The wonderful Carter USM had a habit of recording cover versions for use as b-sides. One of the songs they covered was The Jam's Down In The Tube Station At Midnight which was a b-side on Do Re Mi, So Far So Good, in itself a typical Carter pun :D

A one off colloboration which included Paul Weller, to record a cover of Come Together for the Help charity album in 1995. Mojo Filter is taken from a line in the song.

Michael Jackson covered Come Together and he liked it so much he bought the company. well the publishing anyway.

Here he is looking super funky with his older brothers on the fabulous

Looking Through The Windows, The Jackson 5

Time for some more obscure early 90s indie then from another band with 5 in their name. Here are 5:30 with their massive hit (one week at number 72) You.

I had to get up at 5:30 yesterday. Gah.

Anyway, I'm pleased it's not 5:30 now. Instead, of course, the time now is now.

The Smiths have already been used so I can't go for How Soon Is Now. Therefore, I'll drop a letter and go for Brian Molko's band Placebo with Pure Morning

"Pure Morning" was the groups joint highest charting single in the UK with "Nancy Boy" - both peaking at No. 4. Nancy is the forename of the daughter of Frank Sinatra, and one of her biggest hits in the UK was the bond theme "You Only Live Twice". A song whose strings Robbie Williams bast*rdised in 1998 and made into a Number 1.

a sudden burst of classics (and one I dont know, sorry Fivethirty!)

well another daughter of a popstar dad is the marvellous Kim Wilde.

Cambodia..

Well, the Dead Kennedys famously had a holiday in Cambodia...but that's a little too obvious, so let's have 'Police Truck' instead.

John F Kennedy was the president of the USA, so that leads nicely into this

Well the Presidents of the USA are always the Talk Of The USA, a deliciously obscure bubblegum pop gem from Middle Of The Road.

Sally Carr in hotpants was the object of many a teenage boys affections in 1971. Here she and the boys are in a sunshine mood..

Soley Soley

1990s gem in the form of Denim

It had to be done.

C'est la vie? That's Life! Frank Sinatra said so. Though it may have been Somethin' Stupid I can't have Nancy featuring again for a third time can I?

Nah, I can't justify it. Well, Did You Evah! Not Frank's version though, it's that sweet-voiced Pop..

The great Marc Bolan wasn't Born Slippy but he WAS Born To Boogie,

here's his most under-rated single, the brilliantly exciting frantic..Solid Gold Easy Action

T Rex were originally Tyrannosaurus Rex. Another band named after a dinosaur were Terry Dactyland the Dinosaurs who had a hit with Seaside Shuffle

Oh, go on...I'll bite at the obvious connection.

Providing vocals and accordion on 'Seaside Shuffle' was the great Jona Lewie...and here's a song that sounds as great in June as it does in December.

From a Seaside Shuffle to a Resurrection Shuffle, is my aim via Stop the Cavalry.

Well, Jona said you could always find him in you know where at parties. Showaddywaddy had a Dancing Party that Jona would no doubt avoid, like me. Dick Van Dyke did a bit of dancing in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Me Ol' Bamboo. Drop the Dick Van, and.....

The Stone Roses have already been chosen so that rules out I Am The Resurrection :( So let's go for the most famous alleged resurrectionist, Jesus. More specifically Jesus Jones with Right Here Right Now.
