I'm really apprehensive about their Greatest Hits campaign. When Wordshaker flopped, it was no big deal because they just had a platinum album anyway and it was their first major flop. When On Your Radar flopped it wasn't that bad because they'd just came off the back of Headlines and their tour did *alright*, and 30 Days quickly saved them. However this Greatest Hits will be coming off the back of a major flop era for them (America, flop album sales, shockingly low airplay, little promotion and 3/5 flop singles) and there isn't going to be much of a gap between the campaigns. There's literally only going to be around three months between Not Giving Up being released and the Greatest Hits single premiering, which is Chasing Lights/Wordshaker all over again.

I hope they have a big budget and can afford to promote themselves properly with this. They need a killer song (preferably the Ego/Higher/Not Giving Up of the album), a great music video (doesn't have to be expensive, just not obviously cheap), decent promotion (at least one of the "big three" in Alan Carr, Graham Norton and Jonathan Ross), airplay and committment by the girls - none of these boring, awkward dance routines to half-mimed vocals and pregnancies.

I wish they could recreate the spark/drive they had during the Headlines! era. When that level of effort is put in then the quality, success, and momentum follows. They aren't very credible in the eyes of many because of their hit-flop-hit-flop release pattern, which is thanks to their lack of effort. They need three or so solid releases in a row if they want to achieve their former status.
When do you expect we'll get some news regarding the new single? It's very early days now so I'm hoping they'll wait while (while I'm still wanting SOMETHING from the girls in the meantime). I think Not Giving Up's stretched out release probably harmed it a bit. We're assuming it'll be released on the first weekend of August right? Here's hoping it don't clash with a Little Mix or Neon Jungle single. I think the fact it's released was sandwiched between 'Word Up!' and 'Welcome To The Jungle' might have been part of the reason Radio didn't want to playlist it. I still think the album could do reasonably well regardless of a smash single, but if they did get another hit, the album could sell really well coming off the back of it. I'm really anxious to hear what kind of song they've gone with. I know this has been said before, but this could be their most important single choice.

Mollie and Vanessa are both in the US for a month so somepoint after that I'd guess!

I don't think Little Mix will release anything nearer August time, they've been writing for a new album and their next single (probably the last from Salute), will be out within the month.

Is it just for a holiday then?

Yep! I imagine Mollie is going to see Jordan? And Vanessa doesn't want to be left alone with the mothers.

I have a question for someone who understands the iTunes/official charts, including cherry picking and complete my album. Can anyone here help?

Before you ask - if you cherry pick a song or two - it counts towards single sales. And even then if you press compete my album. They get the album sale as well, no matter how many songs you've already bought.

If that doesn't help, shoot?

Ok thanks, that was helpful. So if us fans pull together and cherry pick their lowest selling/charted singles and then complete the album they get more sales.

For example everyone buy work and notorious (as it is near a certification) and then complete the album to get the album sale too.

also I am thinking if in the run up to the Greatest Hits era they preform all of the singles at various promo opportunities I.e. Up on This Morning and Higher on Alan Carr.

I didn't want a massive post so I split it.

I do think with the right promo and fan support, the girls can get back on top form and prove the critics wrong, showing that they are the best girl band :cheer: :cheer:

I hope you're right JT. Yes, you can cherry-pick! Though Work isn't very near a certification I don't think. What About Us, Notorious and probably Forever Is Over Re nearest certification I'd say. Cherry-picking for greatest hits will probably very heavy on the release week anyway. If they've been doing good promo as you say they might get a couple of songs in the top 200.
I really hope they do get the cherry picks and sales, but the hardcore fans can cherry pick the weaker singles to boost them if you get my idea?
When this is out, if for instance it is £8.99, could I cherry pick nine tracks and complete the album for 8p? Then the nine tracks would count as individual sales so Notorious etc can get silver then it will also go as a sale towards the album too?
This is what I'm thinking but I am not too sure on how the iTunes/official charts work
I wouldn't be suprised if Notorious and What About Us got their certifications before the album was released.
