Besides with TGW they already know the ratings are bad, it's hit a 1.2 and several 1.3's this season, so there's clearly more at play here anyway.

Is it my imagination or is it rare or common for a show to have it's last episode be it's highest rated?

Pretty rare, at least from the time I've been following TV ratings. It's usually the highest rated of the final season (or indeed the final few seasons in some cases), but I've never seen a show hit a series high before.

Shame this didn't hold but I think it could still be the first time they've tied! I had a quick flick through NCIS/NCIS LA rating for the past couple of seasons and the original always appeared to be ahead by at least 0.1

 

Glad 'SHIELD' managed to adjust up! Need to watch this episode, but I'm really hoping it manages to hold out at the 2.0 region for the remaining episodes of the season! Seem to get higher ratings when they don't have breaks and air the episodes in consecutive weeks, so hopefully it'll happen with the last 7 episodes.

Great to see SHIELD up to a 2.0 again, should be up next week though with the crossover proper (and especially given what happens in the film).

LOL at Ramsey beating Idol. I feel sorry for Fox, poor buggers, at least the main three all had multiple hours that could crack a 2.5 this week, the hottest property that Fox has appears to be Family Guy!
