play more creative and new music - il prob move to 6 Music in a few yrs!

I thought the norm was 2/3/4 weeks. About a year ago the norm used to be to add a song 3/4 weeks prior to release, but lately it seems to be more like 4/5 or even 6 weeks. 'Air Balloon' was a bit of an extreme case and was added 7 weeks before release!
February 22, 201412 yr Just seen the 'sub-title', I see no signs of my actual entry on the playlist nor any other song where he is the lead artist #redlights x (Need all the promo I can get at this rate anyway!)

It's a bloody joke in this day and age - record companies learn nothing, no wonder sales are falling - how can you restrict demand for a track in this age of people wanting things NOW?!

There is an obvious gap in the market and a large age range that BBC Radio are just not catering for. Radio 1 shouldn't be about attracting a certain age group in my opinion. It should be about promoting new music, bands and artists, which is what they do very well in all fairness. People in their 30's still enjoy listening to and discovering new music, which is why the average age is still higher than what they would like it to be. I'm 27 and still listen to Radio 1. I feel that I'm still far too young to be listening to Radio 2, plus apart from one or two I'm not a big fan of the presenters on the station. I don't wanna listen to Jeremy Vine talking politics or Steve Wright reading letters from listeners about how great his show is, I wanna listen to Scott Mills entertaining me. Radio 1 will find it very hard getting that average age down much further in my opinion, especially as there's no decent alternative available. 6music is only available digitally and commercial radio sadly doesn't play the variety of music anymore.
February 24, 201412 yr Plus it just actually leads to less listening figures if you restrict your station to attracting a specific age group!
