I’VE GOT A LITTLE PUPPY- The Smurfs (236,000) http://www.ronsmusicsale.limewebs.com/images/85797f.jpg YEAR: 1996 PEAK POSITION: 4 Yes, OK maybe stretching the definition of “dance” here but there were a few raised eyebrows when the Smurfs went techno back in 1996. Their biggest hit was of course “The Smurf Song” which spent 6 weeks at No 2 back in 1978 but this wasn’t exactly a welcome back for the Smurfs in 96. 889msD3ITJ8

IT’S MY LIFE- Dr Alban (238,000) http://i60.tinypic.com/2150kg7.jpg YEAR: 1992 PEAK POSITION: 2 You’ll hear a lot of this “big in Europe” before it hit our shores and here’s another, a No 1 hit during the summer of 92 it was those returning holiday makers that made Dr Alban a hit here, well that and being used on a Tampax ad. Anyway the Nigerian born singer was a dentist in Stockholm pre fame but could only rustle up a couple of hits before disappearing off the radar. B-I20D4I6lU

OUT OF SPACE- The Prodigy (238,000) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/65/Out_of_Space.jpg YEAR: 1992 PEAK POSITION: 5 A spot of early Prodigy and their 5th biggest seller of the decade. “Out Of Space” of course benefitted from some Christmas sales though it was hampered by being the fifth single to be lifted from “Experience”. It samples “Chase the Devil" by Max Romeo” and became the band’s third top 5 hit from 5 releases. a4eav7dFvc8
March 29, 201411 yr How many of The Prodigy's songs have made this list? I have no idea what their best selling singles list looks like (but yay at it being at least more than 2).

OUT OF SPACE- The Prodigy (238,000) A spot of early Prodigy and their 5th biggest seller of the decade. Just guessing the answer is 5 :D

March 30, 201411 yr Yeah I'd go as far to say that Out of Space has actually eclipsed their four bigger sellers in terms of recognition today, when back in the late 1990s that definitely wasn't the case. Will never forget when I first heard it in 2004, sounded like - if you'll pardon me saying - something from a completely different planet to the chart music I was used to listening at the time. Absolutely classic track and shame sales were so low back then that it sold less than 250k!

Absolutely classic track and shame sales were so low back then that it sold less than 250k! 3 of them maybe but it surely hasn't eclipsed 'Firestarter'? Certainly not internationally at the least :P I think 'Out Of Space' was their first song that I ever heard (possibly also around 2004 I think!) but I didn't know it was by them for ages as I didn't really properly get into them until around 2009 (i.e. when 'Omen' came out), though by that time 'Breathe' had already become one of my favourite songs.

Their first two hits had both topped their native Italian charts but this narrowly missed up, funnily enough we’d had enough of them after their debut album but they continued to have hits in other countries into the 00s, “Try Me Out” incidentally co-written by 90s pop star Ann Lee. HEY BOY HEY GIRL- The Chemical Brothers (241,000) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/66/HeyBoyHeyGirl.jpg YEAR: 1999 PEAK POSITION: 4 Forget “Setting Sun” or “Block Rockin Beats” if you want the best selling Chemical Brothers track then here you are. Sampling “The Roof is on Fire" by Rock Master Scott & the Dynamic Three” this was the debut track from the album “Surrender” which repeated its predecessor’s feat of debuting at No 1, “Hey Boy, Hey Girl” however couldn’t give the band a third No 1 single but did outsell their chart toppers so not a total loss. tpKCqp9CALQ

PROTECT YOUR MIND (FOR THE LOVE OF A PRINCESS)- DJ Sakin & Friends (241,000) http://i61.tinypic.com/nb5ikg.jpg YEAR: 1999 PEAK POSITION: 4 A spot of “Braveheart” in the mix and this German Trance tune saw its way into the top 5 in early 1999. His “friends” seemingly deserted him after 2 hits or at least the charting singles did, presumably this did well north of the border? E66J7KsyGKY
March 30, 201411 yr The Lange remix of 'Protect Your Mind' >>>>>> Great to see 'Hey Boy Hey Girl' and 'Out of Space' here too! Good stuff. Not aware of that Corona song.
March 30, 201411 yr Not surprised that 'Hey Boy Hey Girl' has outsold the two Chemical Brothers #1s, I hear it far more than either of the #1s these days. (It's also much better than both of their #1s which are among my least favourite CB songs :kink:) Where does 'Galvanize' factor into their biggest sellers list?
March 30, 201411 yr I always thought that "Baby Baby" was the second biggest Corona single. It certainly was on an international scale.
March 30, 201411 yr Author Where does 'Galvanize' factor into their biggest sellers list? I'd say either 4th or 5th- it was about 5k ahead of "Let Forever Be" by the end of 2005 and is probably a better downloader than that song so 4th would be my guess- I'd estimate it to be around the 115k mark :D
March 30, 201411 yr BBE 'Seven Days And One Week' ~ Balearic beats at their finest. Massive tunes for Prodigy 'Out Of Space' and Chemical Brothers 'Hey Boy Hey Girl'! <3 Love the Lange and Ayla remixes of DJ Sakin & Friends 'Protect Your Mind' Looking at its chart run I'm surprised 'Baby Baby' isn't Corona's 2nd biggest UK hit. :o
