'Happy' #1... :manson: Nothing has tempted me to download that yet...

I've never been to New Zealand, but I always just presumed it was more similar (climatewise, sizewise, everything elsewise) to the UK. I may be mistaken though... :P (Regarding the topic description, of course)

and 32! So not as bad as last week then!

So happy to see Ribs, hope it gets a worldwide single release! (or 400 Lux)

Oops, wasn't paying attention to the re-entries :P Just Ribs this week

This also highlights the difference in how the AU & NZ charts are put together, Passenger was left out of the chart in Aus because the label didn't want it in. Last year One Direction's Strong was a #1 hit in NZ because of instant grat sales, it dropped out the next week

First random NZ #1 since I started this thread! I know the name Ginny Blackmore (through BJSC probably).

London Grammar re-entering at a new peak :o Guessing some sort of TV exposure.

No Lorde for the first time since Royals debuted back in March last year, but Pure Heroine still hasn't left the top 5!
This must be the only country in the world where Demi's version of 'Let It Go' is the highest :o

I was thinking that - Demi's version has been slaying in the same way Idina has in the UK/US but Idina peaked at just #34 in NZ and spent 4 weeks on the chart. Very strange!

Must be. Similar thing happened in France, IIRC.

Pharrell back at the top  He has matched the all time record for weeks at #1 in NZ, spending a 14th week there to match the run of, er, Boney M.'s 'Rivers Of Babylon'.

Go on Paloma Faith getting that NZ relevance. Yay for Tove Lo entering as well!

Didn't expect Tove Lo! Hopefully she can do the same in Aus though she's only at about #120 on iTunes there. Will be interesting to see where "Midnight" lands next week since it was #1 with a huge lead briefly on iTunes, and they let all instant grats chart :D

Yay, glad to see 'Beating Heart' charting somewhere else and I'm happy to see Ellie back in these charts after 'Goodness Gracious' didn't really do anything (which is odd considering it went top 40 in Australia, who don't like her as much...).

Hopefully 'Happy' nabs the record outright next week. I don't know if there's any competition?

Late entries for Tegan & Sara and Bastille, but the latter has just finished its run with 'Things We Lost In The Fire' which peaked well at #19. Can't wait to see how 'Of The Night' fares!

Karmin coming for dat smash (I hope *.*)

Promise I haven't taken over the thread (yet :P)

  • Author

Sorry, feel free to post the updates if I keep forgetting :kink:

Karmin still exist though?

Yay for Sigma starting to make a splash!

That must be the first country Karmin have charted in with that! Impressive for them to jump in, no idea how they've managed it.

Ariana looks like she could have a genuinely huge worldwide hit on her hands too. I remember feeling like her second era could be a bit bigger than the first but I wasn't convinced at all. I suppose it could very easily end up going like Selena's last era though. Good start that just dies.

Iggy knocking herself off #1! She really has taken off worldwide since 'Fancy'. Woo for Coldplay and Tove Lo getting that top 10 smash as well <3

Delighted for Tove, although I feel like the buzz over that song has died so quickly that it's strange to see it still growing!

Well it's anyone's guess why LZ7 have charted! And Paolo, for that matter, seeing as this is his first NZ hit.

NZ singles charts are always interesting, no matter which way you look at it. It's the first country that Miley had her number 1 single last year with We Can't Stop (her first official number 1 ever). Cheryl's Call My Name managed Top 20 and a Gold certification. Katy Perry slays like crazy there with nine number 1 singles. Random songs gets opportunities at Top 40 a la Bonnie McKee and Andy Grammer. I'm just surprised they haven't started a streaming chart yet.
