This weeks random retro is triggered by the entry of Paloma Faith today. It not only focuses on the week she first debuted in the chart back in 2009, but the following week was a memorable mark in World music. I am only posting the debut chart released by Fearne & Reggie on the 21st June 2009, but what went on to happen the following week, will provide a permanent mark on World Music. This mark would happen on Thursday 25th June, we was switching on our radios wondering why the non stop Michael Jackson songs, this was the day he died. The following Sunday 28th June Scott Mills was presenting, where as a result 6 of his solo tracks re-entered the Top 40 with another 10 in the rest of the Top 75, plus another 4 Jacksons or Jackson 5 entering.

Here is the Chart where Paloma entered with her first hit, Stone Cold Sober at #17

What a great yr 2009 was in the chart - that top 10 was immense with Kasabian Fire still slaying all even though we had reached the electro rap pop era.

I didn't expect Riptide to drop so much :o I thought it would be one of those low-peak, long-chart run type songs

Think its only had radio 1 support really and its off their a list now!
