Kicking off the top 20, we have the lead single from her first Greatest Hits album, 'My Prerogative'. It's a cover of the Bobby Brown classic and due to it's content lyrically, it's not hard to see why she covered it. The lyrics related to her at the time, like they were specifically written, just for her. It went on to become a top 3 hit here in the UK, but failed to reach the Billboard Hot 100. Seems a bit bizarre considering how well known it seems now.

At #19 we have 'Hold It Against Me'. The lead single that REALLY got everyone online talking. One of the first mainstream, pop songs I remember using a dubstep-influenced breakdown. It really kept her career afloat by STORMING to number 1 on iTunes WW (except the UK, naturally) and went on to hit number 1 in numerous countries, including the Billboard Hot 100, where it kick started her most successful era singles wise for her over there, as it debuted at the top spot and broke first day/week radio airplay records! She is only the second artist to have multiple songs debut at the Hot 100 number 1. In the UK, it was a hit as it went to number 6 and went top 10 several other countries and hit number 1 in: Belgium (Wallonia), Canada, Denmark, Finland, New Zealand, South Korea & also number one on the US Billboard Dance Club Songs chart!

At 18 we have the super sultry and sensual 'Breathe On Me'! The song that seemed to become an immediate fan favourite with everyone who owned the album and one of the most controversial tour performances of Britney's career. It's possibly one of the sultriest, sexiest and luscious songs you're ever likely to hear. It's the parent song to 'Blackout''s 'Heaven On Earth', for those who haven't heard it *cough*R0B*cough*. SUCH a moment from the album and it's practically one of the main songs in her discography that gets everyone talking.

Up next we have the super brilliant and a song that seems to pop up everytime when I'm talking about my favourite Britney tracks. 'Overprotected', which also has a Darkchild Remix which is just as amazing! I just remember being so infatuated with the choreography to this song and how smooth and well performed it was. The song is an underrated gem and deserved to go top 10 in this countdown. The song peaked top 5 in Italy (#5), Romania (#5), Sweden (#2) & the UK (#4). Canada and the US got the Darkchild remix as the single release and although it charted at a respectable #22 in Canada, the song bombed in the US peaking at #86! :(

At number 16 is the 2nd single from the 'Oops... I Did It Again!' album, 'Lucky'. A song which really, only could have been done by no one other than Britney. It's both crazy and scary to think this was all a good 6 years or so, before things turned out like they did and made this song even more personal for her! Such a beautifully tragic song both lyrically and it's probably one of the most dramatic, simple little pop songs, you're likely to hear. A song that I hold many memories with too <3 The song was a big international success peaking top 5 in 12 different charts (5 of which were #1's! + a #5 in the UK) and then peaking at a decent and respectable #23 in the US.

Into the top 15 we go and to kick us off we have a song that WON it's round to get through to the finals! 'And Then We Kiss' was a song that got released only on her 'B In the Mix (Part 1)' album. It seems to be a HUGE fan favourite. I really do love it, I just don't see what's so "shit the bed amazing" about it, unfortunately and think it's slightly overrated, too much! If you've not heard the song already, then I do recommend it as it's great!

Number 14 sees the title track of her 6th studio album, 'Circus'. 'Circus' was the follow up single to the incredibly successful 'Womanizer' and served as the song to launch the album. It is known for it's unique structure and has one of my favourite bridges in a Britney song. It was a big hit around the world peaking at number 3 in the US and despite it's disappointing peak of 13 in the UK, it sold a fair amount!

At that unlucky number is 'Womanizer'. The song that many members of the public classed as the TRUE comeback from R BritBrit. I remember being on Buzzjack when this premiered and I literally had 1 hour of sleep as I was up all night listening to the radio rip, over and over again. Honestly! Such an experience when this premiered, I was ALL OVER IT. The video absolutely delivered too. Just rewatched it myself as I was compiling this and I forgot just HOW into it she was! Extremely confident, full of attitude and she seemed really passionate about this (hardly a surprise considering she had a lot of control over it and we all know how good it is when she takes control *.*) The song was a WorldWide smash! Her biggest global hit since 'Everytime' I think (4 years gap!) and sales wise it's one of her biggest hits in the UK! In the US it reached the summit and made record breaking (until 3 months or so later when Kelly C took it from her) jump from 96-1 or something! HUGE. It hit number 1 in so many countries and gave Britney another top 3 in the UK.

At number 12 we have the dancefloor smash and probably one of her most well known recent hits, 'Till the World Ends'. It served as the second single from 'Femme Fatale' and became a MASSIVE smash worldwide, except the UK where it only became a moderately successful hit. I have no idea how, as to me it was the most hit sounding song she's done in absolutely ages, imo. Despite the crap peak, it did sell well and I'd say it's definitely more remembered now than a lot of her other stuff. In the US it was HUGE though. I think (could be wrong) it is her biggest radio hit ever? It's a brilliant, dance number and surprisingly doesn't sound too generic!

Just missing out on a top 10 position is 'I'm A Slave 4 U', the sultry and sexy first single from her 'Britney' album. It's the song that transformed her from a girl into a sexy woman! The song is such a new change in sound for her, so much more mature, sexy and exactly what she needed. Her Janet J influences really show in this song and video imo. The video is easily the sexiest she's ever done and the choreography for this song is just insane. It also gave us one (of many) ICONIC VMA performances. You know the one with "the snake"! The song was a massive top 10 hit worldwide, yes even in the UK where it peaked at #4 (although this was back when the UK actually gave a shit about her) and peaked at number 27 on the Billboard Hot 100 (the lowest position it got anywhere in the world).

Into the top 10 we go and we start with the pop classic, 'Oops!... I Did It Again'. According to the reliable source that is, Wikipedia, the song broke international sales records! It was a huge song and is without a doubt one of her signature songs. The cultural impact both the song and video had was insane. EVERYBODY was talking about it. Most famously for that sexy, red cat suit! The video is one of the most iconic videos of our generation and once you see it, it's no wonder how or why it got the attention it did.

It became her 3rd number 1 single in the UK after 'Baby...' and 'Born To Make You Happy' (both of which are still to come on this rate!) and has sold in excess of 400k copies! It peaked at number 8 on the Hot 100 in the US, but sold about a billion copies I think. Or close enough. It was a massive European success as well as a success in Australia and it really shows just how popular she really was at the peak of her career!

Up next is Britney's 2nd biggest selling ballad. 'Born To Make You Happy' was the 4th European single, but was never released as a single in the US, who got 'From the Bottom Of My Broken Heart' instead (LOL)! It's a nice, little pop song about a girl who understands she was obviously born to make her man happy. It's dated, but it's extremely catchy and it's just bizarre how it wasn't chosen over FTBOMBH for the US single.

It stormed to the top of the UK charts and has sold about 325k copies to date, and also went to number 1 in Germany, Ireland and Norway. It peaked top 10 in every other country it was released in, bar Spain where it charted at #16!
