Posted March 8, 201411 yr Hello! The personal charts mod team is conscious that the Multichart isn't running as efficiently as can be and that the chart (which should really go up on a Sunday) is often only finalised come Wednesday/Thursday. As such, we have decided to bring in some changes effective from Multichart #415 to ensure smoother running. First of all, we'd like all members who post a weekly ordered singles chart to post their charts in the weekly multichart thread in order for it to be counted. Having all the charts collated in one place will save time as we'll know exactly who has posted a chart during the week and there won't be any double checking of charts/dates. To help this along, we will make sure the multichart topic is opened and closed on time each week at midnight (Saturday night into Sunday morning). We will run this on a bit of a 'trial' basis but we will leave comments and send PMs to make sure everyone is aware. We also ask that when posting your chart in the multichart topic that you use a format similar to one of the few examples below: 1 Coldplay - Midnight 2 Disclosure and Lorde feat. AlunaGeorge - Royals / White Noise 3 Lorde - Team 4 Bombay Bicycle Club - Luna 5 Paris XY - The Return 01 | Peking Duk feat. Nicole Millar - High 02 | Lily Allen - Air Balloon 03 | Faul / Wad Ad / Pnau - Changes 04 | Cash Cash feat. Bebe Rexha - Take Me Home 05 | Duke Dumont feat. Jax Jones - I Got U 01 (02) Kylie Minogue – Into The Blue [5wks] (6-3-2-2-1) 02 (01) Embrace – Refugees [8wks] (12-2-1-1-1-1-1-2) 03 (05) Låpsley – Station [4wks] (20-11-5-3) 04 (03) Clean Bandit feat. Jess Glynne – Rather Be [11wks] (38-24-15-1-1-2-2-2-3-3-4) 05 (08) Kyla La Grange – Cut Your Teeth [7wks] (21-12-8-6-6-8-5) 1. Alcazar - Blame It On The Disco (5) (CR-5-1) 2. Sanna Nielsen - Undo (3) (CR-3-3-2) 3. Helene Fischer - Atemlos Durch Die Nacht (1) (CR-19-6-2-3-2-1-3) 4. John Martin - Anywhere For You (2) (CR-5-2-4) 5. Helena Paparizou - Survivor (16) (CR-10-9-16-5) (well done guys, you're ahead of the curve) The main points are that artist name and song title MUST be separated by a dash (-) or, even better, a tilde (~). Excel doesn't like artist names and song titles that aren't separated at all or song titles in quotation marks. 'Last week' positions should not come before the 'This week' positions and we don't want arrows/images to be included as these would be pasted over to Excel. Please can new entries be marked as such by (**) or (NE). By doing this, all charts can be copied and pasted straight into Excel without having to make tweaks ourselves so everyone doing their little bit will save us loads of time. :D We will be doing our part by making sure the chart is posted at the start of the week rather than towards the end. Please note that you may still create your own thread to post your chart and there are no format restrictions in individual threads. We hope that by getting the chart up at the start of the week AND having all members who post a personal chart post it in the multichart topic will draw more attention to the multichart and generate more discussion about the movements going on. This way we will feel that there is more of a purpose to getting it done on time every week. Thank you! Your personal charts mods, Robot, Jahq, NickF1 and Joseph
March 19, 201411 yr I don't think this is a particularly good change. :/ I think every chart posted in the forum should count. A lot of people don't read this thread and might have missed the notice. I only saw the notice because I came to check this week's chart and as usual it's late. Instead of adjusting the rules to cater to the fact you guys are too lazy to run the forum in the way it's been run for the last 8 or so years, the sensible thing would be to step down and make way for someone who has more time to dedicate to the chart. (not volunteering for that btw) I don't spend much time on here anymore, I just think it's a shame (as someone who once compiled these charts) to see what you guys are doing to the forum as my chart is one of the only things I still do on here.
March 19, 201411 yr Firstly, it's running on a trial basis right now as stated in the thread. No charts are being excluded for the time being, because, as you said, not everyone will have seen it yet, but it's something we'd *definitely* like to introduce. Not because we're lazy at all (don't really appreciate being called lazy when I did three multicharts over two days last week to bring this up to date), more because we want it to run efficiently, as it *has* been slacking over the past couple of months. We're gonna review it soon and if it's working, fab, we'll be a bit stricter on it. If not, we'll scrap the idea and return to how it was. But when we do end up falling behind, it delays it even *more* having to check dates, etc. Thanks for the feedback though, we'll definitely consider it when we come to review the changes.
March 19, 201411 yr Its so easy to re-tweak instead of posting images in the multichart thread, just copy the chart from your own personal chart topic, and it omits everything else, I don't know why its so much of a hassle.
March 19, 201411 yr When The Lounge mods were just counting up the Buzzchart, all charts were placed in a master thread so that we could add it all up quicker and for ease of access. That's not lazy, but if you can take shortcuts to doing a job, then it makes sense to take them. I know some personal chart mods work hard (I've slacked a bit myself) and I'm sure seeing as you were a Personal Charts mod yourself, Aaron, you'll appreciate the work that is put into it, so to try and simplify the process for ourselves is perfectly logical and is hardly punishing towards chart members. For 90% of chart posters, it's a simple copy and paste job from one thread to another.
March 19, 201411 yr I don't think copying and pasting your chart into the multi-chart thread to ensure it does count is that big a request/demand? If it is indeed a means of ensuring that the charts are posted on time as they should be to prevent recent slacking that a newly-appointed mod has gone out of his way to make up for, then what is the problem? :drama:
March 19, 201411 yr I have no problem at all in posting my chart into the multi-chart thread, although I do agree that a fixed time of the thread being opened and closed would be helpful. On a few occasions, I've created my chart and wanted to post it in the multi-chart straight away so I don't forget, but then I see it's already been closed and a new one hasn't been opened.

This is something we're working on! :D It should be done literally first thing on a Sunday (ie. just past midnight if possible), has been done not too long after the past couple of weeks.
March 19, 201411 yr I do my charts on a spreadsheet, and cut n paste over from there, it's not a problem to exclude any columns that aren't needed, or from my post if it's not a worry having weeks on chart and highest positions listed. I enjoy the multichart and as someone who has spent the last 3 weeks at work doing year-end valuation spreadsheets in all it's mind-numbing tedium i'll happily help anyone else avoid that! B-)
March 23, 201411 yr Out of curiosity (with regards to it being hard to check the dates of topics etc.) do you know you can order the forum by the date the topic was posted? http://i60.tinypic.com/5ag9r5.png You probably did, but in case you didn't I always found that handy when I got behind. I just think as moderators of this forum it's part of the role to collate all the charts and people shouldn't have to post them in the main topic. I know it's not much effort to do it, but it shouldn't be necessary. Could I make a suggestion? You could have an invisible topic(s) for collating the charts. At the end of each day/beginning of the day, one of the four moderators makes a post with all the charts posted in the forum and multichart topic from the previous day. Date it and make it obvious who the charts belong to etc. then the next day add a post with all the charts from the day before. Then, at the end of the week, whoever it is compiling the chart only has to refer to one topic and the task doesn't seem quite as big. Also, if the compiler for that week is busy, it's not such a chore for whoever has to pick up the work. Make it a collaborative effort so people can contribute when they're free. (I know this is just a twist on what you're suggesting, but I think it's a more effective solution)
March 23, 201411 yr The invisible topic idea is actually a good idea, and as you said, probably a more effective solution as it'll probably take a while for everybody to post their charts in the Multichart thread and even people who do post it could very easily forget to post it a second time. Cheers Aaron (I already do the topic started ordering thing actually, not sure if every other mod does or not).

In the past there was generally one person posting each chart so it wasn't needed, but I'm sure they have topics like this in the Lounge and Chart forum when more than one mod can be involved. Sorry if I seemed a bit rude before, I guess I'm still quite attached to this forum. >_<
