Is the new Coldplay AMAZING sound single and album already up in the UK also?

kworb says it's #291. :)

Edit: The single that is. Not sure on the album but it is listed in several other countries so I assume it's about.

Yes, the pre-order for Coldplay's new album is out - it didn't show up for me when I searched for it in iTunes but the link from the YouTube description of their new single works.

'Magic' is available as an instant grat so hopefully we'll see it enter the top 10 today? :cheer: Slightly disappointed that it looks like 'Midnight' isn't getting a proper release but hopefully it'll do well on cherrypicks when the album comes out.

Coldplay - Magic  #52

INSANE song, best of their 5 years.

Just listened to it. It's very good. I liked Midnight too. It's now  #41 :o

lol at coldplay - OA/OS releases are so much more exciting imo!! Radio 1 played it at breakfast this morning, maybe itll be record of the day??

Possibly. I just started typing the question are Coldplay still relevant to Radio 1 listeners? Then I remembered Atlas being on the A List for weeks on end a few months ago.

You have to take in consideration that the EP has sold better and that there is the Vamps version too :)

Single - #499

EP - #426

EP pre-orders are on the album chart, and album sales are a LOT lower than singles, so a #426 on the album chart means lot-lot lower on the singles chart (let's say around #1000 imo)

Fearnes playing it too must be record of the day - could help it go top 10 by the end of the day. Hope the playlist immediately instead of leaving it until April and letting it fall away again.

Doesnt seem long since Paradise they usually wait longer between releases!

I'd put my weeks wages on 'Magic' getting playlisted on Wednesday. I'm pretty sure 'Atlas' got playlisted before the song premiered. Radio 1 love Coldplay to bits, I've never heard them support an artist or band in a way they support them. Most other bands and artists from the late 90's and early 2000's have all recently been snubbed by Radio 1 as too old.

It's been almost 3 years since Every Teardrop came out. Coldplay normally have gaps of around 3 years between albums:

Parachutes - 2000

A Rush Of Blood To The Head - 2002

X&Y - 2005

Viva La Vida and Death To All His Friends - 2008

Mylo Xyloto - 2011

Ghost Stories - 2014

Magic now up to #34 on itunes by the way.

Yea its just because the album didnt come out until October of that year and Paradise blew up in Jan 2012.

Im not sure about this wed because the album release isnt until May which is quite far away un less the second single is from the album release itself.

Coldplay are too Big to drop them - theyre the biggest band in the world near enough and each release continues to deliver for them. Muse are still supported but the next album is make or break according to radio 1 themselves in a MW interview last yr!

Hopefully Muse can deliver with their next album to keep the Radio 1 support, but after them comments I can see them sadly being snubbed with their next album. :(

Foo Fighters are the only other "oldskool" band I can think of that right now that will be guaranteed Radio 1 support when they release new stuff later on in the year.

Queens of The Stone Age seem to see gain support from R1, too.

Yea thats a good shout although it was a mix of radio 1/6 music - radio 1 b listed My God is the Sun for a good long time then the second single got a month in the blist and it was arguably the more commercial single. Then 6 Music played the 3rd single The Vampyre of Time and Memory.

Hip Hop artists last alot longer lol!!

Pharrell's performance of 'Happy' was brilliant! Really hoping to see 'The Moon Song' enter too!

Truely the highlight of the show
