April 17, 201411 yr I could go from Embrace to Kiss but I do have some standards so here's Tom Jones with the song Kiss yuH1XDtN4rE
April 17, 201411 yr Author Siouxsie once wanted to Kiss Them For Me, but even more than that one, I loved this video and single.. Cities In Dust _hMagNuhLkk&feature=kp
April 19, 201411 yr Author There seems to be a natural Easter Break going on, so Ive done a list of acts gone already on the first page, 217 so far, for ease of those of us with not-quite 100% memories - yes I"m guilty of repeating! Kirsty Maccoll, U2, Tom Jones are so loved they got re-used B-) Hope that's easier now! Let's try for a round 300 before fading out...?
April 19, 201411 yr I'd love to go from dust to the Dust (later Chemical) Brothers but we've already had them. So let's go for one of the artists to have worked with the Chemicals, Mr Tim Burgess. Here are the Charlatans with live favourite Sproston Green bwAcwsqgsXk
April 19, 201411 yr From one green to two. Here's American folk band New Christie Minstrels with Green Green - jom1n67_QOY
April 19, 201411 yr Author crikey that's an early childhood blast from the past I'd forgotten - itunes here I come! Green Green, Green Gartside. has to be Wood Beez! zQ-mjp2Yko0
April 19, 201411 yr The obvious next step would, of course, be Aretha Franklin but that really would be far too predictable. It's almost as if you were inviting that link. So I'll go for the other part of the song title and go for the marvellous Irish band The Would Be's and their ditty My Radio Sounds Different In The Dark. 1kzwfCr07xM
April 20, 201411 yr Author Not one I know, and I as I may not be able to post youtube links in the Canaries, I'm linking now to radio. I used to listen to Radio Luxembourg in bed in the dark as a teen on my t***** (transistor radio I hasten to add)_. Earlier, it was Radio caroline on the pirate ships. Theme tune to caroline was by The Fortunes. They also sang many a coca cola theme tune ad and had two bouts of hit singles, in the mid 60's and again in the early 70's. They had several brilliant pop singles, and the late lead singer Rod Allen had a great singing voice, much under-rated. Virtually all TV performances of them at their peak have been wiped, tragically, so no You've Got Your Troubles, Here Comes That Rainy Day Feeling Again or this one, the fabulous Storm In A Teacup. Pah! They existed! yTi3hC52Gtw
April 20, 201411 yr Storm In a Teacup was the name of the last Erasure single I can recall and certainly the last one I bought after them being the band of my childhood. The rest of the UK became bored of them a little while before I did, which is a shame for them as it meant they missed out on this: TviE45UeH6w
April 20, 201411 yr Vince Clark has been in other bands than Erasure such as Depeche Mode, and is originally from Basildon in Essex. A lot of great bands have come from Essex, the southernmost county of East Anglia, or East Angles as it was known in Anglo-Saxon Times. Nearby in Chelmsford (the capital of England for 5 days in the 14th Century) the wonderful Sarah Cracknell was born in 1967, and she was most famously known for being in a band called Saint Etienne. They scored their first Top 40 hit in 1991 with "Only Love Can Break Your Heart" but we are tenuously connecting instead to "He's On The Phone" - an almost Top 10 hit (No. 11) for the band in November 1995. April 20, 201411 yr St Etienne is a place in France which would be almost unknown here without their football team. I could go for another band named after a football team but I don't think Kaiser Chiefs are retro enough so I'll go for another place in la belle France. Here's another early 90s indie gem in the form of the Paris Angels and Perfume. x-iUiIL1oLI
April 21, 201411 yr Author Angels...Angels...hmmm Angels. That rings a bell? Instead though, how about Angelettes, 1972 teen girl group, now also wiped from TV memory and existence. Alex Day (via Jonathan King) have promoted a new video though for what is perfectly good advice for some... Don't Let Him Touch You! KtJtXhdMn58
April 21, 201411 yr There is only one place to go from Don't Let Him Touch You and it has nothing to do with Gary Glitter. It can only be The Tubes with the magnificent Don't Touch Me There. 1ilOARbJT_M
April 22, 201411 yr part of The lyrics go "Touching you, touching me touching you, god you're touching me" sRYNYb30nxU
April 22, 201411 yr Author another band with a lead singer called Justin is the Moody Blues. Ride My See-Saw is pure late 60's. Q0DaehYtDnc
April 22, 201411 yr 'The Moody Blues Cornwall' is the title of the following painting: http://www.highcliffe-art.info/gallery/members/Lovedy_James/LovedyJames01/moodybluescornwall.jpg Cornwall is lovely. As is Patrick Wolf. And he sings about Cornwall. A lot. But whilst Teignmouth would be a glorious addition to this thread, I'll stick with the obvious single from my favourite album of his, the wonderful 'The Libertine'. _Ww9tOALquY
April 22, 201411 yr Patrick Wolf has to lead us to the Werewolves Of London by the late Warren Zevon iDpYBT0XyvA
April 23, 201411 yr Author London Town, you may not recall, was celebrated by Bucks Fizz in song. As that wasn't much cop though, instead here's a great single from them.. QYDy4oSegNQ
April 24, 201411 yr Bucks Fizz won Eurovision for UK in '81 and these guys won for us in '97 X8oTtSTRdSw
