April 13, 201411 yr Have much love for Dreamer, think it was one of the first songs I remember really liking
April 13, 201411 yr Dreamer - flawless! I never knew Livin' Joy were Alex Party :o Plus, only 500 ahead of Oasis? I didn't know that either!
April 13, 201411 yr "The Launch" reminds me so many MTV memories..When they had real music and not rubbish realities...
April 14, 201411 yr Never liked The Launch. I can take or leave Dreamer.. I do like You Don't Know Me, though.
April 14, 201411 yr We're losing quality pretty quickly now we've heard the last from Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty. Luckily we've now also heard the last from Livin' Joy who I cannot bear. Although it made 2 Unlimited somewhat faceless, I think the released version of 'Get Ready For This' is better without Ray and Anita's vocals. The thing that I always find funny about it though is that it sounds so tinny...there's no bass in it whatsoever. Very much a dance track for which the melody did all the work.
April 14, 201411 yr Author 44. INSANITY- Oceanic (378,000) http://i58.tinypic.com/2emodco.jpg YEAR: 1991 PEAK POSITION: 3 Hailing from Merseyside Oceanic are now almost exclusively for this track which spent 9 weeks in the top 10. If memory serves this was despite a heavy emphasis on sales in the north of the country and a noticeable lack of support from Radio 1. U22muv9UswI

SWAMP THING- The Grid (379,000) http://www.kompaktkiste.de/cd/_123/_2/205842.jpg YEAR: 1994 PEAK POSITION: 4 Whilst Marc Almond can claim a solo No 1 hit post Soft Cell, Dave Ball can’t quite- but this is as near as he got. Formed in 1990 the duo took 4 years to generate a top 10er but “Swamp Thing” lingered around for 8 weeks in the upper reaches comfortably passing the third of a million mark. FFvvLuomw0Y

I think Take Me To The Clouds Above sold loads up north compared to the rest of the country

"Insanity" epitomises the sort of dance music popular in the North West - hands in the air riffs, crowd noise samples etc. I used to DJ for a few years near Liverpool and dance music in the All Around The World label was the order of the day. UURRRGH I f***ing hate this!
April 14, 201411 yr Tune after tune, Dreamer, Don't Give Me Your Life, Insanity and The Launch are all fantastic!
April 14, 201411 yr I totally forgot about 'Insanity'. Such a slamming tune *goes off to download* :D
April 14, 201411 yr The sales of Insanity always surprised me. It's so weakly produced compared to its contemporaries in this chart.
April 15, 201411 yr I'm surprised that 'Don't Give Me Your Life' was the bigger hit for Alex Party. 'Wrap Me Up' was their biggest hit here in Australia, but I'm finding that alot with these 90's dance acts, we always had a bigger hit over here to what they had over in the UK
April 15, 201411 yr Sounds about right. "Insanity" epitomises the sort of dance music popular in the North West - hands in the air riffs, crowd noise samples etc. I used to DJ for a few years near Liverpool and dance music in the All Around The World label was the order of the day. Gigantic in southern Scotland too - think there's a lot of crossover in music tastes between NW England / SW Scotland. DJs must have been constantly hopping over the border. I quite liked that kinda thing (Love Decade etc) for a while, but God is it cheesy now. I much prefer 'Texas Cowboys' which was a kinda blueprint for 'Swamp Thing' but I don't mind it. Alex Party - yucky!
