That made me think it might be Radiohead as Thom Yorke has made similar comments in the past and they're quite prone to sudden album releases. The rest of the info doesn't match up to them quite as much though :P

Thom Yorke is anti-streaming but the rest of Radiohead aren't - that's why he's taken his solo stuff and Atoms For Peace off Spotify but the Radiohead stuff is still on there.

Adele?

ADELE!!!!!

ADELE???!!!!! :cheer:  :cheer:

Move over all ya'll ballad pretenders, here she comes to show how it's done!

Also know it's probably someone who uses social media a lot, I think we can immediately count out Lana Del Rey, look at her twitter account, barley tweets. Adele also not a big tweeter

https://twitter.com/LanaDelRey

Another tick for Gaga :P

javine is back and ready to let you touch her fire with her much-anticipated new album 'vajiné'

omg!

Someone from Heat says that the artist rhymes with Corden (?!)

Molly Sandén FOLLOWING UP that #55 Shazam chart smash *.*

I'd say Rihanna is most likely :)

Javine Vajiné, Shaznay Lewis or Lady GaG's real album all possible contenders then too :o

As Adele hardly use twitter, 'tis true

probably someone boring like Kanye West or Justin Timberlake doing his part 3 of the 20-20 experience....

might also be Rita Ora or Calvin Harris.... anything's possible...

It might be Bieber tbh. After the release strategy of "Music Mondays" (a service most decent artists would do for free). He's shown he can get 10 semi-hits in a row.
I think ARTPOP Acts I and II has to do with the rise and fall of a popstar, Queen Gaga has mentioned this a few times. Act 1 was the fall and Act 2 is THE RISE!!!! :w00t: We must just pray that Adele doesn't release anytime soon, we don't want her and her soccer mom fanbase to come overshadow us again like with BTW! :nono:

I really hope this is a joke... if this actually happens and Gaga fans legitimately believe that Gaga planned ARTPOP to be a flop all along, I will lose all faith in the pop industry. "She planned it all along!!! She wanted it to flop!!! It's art!!! SHE'S A GENIUS!!!" I can see this happening. Urgh.

Anyway, who do I think it could/couldn't be?

Adele - gonna say this is very unlikely. Adele's album sales rely too heavily on physical copies for this to be a iTunes exclusive.

Rihanna - as much as I'd LOVE this to be Rihanna, being a massive fan, I can't see it happening. She's too much of a singles artist.

The only three artists who I think are big enough and have enough hype around them to make this a success are Gaga, Lana Del Rey and Nicki Minaj.

We all know Lana's album is immanent and she hasn't really properly announced anything yet. The 'May 1st' date is clearly a load of rubbish seeing as May 1st this year is a Thursday, and nobody release albums on Thursdays.

Nicki is a potential but I can't help but feel the response to her dropping an album would be kind of muted? She's not got a strong enough following to allow it to be a huge success I don't think. But it's a possibility nonetheless.

All the signs seems to be pointing to Lady Gaga, seeing as she's been so quiet lately, except for shooting videos for singles that haven't even been announced. There's also the big factor that she said ARTPOP Pt II was happening. And the whole vomit thing last week could have been a 'subtle' way of nudging her back into the limelight just in time for an album release. I'd put my money on her tbh.

Taylor Swift perhaps?? It's possible. Lana or Rihanna seems like a strong possibility though but us talking about these two a lot won't be much of a "surprise" by the time their album makes their sudden appearance. I was literally laughing with someone writing Christina Aguilera's latest release potentially being a "featuring" compilation like Moves Like Jagger, Say Something etc. However, she can make a surprise return since Your Body did redeem her (a bit) in both the song and the video.

Carly Rae Jepsen, maybe?

What about Madonna? She was recently spotted in the studio with Avicii

I remember being irritated that 21 was not on Spotify for a long time and only the single versions of 'Rolling In The Deep' and 'Set Fire To The Rain' were.

I think they've added more in time, but I'm still not sure the entire album is on there. I'm not sure if that was intentional when the album blew up or if Adele is against streaming.

I think it could work for her, regardless of her relying on the physical market, there is such massive demand for her third album, she could easily pull such an out of the blue release off.

The only lacking aspect is the social media aspect.

I'm really interested to find out who it is, though it will be a bit of an anti-climax if it's Gaga tbh. Artpop was so bad, we don't really need another CD on that level.

It seems a lot of people will be disappointed if it turns out to be a male artist.

About Adele and Spotify, I remember Moto Blanco and Thomas Gold remixes of Set Fire to the Rain being on Spotify back in 2011/2012, but not the original song (although the original of Rolling in the Deep was there). Her whole album is up for streaming now though.

I personally think Kylie is launching Kiss Me Once Part 2 to beat George Michael. Three days is a long time now in chart terms!!
