Another contest I used to participate in (along with Ghosty who is probably still there~) was run by an absolute MANIAC, everything-wise. Ultimately I was banned from participating because I provided a song with a wrong tag. ME. ME. I was like hey f*** you I did NOT do such a thing. And he banned me. Maybe we need someone like him to run this bitch~

I think when Tim hosts it (lets face it, that ain't gonna happen soon) we should all send him links to dodgy MP3 sites and give no effort whatsoever.

Jake my mp3 will be with you after work. Not illegally downloading on a networked PC at work (I don't even use buzzjack on it) as I'd rather not have IT on my case. Especially with my artist name.

Well I should have included Thermo in my response, but your attitude seems to be complete apathy/laziness and not thinking of others and it is relevant to the discussion. I'm sure Jake doesn't really enjoy spending half of his Friday editing tags/titles/formats from unknown MP3 sources when if you spent a little time and effort he would be saved a lot of aggravation.

 

Sorry if it came across as being rude but it really annoys when people can't be bothered to do their bit.

I just retag everything so it fits with my last.fm ocds anyway (not to take any hard work away from the host xo)

 

This tbh. My Last.fm OCD kicks in as soon as I open the packs and in I go checking if everything is correct to scrobble free of hassle.

 

In what concerns MP3 links, I usually send a third party one but only after checking if the file is correct and if it's safe to do so. I usually get my mp3 copies from the links I send so I know I'm sending the right thing. (some mp3 hosting sites even allow you to listen to the mp3 before downloading~)

 

But I shall re-tag them before sending since it seems it's such a hassle (which it is, took me hours to put the 90s Dance Spin-Off pack together. And in the end apparently none of my tags where there even if I had them fine on my Mac~~~)

 

Oh well.

To be honest I was re-tagging MP3 files before I joined Last.fm but that's probably because I had no social life as a teen and MTV Europe was my BFF.

I didn't realise that it made the host's job a lot easier if I re-uploaded the mp3 with correct tagging and I'm sure many others didn't too. If that's what you guys want I don't mind doing that in the future ^_^

 

By tagging I assume you mean entering the artist name and song name into the relevant 'boxes' on iTunes as well as re-naming the mp3 itself to artist name-songname.mp3

not being funny but we've all downloaded files and had to edit? you know the time that takes. it hardly instantly TRANSFORMS itself and comes into a semi final pack by magic?

i think that'd speed things up greatly. i spent like 5 hours last night trying to fix tags/download/look for stuff etc. i felt mentally unwell by the end of it :(
